#1  New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge will go on the ten day IL suffering from a right elbow flexor strain. The injury during a scan did not show any damage to the elbo and will not require surgery but a big bat out of the Yankees line up.

#2 Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said “wheels up” regarding the return of Mookie Betts who was out due to a death in the family. Betts went to attend to his family in Nashville. The Dodgers had the day off Thursday and made it back to join the Dodgers in Boston before first pitch.

#3 Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Edmundo Sosa was elbowed in the back by left fielder Brandon Marsh when they collided while making a catch on the New York Yankees Jazz Chisholm Jr in the seventh inning. Sosa said he was feeling a little tight after the game but said he should be back in the line up on Sunday.

#4 Tough outing on Friday for San Francisco Giants starter Logan Webb he was lit up by the New York Mets at Oracle Park in four innings eight hits, six earned runs, one walk and four strike outs. Webb suffered the most runs given up in the first four innings of the game.

#5 San Francisco Giants who were crushed on Friday night 8-1 suffered another hit when it was announced that right hand starter Landen Roupp was placed on the 15 day IL with elbow inflammation. Roupp had an MRI and was negative for structural issues.

#1 San Francisco Giants came back down 2-1 with their 13th comeback of the season to sweep and defeat the Sacramento A’s 3-2 on Sunday. The Giants are now tied for the most comeback wins in MLB.

#2 San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy who signed a $265 million five year contract becomes the eighth highest paid quarterback in the NFL. Question is will Purdy get the protection from his offensive line or will he be running for his life. Also the 49ers have been scheduled for five prime time games despite struggling and losing their last four games in a row in 2024.

#3 Golden State Warriors will regroup after their rough post season losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves and losing their start player Stephen Curry due to a hamstring injury. The Warriors are still trying to decide Jonathan Kuminga’s role for next season and will he be back?

#1 Major League Commissioner Rob Manfred said that the torpedo bat is “absolutely good for baseball.” After all the attention that the torpedo bat has created Manfred addressed it’s legitmacy saying, “I believe that issues like the torpedo bat and the debate around it demonstrate the fact that baseball still occupies a unique place in our culture,”

#2 Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell has been placed on the 15 day IL suffering from left shoulder inflammation. Snell now 1-0 ERA 2.00 in two starts this season. Snell signed with the Dodgers for five years for $182 million.

#3 Due to weather issues the times have changed for the New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers times have been moved up. Wind chills have been forecasted for Monday and Tuesday to be in the 20s. The game that was scheduled from Monday has been moved up from 6:40pm to 3:10 and for Tuesday and Wednesday now at 1:10pm.

#4 Milwaukee Brewers left hand pitcher Nestor Cortes has been placed on the 15 day IL with a flexor strain in his left elbow. The Brewers pitching staff is depleted of their starting pitcher. With Cortes on the shelf the Brewers have Freddy Peralta as their only healthy starting pitcher in the starting rotation.

#5  Los Angeles Dodgers Shohei Ohtani threw a 26 pitch session on Saturday before the Dodgers played the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. Ohtani making a step closer to returning as a starter for the Dodgers. Ohtani has been out of the pitching rotation since Sep 19, 2023 this was his second bullpen session.

#1 Bruce, just wanted to get your take on San Francisco 49ers Brandon Aiyuk whose been pushing for a trade. The Pittsburgh Steelers at the end of the business day on Friday made a bid for Aiyuk and the New England Patriots who were talking turkey but Aiyuk turned the Patriots offer down. The deal with the Steelers is a matter if there is something the 49ers and Pittsburgh can agree on. There is also a chance that Aiyuk could remain with the 49ers without an extension as this is his last year with the 49ers.

#2 It didn’t take long before the 49ers had sustained it’s first injury and that’s what happened to cornerback Ambry Thomas who broke his forearm in Saturday’s first pre season game in Tennessee. Thomas tried to tackle Titans quarterback Mason Rudolph but missed and collapsed on the field and when Thomas got up tried not to move his right arm and ran off the field letting the arm hang from the shoulder.

#3 Turning to baseball the San Francisco Giants have taken the first two games of this current series with the Detroit Tigers on Friday the Giants won it on a Chad Pinder sac fly that allowed the winning run to score from third base in the ninth and on Saturday the Giants rallied for three runs in the sixth inning and that’s all they needed for a 3-1 win over the Tigers. The Giants are now three games over .500 the for the first time since last season.

#4 Paris Olympics in men’s basketball The Team USA on Saturday put the Team France to bed in a 98-87. Team USA’s Stephen Curry led with 24 points five assists, and eight three pointers. Curry started out slow in the beginning of the games but is now into his rhythm. Curry hit four 3’s in the last 2:48 of the contest.

#5 Too much injuries in pre season football continues as the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown went to the hospital for an exam after injuring his shoulder against the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday. Brown ran for an 11 yard gain on a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes but after a gain of 11 was tackled and landed on his left shoulder. Word from the Chiefs Brown is expected to be out for significant period of time.

#1 Philadelphia Phillies LHP Christopher Sanchez (7-4, ERA 2.96) will be replacing Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale on the National League All Star roster. Sale is scheduled to pitch today and won’t pitch in the All Star Game in Arlington on Tuesday. With the addition of Sanchez that gives the Phillies eight all stars five of them pitchers a All Star record for most pitchers from one club.

#2 Not even Babe Ruth did it New York Yankees Aaron Judge belted his 34th home run the most home runs by a Yankees player before the All Star Break. Roger Maris who held the record for the most home runs in a season until being eclipsed by the St Louis Cardinals Mark McGwire hit 33 home run before the All Star break in 1961. So big achievement for Judge.

#3 The Detroit Tigers Gio Urshela hit a two run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to help the Tigers make a comeback on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Comerica Park. The Tigers were down 9-4 in the ninth and tied it up 9-9 to force extra innings. With Urshela’s home run the Tigers came away with a 11-9 win.

#4 It was reported that the Pittsburgh Pirates Paul Skenes is disrupting the sportsbook with his success. One sportsbook had stopped betting on the possible National League Rookie of the Year. Skenes has been on a roll. Skenes was a 200-1 odds on long shot to win the Cy Young Award. Skenes is now in third place at a shot at winning the Cy Young behind the Phillies Zack Wheeler and the Braves Chris Sale. Skenes has also been named to the NL All Star team.

#5 Oakland A’s Spanish broadcaster Amaury Pi Gonzalez wrote that the A’s last home game ever in Oakland before moving to Sacramento next season could very well be a sell out. Amaury said that final home game on Thu Sep 26th at the Oakland Coliseum could see a capacity of 42,000 the fans last chance to say goodbye to the A’s as an Oakland team.

#6 Before we let you go we have to ask you about the announced retirement of A’s broadcaster Vince Cotroneo who has called A’s games since 2006 and will not work A’s games next season as the club plays it’s 2025 season in Sacramento.
