Sacramento Kings game wrap: Kings drop eighth straight game to Wizards 123-111

The Sacramento Kings were back in action on Wednesday night. The Kings last played on Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Kings had a day off on Tuesday before taking on the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. The Wizards, one of the worst teams in the NBA came into Sacramento and beat the Kings 123-111.

Flashback Monday: On Monday, the Kings took on the New Orleans Pelicans. The game didn’t go well for the Kings. The Kings weren’t able to keep up with the Pelicans on Monday as they lost by the final 117-110. The story of the Kings which is usually the defense again played a critical role.

Wednesday night recap: The Kings were set to welcome in the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night at 7 PM PST in Sacramento.

In the first half, the Kings defense was atrocious. Unfortunately, Kings fans have become accustomed to my last sentence. The Kings defense has been historically bad this year.

That historical failure was on full display in the first quarter. The Kings allowed the Wizards to score 42 points in the first quarter as the Kings were only able to put up 31 points. In the second quarter, the Kings managed to outscore the Wizards but only 29-28 and would enter halftime down 70-60. The Kings appeared on the same track as many games where they got in an early hole and were unable to dig themselves out of it.

Unfortunately, that was also true in the second half. The Kings and Wizards traded baskets in the second quarter as each team scored 23 points. It was a marked improvement for the Kings on defense but would prove to be too little too late for this team. In the fourth quarter, the Wizards outscored the Kings 30-28 and downed the Kings 123-111 on the road.

It was another disappointing game for the Kings. They have now dropped eight straight games and will need to get up for Thursday for the second of back-to-back games this time in Arizona against the Phoenix Suns. De’Aaron Fox led the way for the Kings scoring 33 points. For the Wizards, Bradley Beal led the way in points with 31 and Russell Westbrook finished with 25 points, 11 Assists, and 15 Rebounds.

Warriors blow out Thunder 147-109; Curry stays hot with 42 points

The Warriors started the five-game road trip on the right foot Wednesday night. Stephen Curry had another brilliant performance with 42 points to lead Golden State to an easy 147-109 rout over the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC is not the team it was when they had Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook on their roster.

Their big center, Steve Adams, was traded. The lineup they put on the floor against the Warriors was full of players with a very short NBA resume. Even so, Golden State would become complacent; the Thunder could upset the Warriors apple cart.

The Warriors did not relinquish the lead after the teams were tied 5-5. The Thunder gave the Warriors a tussle, but Curry, Kent Bazemore, and Jordan Poole connected on threes to propel the Warriors to a 36-32 lead after 12 minutes of play.

The Warriors owned the second quarter. Jordan Poole was hot. He kicked in 11 points to give the Warriors the advantage 49-36. The Warriors outscored the Thunder 39-22 to finish the first half with a 75-54 lead. Curry paced the Warriors with 17 points. He connected on five threes in ten tries.

Poole had 14, and he made three threes. Kevon Looney had nine, Andrew Wiggins eight. Draymond Green had four points and ten assists. The Warriors had great ball movement as they recorded 24 assists on 27 made field goals. They played well on defense as they held the Thunder to 54 points.

As good as they played in the second quarter, the Warriors put fifty points on the board. Curry was on fire. Curry scored 25 points in the period. He connected on six threes. The Warriors led 125-83 after three quarters. Curry did not play in the fourth quarter. In his 29 minutes of playing time, he scored 42 points and made 11 threes. It was the eighth consecutive game that he scored 30 or more points.

Warrior head coach Steve Kerr did not have Curry, Looney, Wiggins, or Green on the court in the fourth quarter. Gary Payton, the second, on a ten-day contract, saw playing time. Payton, the son of Oakland’s own Gary Payton, recorded ten points and made a three.

He excelled on defense with four steals. Juan Toscano-Anderson, Alen Smailagic, Nico Mannion, and Jordan Poole finished up for the Warriors.

Game Notes and Stats: With the win, the Warriors are 27-28 for the season. They have 17 games left on the schedule. The Warriors have won four of the last five games. OKC is 20-34. The Thunder is 0-8 for April.

The Warriors tied a franchise record with 24 made threes. The 50-point third quarter was the highest-scoring quarter by any team in the NBA this season.

Green had his 28th career double-double. The Warriors are 27-1 in those games. Curry had 42 points, six boards, and eight assists. He was 14-for-20 from the floor and made 11 threes in 16 attempts. The rest of the Warrior starters made significant contributions.

Kent Bazemore, starting in place of the injured Kelly Oubre, kicked in with 15 points. Bazemore made three threes in four tries. Wiggins had 16, Looney nine. Jordan Poole, coming off the bench, finished with 17 points. Poole knocked down three threes from downtown. Payton had ten points, one three, and four steals. 

The Warriors are on their way to Cleveland to play the Cavaliers. The Cavs record is 20-34. The game will start at 5 pm.

#2 David, talk about Stephen Curry’s accomplishment as the highest scorer in Golden State history surpassing Wilt Chamberlain on Monday night scoring 53 points against the Nuggets passing Chamberlain with 17,818 points to Chamberlain’s 17,783 points. Chamberlain left the Warriors in 1964 a scoring record that held for 57 years.

#3 The Oklahoma City Thunder are currently on a seven game losing streak as they host Golden State tonight. The Thunder in recent years have struggled and have not been the same since the days of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. The Thunder coming into tonight’s game 13th in the Western Conference and 20-33 they have their work cut out for them and it doesn’t get any easier with the Warriors coming in and coming off that big win against Denver and a two game win streak. This being the first of five road games for Golden State.

Curry’s historic 53 point night powers Warriors to 116-107 win over the Nuggets

Stephen Curry made Warrior history Monday night to lead his team with 53 points to a 116-107 win over the visiting Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets, embarrassed by the Boston Celtics’ 31-3 late in the game to beat Denver at home, were hoping to get back on track against Golden State. The Warriors did not have Eric Paschall, Kelly Oubre, or James Wiseman available due to injury. The Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, had Kent Bazemore fill in for Oubre.

Here is a list of all the things that Curry did Monday night. Curry needed 19 points to pass Wilt Chamberlain for the all-time Warrior scoring record. Curry scored 21 in the first period to pass Chamberlain’s 17,783 points. Curry was a one-person wrecking crew in the first half.

He led the team with 30 points. It was the seventh straight game with 30 or more points. Rick Barry was the last Warrior to accomplish that feat, and Barry did it in 1974. It was the 24th game of the year that Curry scored 30 or more.

It was his fifth game of the year with 40 or more points. It was his ninth 50 -point game in his career. He also connected on ten three-point shots. Curry accomplished that for the 18th time. It was also the third time that Curry had 50 points and ten threes in a game.

As mentioned above, the Nuggets were still smarting from the loss to Boston last Saturday in Denver. The Nuggets beat the Warriors earlier this year and looked to make it two wins over Golden State. The teams played a very entertaining first quarter. Curry was on fire, as mentioned above.

With Oubre and Paschall out, the Warriors needed to get all the starters into double-figures if they hoped to win. They had to find a way to contain Denver’s all-star center, Nikola Jokic. Denver improved their roster at the trade deadline by acquiring Aaron Gordon and former Warrior JaVale McGee. They also had to contain Jamal Murray, Will Barton, and Michael Porter. The Nuggets won the first quarter 33-32. Curry had 21 to pace the Warrior offense.

The Nuggets went on an 11-2 run to start the second period to lead 42-35. The Warriors did not score in the first three minutes of the quarter. Kent Bazemore and Draymond Green connected on a couple of threes to make it 48-42.

Curry returned to action and knocked down a three to close the gap to 48-45. Bazemore connected from downtown to tie the game at 54. Denver then went on a 7-0 run to go ahead 61-54. Curry made a two-point shot. Denver went to the halftime break leading by six 61-56.

The Warriors came out firing on all cylinders to start the third quarter. They stunned the Nuggets as they went on a 21-5 run to regain the lead 77-68. Curry was making shots from all over the court. The Warriors defense stopped the Nugget offense cold.

The Warriors outscored the Nuggets 43-22 to lead by 16 points 99-83 heading into the fourth quarter. Denver fought back to trail by ten 107-97. Cury was back in the game. The Warriors got sloppy with the ball, and Denver was able to creep closer 111-104. Curry and Green made free throws down the stretch to preserve the win for Golden State 116-107.

Game Notes and Stats: With the win, the Warriors are 26-28 for the year. Denver is 34-20.

The Warriors needed their starters to produce and did they ever. Green had a season-high 18 points. He was 7-for-8 from the floor, and he knocked down two threes. Green pulled down seven rebounds and made seven assists.

Bazemore had 14. He made three threes. Andrew Wiggins had 17 and was a force on defense. Damion Lee, coming off the bench, had eight. Kevon Looney did not score, but he had ten rebounds and played well on defense. The Warriors shot 48% from the floor. They connected on 18 threes in 44 attempts. On defense, the Warriors forced 19 Denver turnovers.

Nikola Jokic had a double-double for Denver. His line was 27 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Michael Porter was second in scoring for Denver with 24 points and nine boards. The Warriors held Aaron Gordon and Will Barton to nine points each. Bench player Monte Morris had ten for Denver.

Denver’s Jamal Murray suffered a knee injury with just 50 seconds left in the game. Murray hit the floor and was in extreme pain for several minutes. He was helped to the locker room for further examination. He probably will have an MRI. 

The Warriors travel to Oklahoma City to play the Thunder on Wednesday night. The game will start at 6 pm.

Sacramento Kings game wrap: Kings Lose Seventh In A Row to Pelicans 117-110

With the regulation season approaching the final lap, team’s are fighting for that eighth spot. The eighth spot is a very real possibility for a few teams but the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans are probably not one of them. The Kings were defeated in New Orleans for their seventh straight loss 117-110 to the Pelicans on Monday night.

The Pelicans have made a bit of a move and are now in 11th place, three games behind the eighth place Grizzlies. With roughly have 19 games left in the regular season; now is the time to make a move for both of these teams. The Kings are 22-31 and in 12th place; a full five games behind the Grizzles. A win tonight is exactly what the Kings are gearing up for. They have lost six games in a row and desperately need a win.

The Kings started off the game on a slow note. The Pelicans led after one quarter 31-19. The second quarter did not go well for the Kings either. They trailed going into the locker room at the half 68-45. Sacramento had a lot of ground to make up in the second half. The Kings were having trouble stopping the Pelican offense. This is not surprising since the team has suffered with poor defense all season.

The Kings would need starters Richaun Holmes, Harrison Barnes, and Tyrese Haliburton to really step up in the second half. The Kings made up a lot of ground in the third quarter. They trailed 86-74 cutting their half time deficit in half. De’Aaron Fox was having a great game with 31 points through three quarters.

The Kings would pull to within four points of New Orleans but just plain ran out of clock. The slow start in this game came back to bite them in the rear resulting in the disappointing loss.

De’Aaron Fox had the high score of the game with 43 points for the Kings. Harrison Barnes finished with 16 points and Maurice Harkless had 15. The Pelicans Brandon Ingram had 34 points and Zion Williamson had 30. This loss is the seventh in a row for Sacramento.

On Wednesday evening the Kings will take on the Wizards. Tip off is at 7:00 PM.

Kings drop fourth straight this time to Jazz 128-112

The Sacramento Kings were back in action on Saturday night. The Kings played in Utah against the Jazz in a game that was sure to challenge the Kings. In the Kings previous game, they took on the Detroit Pistons. On Saturday, the Kings weren’t able to pull off the victory losing by the final of 128-112.

Thursday flashback: The Kings welcomed in the Detroit Pistons on Thursday in a game they Kings had circled as an easy win. However, it wouldn’t go as the Kings hoped. The Kings were embarrassingly defeated by the final of 113-101 in one of the lesser teams in the league. The Kings would need to get back on track against the Jazz to stop the bleeding.

Saturday night recap: The Kings were set to take on the Utah Jazz in Utah at 5PM PST.

In the first half, the Kings and Jazz traded buckets for the most part. In the first quarter, the Kings were out scored by the Jazz 34-31 as neither team played any defense. In the second quarter, the script was flipped. The Kings managed to outscore the Jazz 34-25. Going into halftime, the Kings took a 65-59 lead looking to get back into the win column.

In the second half, the Kings melted down. The third quarter saw the Kings be outscored 36-24 as the defense continued to be the Kings greatest weakness. The Kings would need a dramatic comeback in the fourth quarter to get the win. However, they weren’t able to mount a comeback.

The Kings were also out scored 33-23 in the final quarter to lose the game 128-112. The Kings are struggling mightily as of now and need to get back on track as soon as possible. Leading the way for the Kings in defeat was De’Aaron Fox who scored 30 points. In victory, Utah was led by Donovan Mitchell who finished with 42 points.

Up Next: The Kings will take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday in New Orleans at 6 PM PST.

Curry leads Warriors to win over Rockets 125-109

What a difererence a day makes. The Golden State Warriors rebounded from a loss Friday night to the Washington Wizards to down the Houston Rockets Saturday night at the Chase Center. The Rockets, coached by Stephen Silas, are not the team that the Warriors faced from 2015 to 2019.

The Rockets’ former head coach Mike D’Antoni is now an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets. Russell Westbrook in a Washington Wizard. Clint Capela is with the Atlanta Hawks, and James Harden is a Brooklyn Net. The Rockets’ best player is John Wall. Wall did not play for two years due to injury.

He requested a trade, and the Wizards sent him to Houston. The Rockets entered the game with a record of 14-38. The Warriors added to their woes by beating them 125-109.

The Warriors did not have Kelly Oubre in the lineup Saturday night. Oubre was complaining of soreness in his wrist, and coach Steve Kerr gave him the night off. Kent Bazemore took his place in the lineup. The Warriors and the Rockets played an entertaining and competitive first quarter.

The Warriors led for most of the quarter. Rookie James Wiseman knocked down six points in the first few minutes of the game. The Warriors led by eight 32-24, but The Rockets were able to get to within two as they scored the last six points of the period to trail 32-30 after the first 12 minutes of action.

The Warriors owned the second quarter. Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole led the team on a 13-2 run to give the W’s the advantage, 47-34. The Warriors played well on defense, too. They won the quarter 33-18 to finish the first half with a 17-point lead 65-48. Andrew Wiggins had 19, Jordan Poole, 14, and Curry, 10. 

The Rockets had to play at their best to close the gap in the third and fourth quarters. They did outscore the Dubs 33-29 in the third. Curry tallied 23 of the Warriors 29 points in the third quarter. The Warriors led 94-80 heading into the final stanza.

Curry was not on the floor to start the fourth quarter. The second unit of Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney, Michael Mulder, and Damion Lee kept the Rockets from cutting into the Warrior lead. The Warriors led 111-98 with 5:54 left in the game.

Steve Kerr put Curry back on the floor to finish the game. Michael Mulder and Juan Toscano-Anderson were also in the lineup. The Rockets’ John Wall heated up in the second half. Wall scored 20 points in the second half, and with D.J.Augustin, they closed the gap to 116-107 with 2:40 left. Curry and Toscano-Anderson made baskets in the final two minutes to give Golden State the win 125-109.

Game Notes and Stats: With the win, the Warriors are now 25-28 for the year. The Rockets are 14-39. 

Curry scored 30 or more points in a game for the sixth straight time. The last Warrior to accomplish that feat was Rick Barry. Curry has connected on 214 threes this season. He passed Sacramento’s Buddy Hield to lead the NBA in that department. Curry has scored 17,765 points in his career with the Warriors. He needs 18 points to tie the late Wilt Chamberlain for the Warriors all-time scoring record.

Curry finished Saturday night’s game with 38 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. He was 13-for-21 from the floor and connected on eight three in 15 attempts from downtown. Andrew Wiggins was second in scoring with 25. Jordan Poole, coming off the bench, had quite a night with 21 points and three threes. Mychal Mulder had 10, Kent Bazemore 9. Draymond Green’s line was two points, seven boards, and seven assists.

The Warriors shot 54 % from the floor. They made 14 threes in 35 attempts. The Warriors recorded 31 assists on 49 made field goals. The Warriors’ defense recorded 13 steals, five blocked shots, and they forced 18 Houston turnover that resulted in the Warriors putting 23 points on the board. The Warriors tallied 28 fast break points.

The Warriors’ big rookie center, James Wiseman, fell hard to the floor in the second quarter and injured his knee. he left the game and did not return. He will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

John Wall led the Rockets with 30 points. He was 11-for 19 from the floor, and he tallied five threes in seven tries. D.J. Augustin, coming off the bench, poured in 19 points. Kelly Olynyk had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Big Christian Wood licked in with 18. 

The Warriors host the Denver Nuggets at the Chase Center Monday night. The game will start at 7 pm.

Warriors and Wizards play thriller; Washington pulls it off in final 13 seconds 110-107

The Warriors, buoyed by the exciting win over the Milwaukee Bucks Tuesday night, hosted the Washington Wizards at the Chase Center Friday night. The two teams raced up and down the court all night long. The Warriors were focused on stopping the Wizards’ Bradley Beal.

Beal is averaging 31 points a game to lead the Wizards. The Warriors bottled up Beal for most of the game. The Warriors’ main problem was finding a way to stop the bigger Wizard team. Washington had two players at least seven feet tall, Alex Len, who is from Ukraine, and Robin Lopez, scored at will. Len finished with 15 and Lopez 20 to pace the Wizards to an exciting 110-107 win over Golden State.

The Wizards’ roster featured players from all over the globe. Six foot nine inches forward Deni Avdija is from Israel, six foot eight inches forward Rui Hachimura is from Japan, and six-foot ten-inch forward Davis Bertrans is from Latvia. All of these players contributed to the Wizards’ win.

The game was nip and tuck until the end of the game. The Wizards’ biggest lead of the night was ten points. The Wizards won the first quarter by nine points 32-23. The Warriors fought back in the second, but they still trailed the Wizards by seven 57-50 at halftime. The Wizards’ big men Len, Lopez, and Rui Hachimura paced the Wizards’ offense with 10, 16, and 13 points, respectively. Stephen Curry had 17 and Kelly Oubre 10 for Golden State.

Washington, in the third quarter, increased the lead to nine 70-61. The Warriors went on a 14-0 run to take the lead 75-70. Curry made a three, and Oubre tallied nine during the run. With the score tied at 79, the Wizards went on a 6-0 run to finish the third quarter leading 85-79.

The Warriors scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to the game at 85. The Warriors then earned a four-point advantage 93-89. Washington fought back to trail by one 97-96. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr moved Draymond Green to the center position as the Warriors went with their small lineup.

The teams kept trading buckets down the stretch. With 16 seconds to play, The Warriors led 107-104. The Wizards’ Bradley Beal made a four-point play to give the Wizards the lead 108-107. Beal connected on the three and was fouled. The Warriors had 6.1 seconds left. The Warriors got the ball to Damion Lee. As he was driving to the basket, Lee fouled Beal. Beal sank the two free throws to seal the win for Washington 110-107.

Game notes and stats: With the loss, The Warriors are 24-28 for the year. The Wizards are 19-32.

Curry led the Warriors with 32 points, six boards, and five assists. Curry was 11-for-25 from the floor, and he connected on five threes. Kelly Oubre finished with 23 points, and he was four-for-eight from downtown. James Wiseman had 18, Andrew Wiggins, 15, Damion Lee, 10. Green had five points, five rebounds, and eight assists. The Warriors shot 46% from the floor and were 11-for-37 from behind the three-point arc.

Rui Hachimura paced the Wizards with 22. Alex Len 15, Robin Lopez 20, Bradley Beal 20. Russell Westbrook had a triple-double. Westbrook tallied a9 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists.

The Warriors face the Houston Rockets Saturday night at the Chase Center. The game will start at 7 pm.

Sacramento Kings game wrap: Kings loss streak climbs to five; Joseph leads Pistons with 24 pts in 113-101 win

The Sacramento Kings were back in action on Thursday night after two days off. The Detroit Pistons were in town to take on the Kings who were looking to get back on track. The Kings played their last game on Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. On Thursday, the Kings fell to the Detroit Pistons at home by a final of 113-101.

Flashback Monday: The Kings were struggling going into Monday night’s game. Against the Timberwolves on Monday night, the Kings fell 116-106 to one of the worst teams in the league. The Kings defense and offense weren’t up to the task and they didn’t play a particularly competitive game.

Thursday game recap: The Kings were set to take on the Detroit Pistons on Thursday at 7 PM PST in Sacramento.

In the first half, the Kings struggled in a major way. The Kings allowed the Pistons to score 27 points in the first quarter compared to their 24 points. However, that wasn’t the worst of it. In the second quarter, the Kings were blown out with the Pistons scoring 35 points compared to the Kings 21.

It was an embarrassing half for the Kings. It is worth noting that the Kings were also without Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee. The Kings defense was atrocious as they would need a massive second half to form a comeback. The Kings went into halftime down 62-44.

In the second half, the Kings played better but it wasn’t nearly enough to win the game. The Kings outscored the Pistons 30-27 in the third quarter. The Kings would need a massive fourth quarter to have a prayer in the game. In the fourth quarter, the Kings outscored the Pistons 27-24 as the Kings defense tightened up.

However, the Kings still fell to the Pistons 113-101. It was an embarrassing defeat for the Kings who fell to 22-30 in the standings. #1 Jeremiah, the Kings are coming off a four game losing streak after a tough loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday 116-106 they certainly are looking forward to some home cooking tonight.

#2 The Kings tried as hard as they may against the Timberwolves just had trouble getting any traction much like their previous loses.

#3 Jeremiah, losing these four games you can see there has been a drop in scoring in key quarters is this a matter of opponents turning up the defense or the Kings are just not getting the shots to fall?

#4 The Kings are pretty much relying on De’Aaron Fox who had 31 points leading the team in scoring in their last game against the Timberwolves what will it take to get another scorer to help Fox out and get the Kings over the hump to win some of these games?

#5 The Detroit Pistons tip off with the Kings tonight the Pistons have won only three in their last ten games the good news is the Kings are back at home at Golden One Center the bad news possibly will they struggle or play down to the level of the Pistons tonight?
