#1 In the past three weeks the Raiders have turned the ball over ten times, had 25 penalties that costed them 201 yards.

#2 Two of the penalties were two digit penalties and they called on infractions that officials ended up spotting the ball a good ten or more yards against them.

#3 The Raiders are now averaging three turnovers a game. Is this a matter of pressing, not being focused, or just plain getting hit hard by the opposition whose forcing fumbles?

#4 Las Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce said “We’ve got to stop beating ourselves with turnovers, with penalties,” Pierce said Monday. “When opportunities are there, we have to make them. We’re not doing that right now.”

#5 The Raiders face a 6-0 Kansas City Chiefs team who are on a hot roll. Will this be a game where the Chiefs will simply be unstoppable and have their way with the Raiders or will it be a game of the Raiders will regroup and just might be able to keep in step with the Chiefs?

#1 Amaury the lowest priced ticket for a for game 1 ticket of the 2024 World Series is $1122 at Dodger Stadium. That’s a little over $500 over what the Sacramento A’s want for a ticket at Sutter Health Park for a regular season game. It’s got to the point where you can’t afford to go to a ball game anymore.

#2 The A’s are offering season ticket plans that run $15,000 to $20,000 a seat which works out to $300 a game. Is this a matter of the A’s getting over on the Sacramento fan or the fans getting a great deal to see Major League Baseball for the first time in the Capital City?

#3 The A’s will have three year stint at Sutter Health as an interim place to play until 2028. The A’s and MLB are rethinking installing artificial turf and go with natural turf. The artificial turf idea was a sticking point with the players but it looks as if the A’s and MLB are going to relent and keep it as natural turf.

#4 This past week A’s owner John Fisher was in Las Vegas for the implosion of the Tropicana Hotel and Casino and he actually spoke to the press saying he was upwards and onwards towards the construction of the new A’s ballpark problem is as of today Fisher has not paid his share of the construction costs for the park. Can he beat the December deadline?

#5 Moving onto another baseball player in the past and he’s still around today a former Atlanta Brave 85 year old Dominican Rico Carty. Carty played from 1963 breaking in with the Milwaukee Braves and retiring with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1979. Carty had a career batting average of .299 and did so well he earned a starting role in the 1970 All Star as a write in candidate. Is Rico a member of the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and there has to be a little doubt he would be a well deserved member.

#1 The Sacramento Kings have singed the son of former Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Laker star Shaquille O’Neil, Shareef O’Neal. The Kings made the signing after their loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Fri Oct 18.

#2 Shareef’s mother Shaunie Henderson wrote on instagram that she’s proud of Shareef’s signing with the Kings and proud of him for never giving up.

#3 Shareef will be joining the Kings G League team the Stockton Kings with new Kings signees Antione Davis and Drew Timme. The Kings are hoping to develop these new players who at some point could join the big club in Sacramento.

#4 Barbara, for Shareef he put in lots of work to get the G League there’s very little doubt he got some tips and help from his father Shaquille to help on basketball skills him to get to the Sacramento Kings organization.

#5 The Sacramento Kings open the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday. The Kings are coming off a 0-5 pre season but that might not necessarily tell the whole story of the Kings going into the regular season. The Kings head coach Mike Brown may not be showing all his cards as opening night approaches.

#1 The San Jose Barracuda scored five goals in the second period to route the Iowa Wild 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at Tech CU Arena.

#2 San Jose swept the two-game series and has jumped out to a great start in the young season. Iowa remained defeated through their first four games.

#3 San Jose (3-1-0) drew first blood early in the first period with an even strength goal. Anthony Vincent sent the puck back up to the point to Luca Cagnoni. 

#4 The Barracuda kept it going with all second period scoring 13:23 Lucas Vanroboys, 15: 23 Scott Sabourin, 16:03 Filip Bystedt, 17:40 Colin White, 18:07 Ethan Frisch.

Two of the game’s most historic franchises will compete for the title beginning Friday, October 25th, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, time TBD. This will be the 12th time, more than any other teams from the American and National Leagues, that these two teams will meet in the Fall Classic.

It all began in New York City when the Dodgers played in Brooklyn and the Yankees in the Bronx. Dodgers headed to the World Series for the fourth time in eight years. For the Yankees this will be the first time since 2009.

The rivalry between these two franchises is one of the biggest in Major League Baseball. The teams have met 11 times in the World Series, more than any other teams from the American and National leagues. The rivalry began in New York City when the Dodgers played in Brooklyn and the Yankees in the Bronx. In 1977 and 1978, Yanks and Dodgers played each other in the World Series.

I covered the 1977 and 1981 Series with reports and interviews. In 1977, I first met my good friend and broadcaster Jaime Jarrin, a Hall of Fame Ford C. Frick Award recipient who called the Dodgers games in Spanish for 64 years and retired after the 2022 season.

Some of the game’s biggest stars will participate in this World Series, which begins next Friday. This season, the most likely MVP winners are Yankee Aaron Judge for the American League and Dodger Shohei Ohtani for the National League.

Some of the most prominent and historical baseball players played for these two franchises: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle,Yogi Berra, Phil Rizutto, and many others for the Yankees. For the Dodgers, the most historical trailblazer figure in baseball is Jackie Robinson. Other Dodgers greats include Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Mauri Wills, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, and Fernando Valenzuela.

Yankees vs Dodgers rivalry. The Dodgers have won seven World Series titles since winning their first championship as a Brooklyn franchise in 1955 to break a run of futility against the New York Yankees, who had beaten them the first five times they had met for the MLB title. The New York Yankees have won the most major U.S. professional sports titles with 27 World Series Championships.

It’s a dream come true for FOX Network (rights holder), which will broadcast this coast-to-coast affair. FOX expects some of the highest ratings in World Series history. FOX feed coverage extends to Canada, Australia, Asia, China, Japan, India, South Korea, all of Latin America, including Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. It is also available in some countries in Europe.

Who is the favorite? You pick’em. However, the Dodgers were the favorites to win this 2024 World Series before the regular season got underway. They won the most games among the 30 teams. As a matter of fact, both the Dodgers and Yankees won more games than any team in Major League Baseball this season. Dodgers won 98 games and Yankees won 94. They are indeed the best two teams in baseball.

It will be Pizza vs Tacos, New York vs Los Angeles.

#1 The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t waste anytime getting of the shoot Sunday night in game 6 against the New York Mets scoring four runs in the bottom of the third inning.

#2 Stephen from the Start in the first inning the Dodgers scored twice when Tommy Edman doubled in Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez.

#3 In the bottom of the third inning Edman homered a two run shot 406 feet to left center that scored T Hernandez making it 4-1. Will Smith hit a two run homer to make it 6-1.

#4 In the bottom of the eighth the Dodgers up 7-4 and looking for more runs saw T Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Ohtani scored making it 8-4. Enrique Hernandez hit a single to right scoring Edman making it 9-4. E Hernandez hit a single to right scoring Edman Dodgers putting it out of reach 10-4. Final would be 10-5.

#5 The World Series will feature probably two of the best traditional teams historically in the game the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees. Who could forget the 1950s when the Brooklyn Dodgers and Yankees met on multiple occasions. Do you see this being a coin flip and a series that possibly could go to seven games.

Kansas City Defense Too Hot to Handle-San Francisco Falls to Chiefs 28-18

The San Francisco 49ers (3-4) had a rough start and trailed 14-6 at the half. Brock Purdy finished the game with three interceptions and not a single touchdown. The Kansas City Chiefs (6-0) defense taunted him throughout the game knocking down passes and making his life pretty miserable.

Looking back, the Chiefs offense was pretty solid as well. They are the only undefeated team in the league. San Francisco had some great plays in the second half but just couldn’t string them together. They had six penalties in the game, not a lot, but they came at some pivotal moments in the game. The final was 28-18 as the Niners fell to 3-4 for the season.

Game recap: The 49ers had to settle for a 55 yard Anders Carlson field goal in the first quarter for a 3-0 lead. The opening quarter was downright ugly for San Francisco. Ten plays, for 28 yards (what??), three points and one interception. All of this in four drives. The 49er offense was struggling as was the Kansas City offense.

Brock Purdy went 1 of 4 for 8 yards in a rocky start looking very off. The Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also threw an interception in the first quarter but did complete 6 of 9 for 82 yards.

Early in the second quarter, the Chiefs drove deep into San Francisco territory. Three 49er penalties on the drive gave the Chiefs a first and goal on the San Francisco one yard line. San Francisco was flirting with disaster during the entire drive with the penalties and Kansas City took full advantage scoring the first touchdown of the game.

Kareem Hunt punched the ball in from the one yard and the Chiefs took a 7-3 lead with a lot of time left on the clock until the half. The 49ers would be looking for better production from quarterback Brock Purdy. The Kansas City defense was all over him knocking down pass after pass.

With ten minutes left in the half the Chiefs returned a San Francisco punt to the 49er 30-yard line and Kansas City was back in business again. With the noise level off the charts, the Chiefs were forced to take a time-out with the ball on the nine yards line to regroup.

Kansas City did indeed regroup scoring their second touchdown of the game, the Harrison Butker kick was good and the Chiefs had a 14-3 lead. There was still 6:45 left in the half, plenty of time for San Francisco to close the gap.

The 49ers had to get a handle on the penalties. With four minutes left in the half, San Francisco was forced to punt and the Chiefs went on offense looking to extend their lead. So far through two quarters the Kansas City defense was dominant giving San Francisco all kinds of trouble.

San Francisco got a much needed stop and the 49ers had 1:39 left in the second quarter. Another penalty for the 49ers pushed them back to their own ten yard line to start the drive. Tight Chief coverage had reigned supreme throughout the first half but George Kittle got some separation giving San Francisco the ball on the Chief 35 yard-line catching a 41-yard Purdy pass.

The 49ers had a great chance to close the gap before halftime. Unable to score the touchdown, San Francisco had to settle for their second field goal of the day a 24 yard Carlson field goal going into the locker room trailing 14-6.

San Francisco got the second half going with an interception taking the ball down to the Kansas City 23 yard-line. They scored the touchdown and San Francisco had gotten the second half of the game going in the right direction.

Carlson missed the extra point attempt but San Francisco had cut the Chief’s lead to 14-12 and they were back in this game. The momentum the 49ers had going stalled in the third quarter when Brock Purdy was intercepted for the second time in this game.

After the interception the Chief’s drove downfield to the one yard line to start the fourth quarter. It took four downs but Kansas City scored their third touchdown of the game with Mahomes rushing from the 1/2 yard line taking a 21-12 lead.

The Chiefs drive was a huge success thanks to a 33 yard Mahomes scramble from the 49er 37 yard line to the San Francisco four yard-line setting the stage for the score. San Francisco pushed right back when Purdy connected with Jacob Cowing for 41 yards and the 49ers had a first and goal.

When a touchdown was all but inevitable, Purdy threw a third interception in the end zone squelching any hope for a touchdown. With 9:34 left in the game, time was weighing heavily on San Francisco. Kansas City was able to eat up nearly 6 1/2 minutes in the fourth quarter after intercepting the ball.

The Chiefs went on a long drive looking to eat up the clock. A mix of rushes and passes took the clock down to the three minute mark. Kansas City put this game on ice when Mecole Hardman rushed for 18 yards and the Chiefs fourth touchdown of the day pushing their lead to 28-12. With 1:08 left on the clock San Francisco scored, the two-point conversion failed and this game was a wrap 28-18 in favor of the Chiefs.

Game notes: And then there was one. Following Sunday morning’s scheduled NFL games, the Detroit Lions beat the undefeated Minnesota Vikings 31-29. There now remains one undefeated team in the NFL, the Chiefs with a record of 6-0. The 49ers couldn’t hand the Chiefs their first loss of the season at Levis Stadium.

The crowd noise as hard as they tried couldn’t shake the visiting Chiefs in this one Sunday. San Francisco won their first game to start the season but ran into some tough losses, one to the Vikings and their second of the season to the rival Los Angeles Rams. In week 5 they lost a heart-breaker, a one-point decision to the Arizona Cardinals 24-23.

Going into Sunday’s game, San Francisco is coming off a Thursday night win over the Seattle Seahawks 36-24 nearly ten days ago. Playing at home the 49ers wanted to give the Chiefs their first loss of the season but couldn’t generate enough offense to make that happen.

Next Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Dallas Cowboys at Levis Stadium. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 5:20 PM and can be viewed on NBC/Peacock.

#1 There was no stopping the SMU Mustangs last night at Stanford Stadium Michael they were fired up to face the Stanford Cardinal and no one was anymore fired up than Mustangs quarterback Kevin Jennings who threw for three touchdowns.

#2 The 40-10 loss to the Mustangs was the second consecutive game where Cardinal were landslided the week before on Sat Oct 12 the Cardinal were crushed by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 49-7. No doubt Stanford’s defense has been struggling in the last two games.

#3 Jennings who threw for three touchdowns also was 17-27 and had 332 yards and it looked like he had all day to throw the football against the Stanford defense.

#4 Stanford coach Troy Taylor is concerned after Stanford has now lost four games in row, “It’s tough. It’s painful for everybody to lose when its not close at the end,” Taylor said. “You’re always concerned about it. But these are the most resourceful men I’ve been around.”

#5 Stanford is up against Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Stanford Stadium on Sat Oct 26th. Wake Forest are 3-4 and won their last game against the UConn Huskies in a close one 23-20. Can Stanford regroup and have a shot against Wake Forest with the Cardinal having home field?

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Raiders just couldn’t come up with any offense in second half in loss to Rams in LA 20-15; O’Connell out with thumb fracture

Antonio Pierce the Las Vegas Raiders head coach whose been getting a lot of criticism after the recent loses and the loss in Los Angeles Sunday against the Rams didn’t soothe matters much for coach Pierce. There was too much sputtering there were too many mistakes and the Raiders just couldn’t score a touchdown.

Aidan O’Connell who got injured early and left with a broken thumb saw back up Gardner Minshew come in and take over. For Minshew he threw 15-34 for 154 yards and was intercepted three times. The Raiders who trailed the Rams 14-6 going into the second half had a chance to take advantage but Minshew and the offense couldn’t create any scoring opportunities despite the Raiders defense holding the Rams to only six points in the second half.

Barracuda cruise past Wild 7-3 with second period onslaught, sweep series

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Barracuda scored five goals in the second period to route the Iowa Wild 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at Tech CU Arena.

San Jose swept the two-game series and has jumped out to a great start in the young season. Iowa remained defeated through their first four games.

San Jose (3-1-0) drew first blood early in the first period with an even strength goal. Anthony Vincent sent the puck back up to the point to Luca Cagnoni. The rookie defenseman skated in from the left wing and lasered in a wrist shot just inside the near post past Wild goalie Jesper Wallstedt for his second goal of the season at the 2:08 mark.

The Barracuda doubled its lead 24 seconds later. Collin Graf found Justin Bailey inside the Wild zone. Bailey skated in all alone and beat Wallstedt to the far side with a wrist shot for his first goal of the season at the 2:36 mark.

Iowa (0-4-0) answered back 35 seconds later. Micheal Milne sent a cross-ice pass over to Hunter Haight who buried a wrist shot past Cuda goalie Georgi Romanov for his first goal of the season at the 3:01 mark.

The Cuda regained their two-goal lead late in the second period thanks to a great individual play from Lucas Vanroboys in the neutral zone. Vanroboys collected a loose puck near the red line then skated around three Wild defenders before tucking the puck underneath the pads of Wallstedt inside the crease for his first goal of the season at the 13:23 mark.

San Jose went up 4-1 with a power play goal exactly two minutes later. Ethan Cardwell sent the puck from the left wing into the middle of the crease where Scott Sabourin redirected the puck past Wallstedt for his first goal of the season at the 15:23 mark.

Iowa cut the lead in half on the next shift. An odd man rush led to Cameron Crotty finding Haight in the left slot and Haight beat Romanov with a wrist shot to the short side for his second goal of the game at the 15:50 mark.

San Jose made Iowa pay on their next shift. Brandon Coe sent a backhanded pass through the crease to an unmarked Filip Bystedt in front of the crease and the Swedish center buried the puck into the back of the net for his second goal of the season at the 16:03 mark.

The Barracuda weren’t done yet as over a minute and a half later they increased their cushion by four goals. Colin White cleaned up a rebound off a shot from the point by Cagnoni for his second goal of the season at the 17:40 mark.

San Jose scored its fifth goal of the period when Ethan Frisch fired a slapshot from the left point past Wallstedt for his first goal of the season at the 18:07 mark. Donovan Houle picked up his second point of the game with the primary assist. That ended the night for Wallstedt as he gave up seven goals on 25 shots. Backup goalie Samuel Hlavaj replaced Wallstedt to start the third period.

The Wild scored its third goal at the halfway mark of the third period.

Romanov earned his first victory of the season as he stopped 36 of the 39 shots he faced. Hlavaj only faced five shots in the final 20 minutes and saved all five.

GAME NOTES: San Jose finished 1-for-3 on the power play. Iowa went 0-for-2.

San Jose is 10-4-2-0 all time versus the Wild including 6-1-2-0 at home.

The Three Stars of the Game were: 1) Sabourin 2) Haight 3) Cagnoni.
