On the Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders who were fined Thursday by the NFL for violations regarding the Raiders Trent Brown’s coronavirus protocol violations were billed $500,000 and head coach Jon Gruden was fined $150,000.

#2 The Raiders were also stripped of a top draft pick because of the mishandling of Brown’s positive test. The Raiders do take a lot of pride on their selection of draft picks having the draft taken away how do you see that impacting them for their future?

#3 The Raiders are the first team in the NFL that have been penalized by losing a draft pick also the league gave the Raiders the stiff penalty because they already were scrutinizing Damon Arnette who was already was a positive.

#4 On Oct 19th Brown didn’t wear a mask and was found to be positive the next day Oct 20th and that forced four other starting offense players to also go into quarantine as they were high risk factors.

#5 The Raiders (4-3) are in Los Angeles to play the Chargers who are (2-5) the Chargers have lost five of their last six games. The Raiders are coming off a big win in Cleveland  Rich set this game up for us.

On the Raiders podcast with Barbara:

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders (4-3) beat a very good team in the Cleveland Browns (5-3) on Sunday 16-6 the score was a lot closer than that thanks to the Raiders defense.

#2 The Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield tried to score while inside the red zone but the Raiders did a good job forcing the Browns to have to kick field goals in the second and third quarters for their only scores.

#3 But on the Browns behalf their defense did a good job shutting out the Raiders in the first and third quarters.

#4 The Raiders who went into the fourth quarter tied 6-6 with Derek Carr throwing to wide receiver Hunter Renfrow that pretty much put Vegas over the top.

#5 Next Sunday it’s back to a former stomping ground where the Raiders used to call home and that’s Los Angeles where they’ll face the Los Angeles Chargers (2-5). The Chargers just lost a close game to the Denver Broncos Sunday 31-30. The Chargers are struggling they lost four of their last five games as they prepare for the Raiders Sunday.

Las Vegas has now experienced a typical cold November day in Cleveland.

In wind, rain, sleet and snow, the Raiders defense held the Cleveland Browns to just 223 total yards as Las Vegas escaped with a 16-6 win in Cleveland.

“We will take any win that we can get,” said head coach Jon Gruden.

Raiders’ kicker Daniel Carlson nailed three field goals from 29, 33 and 24 yards despite the bad weather.

“Probably the windiest game that I have ever played in,” said Carlson. “I had some good operation, good holds, good protection and got some points on the board the rest of the game.”

“Credit to Carlson for being able to kick the ball and make some field goals,” said Gruden. “It was a real obstacle for the kickers.”

The lone Raiders touchdown came on a four yard pass from quarterback Derek Carr to wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.

“I thought that I got my hands underneath it,” said Renfrow. “It turned a little bit at the end, but it was a touchdown and it was good times.”

Carr finished the game going 15 for 24 for 112 yards and one touchdown.

“Whenever you are able to do it the way we did it, everyone has to deal with the conditions, but a team that comes from Las Vegas, the desert, and gets a win, that’s a good feeling especially on the road,” said Carr.

Running back Josh Jacobs led the Raiders on the ground rushing 31 times for 128 yards.

With the win, the Raiders improved to 4-3 heading into their next game on Sunday in Los Angeles against the Chargers.

Game Notes:

  • The Raiders outgained the Browns in total yards, 309-223.
  • Tight end Darren Waller led the Raiders with only 28 yards receiving.
  • Nine different Raiders players caught at least one ball from QB Derek Carr.
  • The Raiders have now won two of their last three games.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Raiders prepare for an improved Cleveland Browns this Sunday

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

#1 Rich, talk about the breakdown in the Raiders defense that set the stage for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tom Brady who ended up scoring four touchdowns was this a matter of Brady being the tactician that he is or the Raiders defense just let down.

#2 The Raiders also struggled on offense as quarterback Derek Carr couldn’t get anything going Carr threw for 284 yards, two touchdowns and and two interceptions. Most afternoons that would be good enough to win a ball game but with the Buccaneers they piled up enough offense and scores that the Raiders couldn’t come close.

#3 The Raiders didn’t have much of a ground game they’re running backs Jalen Richard, Joshua Jacobs, and even Carr couldn’t score carrying the ball.

#4 In the air the Raiders were able to score twice with the help of wide receivers Nelson Agholor and Darren Waller although not enough at least it wasn’t a wash for the Raiders.

#5 The Cleveland Browns the Raiders next opponent on Sunday are 5-2 they just edged the Cincinnati Bengals 37-34 last Sunday and although they couldn’t handle the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-7 on Oct 18th previous to that game the Browns had won four straight.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Barbara Mason: Raiders to review the defense after getting clobbered by Bucs

The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (4) celebrates a touchdown pass to wide receiver Nelson Agholor (15) in the first half of play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sun Oct 25, 2020 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (AP News photo)

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Barbara Mason:

#1 The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into Vegas leaving very little doubt from the first half of Sunday’s game that they were going to make some noise all afternoon.

#2 The Bucs got to work early with quarterback Tom Brady carrying the ball for a yard for their first score at 5:41 in the first quarter and in the second quarter Brady threw to Ron Gronkowski and Scotty Miller for touchdowns and the Bucs came away with a 21-10 first half lead.

#3 The Raiders best defensive effort was the third quarter where they held the Bucs to only a field goal but the Bucs came out in the the fourth quarter with Brady throwing touchdown passes to Chris Godwin and Tyler Johnson and running back Ronald Jones II carried for a one yard touchdown and the Bucs came away with a convincing 45-20 win.

#4 The Raiders outside that third quarter just couldn’t contain Brady and the Buc O line gave Brady enough protection for him to accomplish four touchdowns in the game.

#5 The Raiders who dropped to 3-3 face the Cleveland Browns (5-2) next Sunday in Cleveland. The Browns after winning four straight games struggled in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-7 in week 7 and last Sunday just got by the Cincinnati Bengals 37-34

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Former Raider Antonio Brown joins Bucs; Was Raiders Trent Brown spreader after not wearing tracking device?

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown (24) will rejoin former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12) Brown is signed for the year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will start playing week 9 after Brown finishes out his suspension. (AP file photo)

On the Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 Rich former Raider Antonio Brown at one time was a guest in former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s home when he joined the Patriots. Brown was suspended by the NFL until week 9 of this season and on Friday signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the Raiders next opponent. Brown won’t be eligible to play this Sunday as he is still serving his suspension but will be back Sun Nov 8th to join the Bucs.

#2 Rich, the Raiders had a bye week last Sunday after coming off a week 5 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs the following week. Things were looking up but on Thursday five players have tested positive for the Raiders going into Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers each of these players were tested each day since Thursday.

#3 Jonathan Abrams, Kolton Miller, Denzelle Good, Rodney Hudson and Gabe Jackson are the five Raiders who need to be found negative before being allowed to play on Sunday how crucial are these players in this game against Tampa Bay?

#4 Rich the game between the Raiders and Bucs was scheduled to be the Sunday Night Football prime time game but had to be moved for the afternoon in the event the game was postponed the Seattle-Arizona game has been moved into the Sunday Night Football prime time spot.

#5 Rich, the NFL and the Players Association have investigated how these players might have contracted the virus Raiders offensive tackle Trent Brown was said not to have been wearing his tracker consistently which helps keep track of close contacts.

#6 So the big day has come where the Raiders will host Tom Brady and the Buccaneers this is an anticipated meeting and the Raiders who are coming off a close loss to the Buffalo Bills and a big win over the Kansas City Chiefs and had a bye week how ready are the Raiders to take on Brady and the Bucs this Sunday.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Barbara Mason: How concerned should the Raiders be about Brady and the Bucs?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady will be calling the counts against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football Oct 25th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (file photo from the Battle Creek Enquirer)

On the Raiders podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara the Raiders’ (2-3) biggest win of the season and biggest feather in their cap is their win in Kansas City against the Chiefs (4-1) Sun Oct 11th in what quarterback Derek Carr says was one of the Raiders greatest yet toughest achievements so far.

#2 You have to be asking yourself how the Raiders could keep a quarterback like the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes in check after all the things he’s done this season and last season.

#3 Carr’s line against the Chiefs 347 yards and three touchdowns was this a game where he had time to throw and had good protection or he was able to get rid of the ball faster than the Chiefs pass rush or both?

#4 The Raiders ground game was effective two touchdown carries from Josh Jacobs for 77 total yards

#5 The Raiders now host Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs handled the Green Bay Packers on Sunday rather handedly 38-10. Bucs quarterback Tom Brady threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Taking that into account what worries and concerns will the Raiders take into Sunday night’s game regarding Brady?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Raiders 3 sacks of Mahomes key to third quarter shutout last Sunday

The Las Vegas Raiders Derek Carr looks for a target to throw to against the Kansas City Chiefs pass rush. Carr threw for three touchdowns on Sun Oct 11, 2020 at Arrowhead Stadium (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 How inspiring was Raider quarterback Derek Carr’s statement saying “I’m so sick of losing” after week 4’s game against the Buffalo Bills that he came out threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday.

#2 For the Raiders it was their first victory at Arrowhead Stadium since 2012 and for Carr and the Raiders it was sweet victory and lots of relief.

#3 Two of the Raiders touchdowns came from the ground game and running back Josh Jacobs who also rushed for 23 yards for a total 77 yards he had quite an afternoon last Sunday carry the ball against the Chiefs.

#4 For Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes it would have been just another day at the office with his 340 yards, two touchdowns but it was his three passes that were intercepted and the Raiders defense shutting the Chiefs out in the third quarter that changed Mahomes plans last Sunday.

#5 How important is it for the Chiefs coming off this loss to the Raiders to have signed running back Le’Veon Bell is it a message from head caoch Andy Reid and company that they don’t want a repeat of this kind of a loss again?

#6 The Raiders (2-3) will have a bye here in week six how important is it to get some of important rest before the Raiders prepare for Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sun Oct 25th at Allegiant Stadium for Sunday Night Football.

By Shawm McCullough

After last week’s loss to Buffalo, Raiders quarterback Derek Car said, “I’m sick of losing”.

That seemed to have sparked his teammates as the Raiders went into Arrowhead Stadium and knocked off the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, 40-32.

“I’m really proud of our guys,” said head coach Jon Gruden. “We beat a really good football team.  We had a lot of guys step up.”

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr snapped a personal 6 game losing streak, being 0-6 in his career against Kansas City before the game.

“I have taken a lot of sad walks up that ramp, but not today,” said Carr. “I am going to enjoy this one.”

Carr threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns, one each to Henry Ruggs, Nelson Agholor and Darren Waller.

“He has been through a lot here as a Raider,” said Gruden of Carr. “This was certainly a big win for him.”

Ruggs returned from missing two games with a hamstring injury, catching two balls for 118 yards including a 72 yard touchdown.

“It just shows that we are not here to lay down, we are here to compete,” said Ruggs.

The Raiders last beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in a 26-16 win on October 28, 2012.  Carson Palmer was the Raiders quarterback in that game.

“What better opportunity to see what this team is made of?,” said Carr. “This team is legit.”

With the win, the Raiders improved to 3-2 on the season heading into their bye week.

Game Notes:

  • The Raiders outgained the Chiefs in total yards, 490-413.
  • Raiders’ running back Josh Jacobs rushed 23 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Eleven different Raiders players caught at least one ball from QB Derek Carr.
  • The Chiefs loss ended a 13 game winning streak.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Raiders drawing up a game plan face Chiefs Sunday at Arrowhead

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is exalted after throwing a long pass in Super Bowl 54 against the San Francisco 49ers on Sun Feb 2, 2020 (AP News photo file)

Rich Perez on the Raiders podcast:

#1 Rich how concerned should the Raiders be in facing the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Arrowhead?

#2 Taking the Bills game last week into consideration a seven point win for the Bills 30-23 considering they kept it close with the Bills can they do the same against the Chiefs.

#3 Taking a look at Bills quarterback Josh Allen who threw two touchdown passes for 288 yards against the Raiders how much of a struggle was it to defend against the Bills offense?

#4 Last week against Buffalo Raiders quarterback Derek Carr went 32-44 for 311 yards and two touchdowns not a bad offensive day but just a day late and dollar short.

#5 Sunday the Raiders play in a very difficult venue Arrowhead Stadium and the Chiefs are no shrinking violets their all in, what do the Raiders have to do to keep this one close?
