San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: No level of improvement if Kaepernick sits down during bad performances

SANTA CLARA–No one can deny that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had a bad game last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Further he has not looked good this year and there are issues and there are issues of the entire offense not just Kaepernick.

Kaepernick is taking the brunt of the criticism, the fact of the matter is the offensive line is still not blocking well enough to protect him. Any quarterback that doesn’t get good protection is not going to throw particularly well. If your like anyone else watching the games the assessment is yeah sure he doesn’t look good but nothing on the offense looks good.

The receivers are not running good routes and are dropping passes that are thrown to them and hit them in the hands, the offensive line isn’t protecting Kaepernick in time to find any open receivers. It’s a complete fail on the entire offense, it’s just not Kaepernick that’s having issues.

48 points for four games is awful there are teams like the Patriots that have offenses that score that many points in a single game. Kaepaernick is the quarterback he’s front and center in all of this discussion but the whole offense looks terrible. It’s one of these things that you can’t blame one part there’s a lot of moving parts in a professional football offense.

If all of them aren’t working or any of them aren’t working then your going to have problems we know what Kaepernick is capable of and he may never be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or even Andrew Luck. This is a guy who didn’t get his team through multiple playoffs and got them to the Super Bowl once.

NFL podcast with Tony Renteria: Explaining odd call in Seahawks-Chancellor win; 49ers lacking everything on both sides of the ball; plus more

by Tony Renteria

Today on the podcast I talk about the tough loss for the Detroit Lions last Sunday 13-10. As the Lions Calvin Johnson had the ball punched out of his hands by the Seattle Seahawks Kam Chancellor that stopped Johnson from scoring at the goal line to go ahead.

Also there are some fans that are saying the San Francisco 49ers are playing more like the Santa Clara 49ers more than anything. The 49ers just couldn’t solve the Green Bay defense and get any offense going in their 17-3 loss at Levis Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick struggled all day and there were some calls that think he should sit down if he’s going to continue to throw like that.

The Miami Dolphins who fired their head coach Joe Philbin and replaced him with tight ends coach Dan Campbell will be interim coach and see what Campbell can do with the team for the rest of the season. The jinx is on any head coach whose gone to London during the season with their team and has ended up getting fired. Dennis Allen of the Raiders last year and now Philbin this season after losing to the New York Jets on Sunday.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Charlie O: After using three different systems last year Kings ready to listen to one from Karl

by Charlie O Mallonee

SACRAMENTO–On the podcast tonight Charlie O talks about the Sacramento Kings in the pre season as they prepare to play their second pre season game on Thursday night at Sleep Train Arena. It is extremely important for the Kings this year because of all the coaching changes last year. They had three different head coaches, they had three different systems.

Head coach George Karl was with them for 30 games at the end of the season he wasn’t really able to fully implement the dribble drive offense he likes to utilize with inside-outside shooting with lots of outside shooting. Those are things that really take time to develop.

This pre season games and the training camp before the start of the regular season are phenomenally important to the Kings. This is where this team is going to become George Karl’s team. The other thing that’s a part of that too is there has been a tremendous turn in the roster.

You have a number of new players into the system and everybody is going to have to jell because their not going to be as familiar with each other. Even though the pre season is always important to get ready for a season. For the Kings this year it is probably doubly important because they have so many things they have to bring together before the regular season.

That’s Amaury’s News and Commentary: Territorial rights decision by Supreme Court locks A’s to Oakland

by Amaury Pi Gonzalez

photo credit google images us supreme court judges

OAKLAND–A’s Owner and Managing Partner Lew Wolff has issued the following statement regarding today’s Supreme Court decision.
“Today, the United States Supreme Court formally declined to consider the City of San Jose’s challenge to Major League Baseball’s longstanding antitrust exemption. The Court’s decision, while significant, has no impact on our intense and unwavering focus on solving our ballpark issue and providing A’s fans the first class experience they deserve.” More news from the A’s today as they promoted Billy Beane to Executive Vice President and David Forst to General Manager. Forst just concluded his 16th season with the A’s and 12th as Assistant General Manager.

Regarding the US Supreme Court decision. This is “strike three” on the chances of the Oakland Athletics to moving from the city of Oakland to San José. But after you strike out, another hitter comes to the plate. The Oakland Athletics ownership have said the team is not for sale, in the words of owner Lew Wolff, “we are not for sale”. But there is always the possibility that if the current ownership doesn’t get their wishes of moving out of Oakland, with the first intention of going to San José, that there could be a change of mind in the future, who knows, even in the near future. Obviously 2015 was not the experience the fans wanted or even deserved. Sam Licardo, Mayor of San José took the decision in stride and said the city of San José doesn’t owe any money to the attorneys and that the area that was designated for the new A’s ballpark, (the Diridon area) would bring thousands of jobs as they will redevelop for other business, more than likely high tech companies in the Bay Area’s most populated and most economically thriving city.

One way to make the OCO more attractive to fans would be to make some changes. The Giants under then managing partner Peter Magowan, when they got the approval to build a new park(AT&T)prior to the move Candlestick Park was made to look a little bit better for the fans. Of course the A’s would need permission from the Alameda County politicos for any type of changes you would want to do to the Oakland Coliseum.

The Oakland Athletics, are one of the most historic franchises in baseball. In 1901 the Philadelphia Athletics club was founded, a charter member of the American League, in the mid 1950’s they played in Kansas City and in 1968 the Athletics debuted at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. They have won four(4)World Series at Oakland, 1972-1973,1974, and 1989, more World Series than the San Francisco Giants who have played in San Francisco since 1958. The Athletics are also second in total championships (all sports)in the Bay Area to the San Francisco 49ers, who have won five(5)Superbowls.

Cal Bears podcast with Morris Phillips: Goff, Lawler, and Khalfani Muhammad running on all cylinders

by Morris Phillips

photo credit google images Khalfani Muhammad Cal Bears

BERKELEY–Last Saturday was a bit of a struggle for Cal as quarterback Jared Goff who did play very well he was very poised and played from behind. He kept the Bears in it and didn’t make any major mistakes and pulled it out with the short stuff and some amazing touchdown throws and catches.

If you think about how people raved about the Packers and former Cal quarterback Aaron Rogers getting that sideline pass to James Jones of the Packers in the 49ers game on Sunday you have to rave about Goff and his ability to hit his guys in the end zone. Also wide receiver Kenny Lawler’s ability to catch the football.

These are highlight plays every week and this last Saturday the Bears pulled the game out against Washington State. There is a lot of familiarity with these two schools even without the two week period to prepare to meet. Because Cal head coach Sonny Dykes and WSU head coach Mike Leach coached together at the University of Kentucky.

Stanford Cardinal podcast with Jerry Feitelberg: Cardinal setting all sorts of records and are ready to host a frustrated UCLA on Thu 15th

by Jerry Feitelberg

PALO ALTO–The Stanford Cardinal offense has got it going, Cardinal Quarterback Kevin Hogan said it best “in ground and pound” their running well on the ground and the offensive line the offensive line is pounding the defense lines into submission. The Cardinal they’ve scored on 570 yards of total offense.

They had 46 rushes in Saturday’s game against the Washington State Cougars for 14 yards for an astounding 6.8 yards per carry. That’s absolutely amazing and in the last three games they’ve rushed for 834 yards with an average of 5.8 yards per rush. You look at what the backs are doing Christian McCaffrey rushed 17 times for 156 yards.

Remound Wright running back came through with three scores and running back Barry Sanders came through in the second week in a row with a 65 yard touchdown run. The Cardinal have won four straight and are hosting the UCLA Bruins on Thursday the 15th. In the last three weeks the offense has scored 40 or more points. The Cardinal have not done that for a number of years.

SF Giants game wrap up Sunday report: Giants say “Au Revoir” to 2015 with plenty of???

By Tony “the Tiger” Hayes

SAN FRANCISCO–With a 7-3 loss at AT&T Park to the visiting Colorado Rockies on Sunday, the San Francisco Giants wrapped up an emotional weekend and an emotional wreck of a season.

A year after being throned World Champs, San Francisco limped into the off-season ending the ’15 campaign at 84-78 finishing in second place in the National League West behind the Dodgers.

As the Giants said good bye to their fans for the fall and winter, they also said goodbyes to themselves on Sunday one last time this year.

The au revoirs were spread about the home clubhouse as evenly as the small boats, rafts and kayaks in McCovey Cove.

Saying goodbye isn’t easy and the Giants showed that this weekend.

For most of the Orange & Blackers, the separation from Giants land will be a mere five month hiatus with pleasantries to be resumed in Arizona next spring.

But for some the superstition will be final and for even more the their goodbyes had question marks at the end.

After emotional pre-game speeches Saturday and Sunday , Tim Hudson and Jeremy Affeldt respectively donned big league uniforms for the final time Sunday.

While “Huddy” made his final outing last week vs the Dodgers , Affeldt appeared in Sunday’s match, retiring the only two batters he faced in relief of Matt Cain, before being removed by skipper Bruce Bochy who gave the all time great Giant a bear hug as he stepped from the mound.

As he strode from the mound Affeldt paused to acknowledge the packed house doffing his cap and waving to each direction of the ballpark .

He was then enveloped by his teammates as he ambled into the dugout his left hand waving to fans and even acknowledging the Rockies bench, the team he played for before becoming a Giant.

A teary eyed Hudson said his final good byes to the Giants family on Saturday during a pre game ceremony.

It was Affeldt’s turn on Sunday. A Giant since 2010, the southpaw was a key member of each of the Giants only west coast world championships. He saved his finest work for the post season — throwing 21 post season innings without allowing an earned run.

The list of Giants who head into the off-season with question marks at the end of their good byes is much more expansive how ever.

The list includes SF vets including Tim Lincecum and Ryan Vogelsong, as well as newcomers Mike Leake, Marlon Byrd and Nori Aoki as well as what to make of first year call ups such as Chris Heston, Kelby Tomlinson and Jarrett Parker.

The Giants have a lot of decisions to make on who they will say “hello” to again after saying goodbye today.

NCAA Podcast with Michelle Richardson: TX Rangers social media guy tweets Longhorns head coach should be fired and then he gets fired

On the podcast with Michelle TCU Froghorns (5-0) keep rolling and show no mercy with a huge victory over the Texas Longhorns (1-4) 50-7. A Texas Rangers (baseball) social media guru tweeted on the Rangers twitter page that Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong should be fired after their loss to TCU.

The tweet was photo captured and shortly after being photographed the posted tweet by the Rangers was deleted. But too late the caption went out and the social media worker was fired from the Rangers and his firing came way earlier than any Charlie Strong firing. The Rangers released a statement apologizing for the tweet to Strong and the University.

Ohio State (5-0) got big help in their 34-27 win as Buckeyes running back Ezekial Elliot had a huge day carrying 23 times for 274 yards and scored three touchdowns. The Buckeyes stayed perfect. Ohio State hosts Maryland next Saturday. Some fans have written that the Buckeyes have a soft schedule this season.

LSU running back Leonard Founette and LSU (5-0) keep rolling this time it was over East Michigan on Saturday with a convincing win 44-22. Fournette had another career day carrying 26 times for 253 yards, three touchdown scores. Michelle says he’ll be back next season although he would make the NFL the way he is right now.
