SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Milwaukee Brewers (67-41) took a 16-3 beating on the last game of the series against the San Francisco Giants (46-62), losing the weekday tussle with the Giants (2-1) in the Bay Area on Wednesday.

The Brew Crew were playing on the heels of their previous evening’s victory to even the series (1-1) and possibly leave the area with a series victory.  However the Giants had other plans in mind for the NL Central Division leaders.

Milwaukee came into San Francisco feeling good about themselves, but were shutout 3-0 by the Giants Game 1.  The Brewers responded in the second game with a convincing win.  In the finale, Milwaukee’s famous beverage was of no use inside Oracle Park, as they were hammered and humbled by the struggling home team.

The Brewers opened the. game with the leadoff batter hitting an infield single.  Was that going to be a continuation of the previous game’s momentum?  Not really, because neither team in the initial inning.

Starting pitcher Thomas Pannone was making his season debut, and looked great in the first inning.  Unfortunately for him, there are nine innings in a game.  In the bottom of the second inning, things immediately changed.

Giants’ catcher Daniel Susac hit a three run homer to left center, and just like that, Milwaukee was down 3-0.  The Brewers did come right back in the top of the  to get off of the goose egg with a Brice Turang groundout rbi.  Third Baseman David Hamilton crossed home plate to bring the score to 3-1, Giants.

MIlwaukee added another run the very next inning on centerfielder Garrett Mitchell’s groundout rbi.  Jake Bauers scored the precious second run.  At the midway point of the game, it was 3-2 Giants.

The sixth inning would be a disaster for the Dairy State visitors.  San Francisco would go on to knock in runs in the stanza.  Scoring in a multitude of ways.  Christian Koss had an RBI single, ditto for Luis Arrez.  Ramos’ single plated two Giants, while Devers forced in another with his fielder’s choice scenario.  Jung Hoo Lee doubled in two, and before all the dust settled, the Giants were up 10-3 after six full innings.

The Brewers did not give up, because they came right back in the top of the seventh with an RBI single by Turang, cutting the deficit to seven runs, 10-3.  That would turn out to be Milwaukee’s last score, but not San Francisco’s.

The Giants scored three more in the bottom frame of the aforementioned inning.  Arraez had another RBI single, Eldridge with a groundout RBI.  Lee also chipped in another RBI single.  After seven full innings, they were up by ten runs, 13-3.

Same story for the eighth inning.  While facing a position player on the mound, the Giants added three more to their final tally.  Daniel Susac hit his second homer of the day, Ramos an RBI single and Drew Cavanaugh also knocked in the final runner.  After the last out of the top of the ninth was recorded, the Giants had completed a 13-run beatdown on the Brewers, 16-3.

The Brewers will next be in action Friday, July 31, as they travel south within the state to take on the Angels at 8:38 CT and 6:38 PT on the Brewers TV network.  Expected starters will be for Milwaukee LHP Shane Drohan (5-4, 3.51) for Los Angeles RHP Ryan Johnson (2-5 ERA 7.34)

The Giants also head south instate, as they battle the San Diego Padres Thursday, July 30 at 6:40 PM PT on NBCS BA.  The expected starters are for San Francisco LHP Robbie Ray (9-6, 3.16) for San Diego TBA.
