International Olympic Committee delivers great news to Biological female Athletes
That’s Amaury News and Commentary
By Amaury Pi-González
In case you forgot, the Summer Olympics will take place in Los Angeles in 2028, and today the IOC’s statements focused on protecting women in Olympic sports. Kirsty Coventry, IOC President:”It is not fair for biological males to compete in female competition.” This announcement comes months after the IOC adopted new eligibility rules that reserve women’s Olympic events for biological females, beginning with the 2028 Olympics.
This controversial topic has been debated for years, and it is coming to an end. This policy addresses the debate over fairness and safety in women’s sports, scrapping gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in a major reshuffle.
The Supreme Court of the United States has set a new nationwide precedent allowing states to protect women’s sports, ruling that this is consistent with Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause for women in women’s sports.
In the end, it’s simple: biological males should compete only against biological males, and biological females should compete only against biological females; everything else (according to the IOC, International Olympic Committee) violates IOC policy.
To refresh our memories, how did it start?
The University of Pennsylvania has agreed to block trans women athletes from competing in women’s sports after a federal civil rights investigation stemming from swimmer Lia Thomas. The US Department of Education announced the agreement, saying the Ivy League institution would apologize and restore titles and records to female athletes that were “misappropriated by male athletes.”The university said it would update its records set during the 2021–22 season to “indicate who would now hold the records under current eligibility guidelines”, but it did not say whether Thomas’ records would be erased.
