Giants shut out Phillies 6-0 on the backs of Robbie Ray and Daniel Susac

SAN FRANCISCO – Robbie Ray shut down the powerful Philadelphia lineup in his 6.2 inning line of work. Daniel Susac led the Giants’ offense with his 3-for-4, 2 RBI performance becoming the first player to go 5-for-5 in their first five Major League at-bats since Ted Cox with the Red Sox in 1977. Walker and Winn held down the fort out of the bullpen in 6-0 shutout win. 

The Giants, looking to avoid a fifth straight loss, hosted the Phillies for game two of a three game series Tuesday night at Oracle Park. San Francisco’s bullpen blew another late-game lead, allowing four runs in the seventh inning after Adrian Houser got through six innings with minimal trouble. It was the second game in a row the bullpen had given up costly runs in a late frame, after allowing four runs to score in the eighth inning of Sunday’s series finale with the New York Mets. 

Robbie Ray entered Tuesday’s matchup with a chip on his shoulder to put an end to the abysmal losing stretch. Behind his 3.38 ERA through 10.2 innings in two starts, Ray went the deepest into a game he’s gone so far holding the Phillies scoreless with just three hits through 6.2 innings.  

Willy Adames got the offense started early with a leadoff double against Phillies’ starter Cristopher Sanchez. A Matt Chapman single moved him to third and Luis Arraez dribbled one down the first base line to bring Adames home. It was the first time the Giants scored a run in the first inning since last Thursday against the Mets and it would end up being all they needed.

Arraez drove in two of the four runs in the win putting him one behind Matt Chapman(7) for the team RBI lead. 

Daniel Susac got the start behind the plate for the first time since his outstanding debut in the starting lineup last Thursday. He went 3-for-3 and reached base in all four of his plate appearances. He was included in a short rally when he singled in the second inning becoming the first Giant since Willy McCovey to record a hit in each of his first four Major League at-bats. He recorded two more hits including a two-run triple in the eighth inning to put the game out of reach. 

Ryan Walker relieved Ray of his duties continuing the shutout, throwing 1.1 innings of one-hit baseball while striking out one. 

Keaton Winn secured the win with his scoreless ninth inning. Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, and Bryce Harper went a combined 3-for-10 while being shutout by a dominant performance by Giants pitching, the first shutout victory since September 28, 2025. 

The rubber match of the three game set will take place Wednesday afternoon with a 12:45pm first pitch at Oracle Park. The Giants will try for their second series win of the season.

Sacramento A’s game wrap: A’s can’t hold lead, Yanks rally for four runs in 8th for 5-3 win

NEW YORK.—The Sacramento Athletics fell to the New York Yankees 5-3 in the series opener at Yankee Stadium after the home team rallied in the eighth inning on Tuesday night.

New York went 0 for 12 with runners on base and went into the eight inning down 3-1. But Amed Rosario’s second home run of the night sealed the Yankees’ comeback.

“It’s a tough loss, for sure. Their lineup is tough and you gotta try to navigate it,” said A’s manager Mark Kotsay. “It’s unfortunate, guys had a 3-1 lead in the eighth. You want to secure those wins and we gotta figure out a way to do that.”

Rosario hit his first home run on a fly ball to left field in the second inning to put the Yankees up 1-0.

In the third inning, Nick Kurtz doubled on a sharp line drive to center fielder Trent Grisham, allowing Max Muncy and Jeff McNeil to score and giving the A’s a 2-1 lead. Then Tyler Soderstrom doubled to right field on fan interference and Kurtz scored, boosting the A’s to 3-1.

In the eighth, Giancarlo Stanton singled on a line drive to center fielder Denzel Clarke and Cody Bellinger Scored, cutting the A’s lead to 3-2. Then Rosario hit another homer on a fly ball to left field, allowing Ben Rice and Randal Grichuk to score and putting the Yankees up 5-3.

A’s right-handed pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. was caught off guard by Stanton’s hit going in the direction it did, said Kotsay.

“It led to opening up that inning,” said the manager.

A’s starting pitcher Aaron Civale allowed just one run over five innings pitched, but did not record a decision. He allowed a solo home run to Rosario in the second, and just one hit in his final 15 batters. He said he’s working on integrating quickly with the A’s after bouncing around for the last few years.

“Just feel like they’ve done a good job of understanding who I am and going out there and doing that,” said Civale. “If the game plan works where there’s a certain weakness or strength on the hitter’s side, try to overlay that. But at the end of the day, just try to be me at the end of the day and go out there and compete.”

The A’s (3-7) are 0-1 to start their six-game road trip, which continues on to the New York Mets. First pitch for game two against the Yankees (8-2) on Wednesday is at 4:05 p.m. PT. Starting pitcher for Sacramento former Yankee RHP Luis Severino (0-1 ERA 6.48) for New York RHP Will Warren (1-0 ERA 2.70) at Yankee Stadium.

Golden State Warriors game wrap: Warriors Snap 4-Game Losing Streak & Beat Kings, 110-105

SAN FRANCISCO – After losing four games in a row, three of them at home, the Golden State Warriors were able to grab a Dub on the Sacramento Kings as Golden State celebrated Asian Heritage Night. This home game was their second-to-last home game, so the Warriors wanted to defend their home and hopefully end their last four games with wins, starting with this one. Also, this would be Golden State’s 605th consecutive sellout. The final score on this Tuesday evening was 110-105, with the Warriors winning by 5 points.

After missing 27 straight games (February 3–April 2) due to right patellofemoral discomfort syndrome, Stephen Curry returned to the starting lineup on April 5 against Houston (the Warriors were 9–18 in those games). Curry last played in a game before April 5 on January 30 against Detroit; he left the game with 4:08 remaining in the third quarter. At 8:38 in the first quarter, Curry came off the bench in a regular-season game for the first time since March 7, 2012, against Memphis, and for the seventh time in his career (Warriors 3-4 in those games).

The Golden State roster is still hurting from the team’s injuries. The Warriors sent out Patrick Spencer, Malevy Leons, Draymond Green, De’Anthony Melton, and Brandin Podziemski as their starters. This is Golden State’s second-to-last home game, and the teams’ third time seeing each other this season. The series for this season was tied entering this game, 1-1, but now the Warriors lead the series match-up, 2-1. These two teams last faced off on January 9th, 2026, here in Chase Center at the Bay. With Golden State winning by 34 points, 137-103.

The Sacramento Kings are also in the same situation as the Warriors with injuries. The team has 8 players out due to injury. So with that, the Kings started with Precious Achiuwa, Maxime Raynaud, Daeqwon Plowden, Devin Carter, and Nique Clifford. The Kings have been eliminated from the playoffs, and is doing their best to end the season with some wins.

Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski got the game from the free throw line after being fouled by Kings guard Nique Clifford. After that, both of the teams would go back and forth on exchanging buckets. With the Kings and Warriors both shooting the same on the floor. Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry would come off the bench again , after this game, just being his second game returning from injury.

After the first quarter, the Kings held the lead by one point, 26-25. One thing about these two teams is that the games will always be close to a certain point. The Kings and Warriors were shooting about the same on the floor in all categories. Sacramento and Golden State’s playing style and performance were the exact same, and already there were ten lead changes.

Halfway through the second quarter, the Warriors were starting to get comfortable, seeing some shots go in, and being cautious with the ball. Sacramento shooting above 50% in their categories is keeping them in, but Golden State hit some big three-pointers to give them the momentum. Also, the Warriors’ transition and hustle were big factors on how the score was starting to change.

The Warriors went into the final minutes making five three-pointers, two of which would end up being four point play conversions by Stephen Curry. His shots from deep are what helped push the Warriors’ lead even more. By halftime, the score was 66-53, and Golden State led over Sacramento. At the moment, the Warriors were being lead by guard Stephen Curry with his 14 points, three rebounds, and going 3-of-6 from deep.

Throughout the third quarter, both teams would have a big jump in their turnovers, especially Golden State. The Warriors would go from five turnovers to 16 turnovers. However, both teams took advantage of each other’s turnovers as both teams had pick up 19 points from it. The Warriors would shoot eight three pointers, but went cold, as they only made just one of them. Golden State would just drop 19 points in the third quarter.

The Kings’ resilience and hustle were their factor on how they kept them in the game. King’s guard Killian Hayes would hit his third three-pointer of the night. With that shot going in right before the end of the third quarter, the Warriors would hold on to the lead by just four points, 85-81. Although the Kings only made two three-pointers in the third as well, Sacramento’s presence in the paint helped a lot as they had more than the Warriors in there, the Kings would have 40 points compared to the Warriors’ 34 points.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the Kings were pressuring more on defense and showing more of their intensity as they were able to get within two points. By the eight minute mark, the Kings were up by two points, 91-89. The Kings were able to see more shots go in than the Warriors, and just fight for more rebounds than them when it mattered to help solidify their lead.

Entering the last three minutes of play, the score was 104-100, the Kings lead by three points. “The Battle of NorCal” never disappoints wherever its being played at, whether in San Francisco or Sacramento. As Kings and Warriors exchange three-pointers in back-to-back sequences. Warriors Brandin Podziemski would hit a 24-foot three pointer that gave Golden State the lead, and was ultimately the dagger on the Kings. After that, the Warriors would run out the clock and take the win.

Out of the nine players that Golden State played, six of them were in double digits. However, it would be De’Anthony Melton leading the team tonight with his 21 points, four rebounds, and five assists. In his second game back, Stephen Curry dropped 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists to get the Warriors’ 22nd home win this season. The Warriors would end the night with 17 made three-pointers.

The Golden State Warriors return to Chase Center on Thursday evening and will host the Los Angeles Lakers. That game will be the final home regular season game for the Warriors, so Golden State again will defend their home, and will try to get a win for Dub Nation in the home finale. The Kings and Warriors will see each other one more time, but in Sacramento this Friday on April 10th in Golden 1 Center.

Barracuda extend losing streak to 2, fall 5-2 to San Diego Gulls

SAN JOSE-The San Jose Barracuda couldn’t maintain taking a 5-2 loss to the San Diego Gulls at Tech CU on Tuesday afternoon in the South Bay. San Diego opened up the scoring, netting their first goal just two minutes into the game. Matthew Phillips scored his 14th goal of the season, Roger McQueen registering the lone assist.

San Jose tied it at 1-1 when Oliver Wahlstrom scored his 24th goal of the season. Colin White registering the primary assist and Filip Bystedt registering the secondary assist. San Jose took their first lead of the game when Patrick Giles scored his tenth goal of the season. Nolan Allan registered the primary assist and Donovan Houle registering the secondary assist.

San Diego tied the game at 2-2 when Sasha Pastujov scored his 20th goal of the season. Sam Colagenlo registering the primary assist and Nikolas Brouillard registered the secondary assist. San Diego then took the 3-2 lead when Nathan Gaucher scored his 13th goal of the season. Nikolas Brouillard registered the primary assist while Nico Myatovic registered the secondary assist.

San Diego extended their lead to 4-2 when Sam Colangelo scored his sixth powerplay goal of the season. Tristan Luneau registered the primary assist and Sasha Pastujov registered the secondary assist. San Diego sealed the win when Nathan Gaucher scored his second of the game to make it 5-2.

After the first period, San Jose outshot San Diego 11-8. After the second period, both teams had equally ten shots on goal. After the third period, San Jose outshot San Diego 16-8.

Coming into Tuesday’s game, San Jose was second on the powerplay and third on the penalty kill. For Tuesday, San Jose went 1/4 on the powerplay. For San Diego, they came in seventh on the powerplay and first on the penalty kill. For Tuesday, San Diego went 1/3 on the powerplay.

Laurent Brossoit was Tuesday’s starting goalie for San Jose. Making 21 saves on 35 shots, Brossoit recorded Tuesday’s loss. For San Diego, Calle Clang was Tuesday’s starting goalie. Making 35 saves on 37 shots, Clang recorded Tuesday’s win.

Sharks Recovered Form and Sealed a 3-2 Win Over Chicago

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Sharks overcame a slow start and a highlight-reel play from Connor Bedard to rally past the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 on Monday night, keeping their postseason hopes alive in the final stretch of the regular season.

Chicago struck first in the opening period after Bedard dazzled through the neutral zone, weaving past defenders and circling behind the net before sending a pass into the slot. Ryan Donato capitalized on the rebound at the right circle, finding himself in the right place at the right time to give the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead against a Sharks team that struggled defensively early.

San Jose responded in the second period with a much more aggressive and composed effort. William Eklund ignited the comeback with a strong defensive play, stripping the puck and racing in alone before finishing on a breakaway to tie the game 1-1.

The momentum continued to swing in favor of San Jose as their forecheck intensified. Kiefer Sherwood added to the surge, converting on a sequence created by sustained pressure, with assists credited to Henry Thrun (or Graf if applicable) and Macklin Celebrini. The Sharks’ ability to dictate pace and win puck battles led to another tally later in the period, turning a once-flat performance into a multi-goal response that gave them control heading into the third.

Early in the final frame, Will Smith extended the lead, scoring just over three minutes into the period to make it 3-1 and further cement San Jose’s turnaround. Chicago had an opportunity to respond on the power play, but despite generating chances, they were unable to break through consistently. While the Blackhawks managed to apply pressure, the Sharks held firm enough to prevent any meaningful comeback.

Goaltending and improved defensive structure in the final two periods proved decisive for San Jose, who limited second-chance opportunities after a shaky opening 20 minutes.

With the victory, the San Jose Sharks remain in the hunt for a Western Conference wild-card spot as the regular season winds down. The race remains tight, with the Los Angeles Kings currently holding the second wild-card position.

San Jose now turns its attention to a crucial matchup against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night, a game that could significantly impact their playoff chances with just a week remaining in the season.

Giants bullpen blows another late-inning lead in 6-4 loss to the Phillies

SAN FRANCISCO–For the second day in a row, the San Francisco Giants blew a late-inning lead as the Philadelphia Phillies rally from 4-0 down to win 6-4 at Oracle Park.

After starting pitcher Adrian Houser gave up back-to-back singles to start the seventh inning, Giants manager Tony Vitello brought in lefty Ryan Borucki to try and get through Phillies sluggers Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. That did not go well, as Schwarber walked and Harper hit the game-tying single. The next batter Alec Bohm hit a ground-ball single that gave the Phillies a 5-4 lead, one they would not give back. The Phillies tacked on another run later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Marsh.

Some may question Vitello’s decision to bring in Borucki in a leverage spot against two of the best hitters in the game. Borucki is a journeyman pitcher who had a 4.63 ERA in 35 innings with both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays. Fellow lefty Matt Gage, who has yet to give up an earned run this season, was not used in the high leverage spot and the Giants paid for it. Gage would go on to pitch a scoreless eighth inning, with the Giants down 6-4.

This latest bullpen blow up comes after Keaton Winn and Erik Miller gave up four runs combined in the eighth inning on Sunday against the New York Mets, giving the Mets a 5-2 come-from-behind victory. The Giants were up 2-1 at the start of the eighth inning on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday night, the Giants finally showed some offense in the third inning, where they scored three runs against Phillies starter Andrew Painter. Painter came into the year 1-0, with a 1.69 ERA. After Willy Adames starting the inning with a double, Luis Arraez followed with an RBI double of his own to give the Giants an early 1-0 lead. Giants third baseman Matt Chapman then tripled in another run. Two batters later, Giants left fielder Heliot Ramos singled in Chapman to give the Giants a 3-0 lead.

The Giants tacked on another run in the fourth inning on a Luis Arraez sacrifice fly. The Giants were up 4-0 and feeling good, but the Phillies got on the board in the fifth inning with two runs of their own. Two singles from the eighth and ninth spots in the batting order ended up scoring in that inning off of Houser.

The Giants did not score another run after the fourth inning. In fact, they only had 2 hits after the fourth inning–a single by Jung Hoo Lee in the eighth and a double by Adames in the ninth.

Houser ended up pitching well, better than his line score indicated. He ended up going six innings, giving up four runs on nine hits and two walks. He struck out three batters.

The Giants are now 3-8 on the year, not the start that Vitello wanted to begin his Giants career. In 2000, the Giants did start the year 3-9 and ended up winning the National League West with 97 wins, but that team had Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent in the middle of their order and Felix Rodriguez and Robb Nen on the back end of the bullpen. The Giants will hope to turn things around quickly, or they can find themselves buried quite early in the season.

Up next, the Giants will try again on Tuesday to get right as they take on the Phillies again in Game 2 of the series. Robbie Ray (1-1, 3.38 ERA) will take the mound for the Giants against lefty Cristopher Sanchez (1-0, 0.79 ERA). Game time is at 6:45 p.m.
