SAN JOSE, Calif. – Tuesday night the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy ended with the San Jose Sharks losing to the Boston Bruins 6-3 in a rare 8:00pm start time at SAP Center. The Bruins finished Tuesday’s contest improving to 5-2-0 while the Sharks drop to (3-3-0) and had to put off a win in regulation for another time.
The Bruins started hot 12 minutes and 55 seconds into the game when Fraser Minten scored his third goal of the season to put Boston ahead.
The Sharks had two milestones in Tuesday’s 6-3 loss, one was Jacob Trouba’s first goal as a member of the Sharks which tied the game at one. The other was Ivar Stenberg scoring his first NHL goal. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft was set up by Macklin Celebrini and Dmitry Orlov to tie the game at two early in the second period.
Trailing 4-2 heading into the third after goals by Matthew Poitras and Pavel Zacha, San Jose tallied another on the powerplay off the stick of Macklin Celebrini. It was Celebrini’s second goal of the season, assisted by Stenberg and Smith.
That would be the last time the Sharks put the puck in the back of the net as the Bruins went on to score two more including Fraser Minten’s second goal of the night en route to a 6-3 win.
San Jose out-shot the Bruins 38-26 and despite having numerous scoring opportunities wound up on the wrong end of a great performance in net by Jeremy Swayman.
Darnell Nurse did not return to the game after engaging in a fight with NIkita Zadorov and head coach Ryan Warsofsky declined to comment on Nurse’s status postgame. The Sharks head to Nashville to face the Predators, who took a 5-2 loss against the Vegas Golden Knights Tuesday night. Puck drop at Bridgestone Arena at 5:00pm Pacific Thursday night. It’s the first of a six game roadtrip, tied for the longest of the season.
