The game remained tied 10-10 with the second quarter winding down. Las Vegas had more in store for the Rams. With 1:35 left in the half, the Raiders Isaiah Pola-Mao had an interception return for 50 yards, breaking the tie giving the Raiders the lead 17-10. Just before the half, Raider kicker Daniel Carlson sent a 30 yard field goal through the uprights. Las Vegas took a 20-10 lead into the locker room.

Stetson Bennett rushed for four yards and a Ram touchdown. Los Angeles had cut the Raiders lead to 27-17.

The Raiders were relentless scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Las Vegas had scored in every quarter of this game. Aiden O’Connell threw his second touchdown of the game, a two yard pass to Kristian Wilkerson. The Raiders were cruising with a 34-17 lead. That would be the final.

The Raiders won this game through the air passing for 342 yards. O’Connell was 11 of 18 for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Las Vegas rushed for a total of 98 yards.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Raiders season ends with a thud in 31-13 loss to Chiefs

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jarrett Stidham (3) scrambles away from Kansas City Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis (56) during the first half at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sat Jan 7, 2023 (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#2 The Chiefs took the Raiders out of this game early, in the first half the Chiefs came away with a healthy 24-3 lead and quarterback Pat Mahomes set the tone early.

#3 Mahhomes also set an NFL record for the most passing and yards rushing in a season with 5562 yards previously held by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees in 2011.

#4 With the win the Chiefs now get to play either the Buffalo Bills or the Cincinnati Bengals on a neutral field.

#5 The Raiders last game of the season saw quarterback Jarett Stidham go 22-36 for 219 yards and one touchdown and one interception. He simply couldn’t do anything against the Chiefs pass rush Saturday.

Raiders Finish Season With a Loss To Rival Chiefs – 31-13

By Barbara Mason

Saturday afternoon the Las Vegas Raiders (6-11) lost to the Kansas City Chiefs (14-3) at Allegiant Stadium 31-13 wrapping up their 2022-23 season. After last week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, Raiders fans looked forward to another game with Jarrett Stidham at the helm. He was nothing short of amazing amassing 365 yards in that game. For Stidham on Saturday against the Chiefs he was 22-36 for 219 yards, one touchdown and threw an interception.

This was a tall order for Las Vegas. The Chiefs are playoff bound and they matched up against the Raiders well and had to watch out for Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce all afternoon. It’s a sure bet that these two have factored into the Raiders game plan. In the last meeting between these two teams Kelce scored four touchdowns and Mahomes Saturday against the Raiders threw for 265 yards, a lethal combination. Mahomes set an NFL record for the most passing and yards rushing in a season. Mahomes rushed for a total of 5562 yards.

After the tumultuous week the Raiders went through; the horrendous episode everyone all witnessed on Monday night football involving safety Damar Hamlin and the remarkable progress this young man has seen has been an answer to nationwide, in fact, worldwide prayer. Players and coaches in pre-game warm-up wore “Love for Damar” shirts a testament to the tight-knit NFL community.

Saturday game recap: Despite the game being played in Las Vegas, the Chiefs scored in their first possession to take the early lead 7-0. It was a Mahomes to Jerick McKinnon pass for 2 Yds. The Raiders were unable to score a touchdown but settled for a Daniel Carlson 54 yard field goal trailing 7-3.

It was a bumpy road for Las Vegas in the second quarter. The Chiefs scored two rushing touchdowns. The first at 14:56 a Ronald Jones two yard rush. At 0.49 Kadarius Toney rushed for 11 yards and the Chiefs third touchdown of the game. With seconds left on the clock before the half the Chiefs intercepted a pass intended for Mack Hollins. Harrison Butker went on to kick a 44 yard field goal giving the Chiefs a 24-3 lead at halftime.

The Raiders had been able to move the ball but had not been to find the end zone. They would drive into Chief territory but had to settle for field goals every time. At 6:55 in the third quarter kicker Daniel Carlson kicked a 38 yard field goal. Las Vegas desperately needed to score touchdowns trailing 24-6.

Going into the fourth quarter the Chiefs had a strangle hold on this game; everything was going their way. Kansas City had four red zone possessions and four touchdowns. Their fourth touchdown was a fourth quarter strike. Isiah Pacheco rushed for one yard giving the Chiefs a 31-6 lead. The Raider were able to score a touchdown late in the fourth. Stidham found Hunter Renfrow in the end zone. The Chiefs had clinched for the top seed in the playoffs.

Kansas City ran rough shod all over the Raiders the entire game. Stidham did not have a great game. Granted he did complete some nice passes but was intercepted and he was just inconsistent.

Patrick Mahomes finished with 202 yards targeting seven different receivers. The Chiefs will now start preparing for the playoffs while the Raiders will be looking into what went so wrong this season as well as what this team will look like next season at the quarterback position.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: NFL exec says Carr’s removal was “classless” and “trash”

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr throws one of his last passes for the Raiders in his last game with the team on Sat Dec 24, 2022 in Pittsburgh (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 Rich an unnamed NFL executive said that the Las Vegas Raiders way of cutting Derek Carr was “classless” and that the organization treated him like “trash” after letting him go after the Raiders loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec 24th.

#2 The Raiders in releasing Carr incur $5.25 million of dead cap room and in all intensive purposes from all appearances the Raiders are set to release or trade Carr. Carr reportedly has blocked the Raiders on his social media accounts.

#3 Football is a business but benching Carr after being the starting quarterback for nine years and not letting him suit up and be with the team after some of the close games the Raiders had been in just didn’t make sense.

#4 Jarrett Stidham the new starting quarterback for the Raiders had a incredible first game against the San Francisco 49ers including a 60 yard touchdown pass that put the Raiders up by ten. The Raiders however couldn’t hold onto the lead and lost it by a field goal in overtime.

#5 The Raiders host the Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday at Allegiant Stadium to close out their regular season. The Chiefs are coming in hot they’ve won four straight games and are 13-3 Rich what is your prediction for this match up on Saturday?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: 49ers overtime field goal eliminates Raiders from post season

San Francisco 49ers place kicker Robbie Gould (9) kicks a 23-yard field goal during overtime that defeated the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sun Jan 1, 2023 (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

#1 Rich, the Las Vegas Raiders (6-10) had a ten point 24-14 lead with 10:22 left in the third quarter after wide receiver Devante Adams caught a 60 yard pass from quarterback Jarrett Stidham at that point it looked as if the Raiders might just have a shot at this game.

#2 But the reputation of not holding onto leads befelled the Raiders as the San Francisco 49ers (12-4) in pursuit of their ninth straight win tied up the game with at 12:34 when kicker Robbie Gould booted a 43 yard field goal to make it 24-24 and the 49ers never looked back at that point.

#3 Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson hit a 57 yarder with 4:08 remaining in the game to tie it up 27-27 and their was just that faint light at the tunnel for the Raiders.

#4 It was not to be for the Raiders every time the Raiders would tie the game the 49ers would come back and take the lead. With the score tied 34-34 with 6:53 left in overtime Robbie Gould delivered again for the 49ers kicking a 23 yard field goal to hand the 49ers a 37-34 win at Allegiant Stadium.

#5 The Raiders close out the 2022-23 season with a match up against the Kansas City Chiefs (13-3) at Allegiant Stadium. The Chiefs also come into Allegiant one of the NFL’s hottest teams with a four game winning streak. What is your prediction for the outcome of this contest?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Carr benched looks to be finished with Raiders; Eagles express interest in quarterback

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (4) was feeling the pressure of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense all game long particularly the second half where the Raiders were shutout on Sat Dec 24, 2022 in Pittsburgh (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich Perez:

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels expressed his disappointment in the last two loses to the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers both loses came in the last minute of the games. The Raiders in the second half of their game in Pittsburgh were completely shutout and quarterback Derek Carr could not get the ball moving.

On Wednesday McDaniels addressing the media said that Carr will be benched for the next two games and it was also reported that Carr will not even be in Allegiant Stadium suited up or otherwise for the games against the 49ers and Chiefs as the Raiders finish out their season in the next two weeks in Las Vegas.

Carr was not at practice on Wednesday and most likely he was told by McDaniels when he came to practice Wednesday morning that he would be benched and that he needed to clear out his locker his season was done. There had been talk that the Philadelphia Eagles who are looking for a starting quarterback are preparing to make a trade offer with the Raiders who earned over $22 million this season with the Raiders has three years left on his contract which the Eagles and Raiders might end up splitting.

Jarrett Stidham will be the Raiders new starting quarterback and Chase Garbers will be his back up. Stidham got a few snaps this season will see action against a powerful San Francisco 49ers defense whose pass rush is one of the most effective in pro football no doubt this will truly be a big test for Stidham and the Raiders offensive line trying to protect him.

The Raiders might express interest in Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Matt Ryan if Stidham doesn’t pan out. Ryan will be a healthy scratch on Monday Night Football and will be replaced by Nick Foles. The Raiders might take a look at Ryan in the off season and he could be on the Raiders short list in finding a starting quarterback for 2023.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: 49ers Purdy drops Commanders with two TDs and great offensive performance

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (13) rushes the ball in the second half of an NFL football game against the Washington Commanders at Levi Stadium Santa Clara on Sat Dec 23, 2022 (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 Joe, there was little doubt where the contest between the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers were headed. The 49ers offense showed control and quarterback Brock Purdy threw for two touchdowns in the win.

#2 The 49ers are unstoppable at this point they worked hard and beat some of the best teams in the NFL and as their reward they have won eight straight games also Purdy is the first quarterback in franchise history start at 3-0.

#3 Washington has now lost two in a row and their playoff hopes have dimmed after this loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

#4 Purdy had three balls tipped down at the line of scrimmage during the first two quarters that kept 49ers from establishing a rhythm on offense.

#5 The Niners are their way to Las Vegas to face off with the Raiders (7-8) the Raiders have won four of their last six games. The Niners defense have been the tops in the NFL how do you see this match up next Sunday.
