Barracuda start game series with a 4-1 win over the Canucks

SAN JOSE- San Jose Barracuda waste no time jump on Abbottsford Canucks for a 4-1 win at Tech CU on Saturday night. Getting on the board first, Abbotsford’s Chase Stillman scored his third of the season to make it an early 1-0 lead in the first period.

On a turnover caused by Brendan Hoffman, San Jose tied the game at 1-1, just two minutes into the second period. Two minutes later, San Jose took their first lead of the game. Kasper Halttunen scored his thirteenth of the season from the faceoff dot to make it a 2-1 game.

To extend that lead, Anthony Vincent scored his ninth goal of the season (shorthanded), to make it a two goal lead, now a 3-1 game.

To extend that lead even further, Jimmy Huntington potted his15th of the season to make it a 4-1 Barracuda lead.

After the first period, San Jose outshot Abbotsford 15-10. After the second period, San Jose outshot Abbotsford fifteen to six. After the third period, San Jose outshot Abbotsford ten to eight.

Coming into Saturday night’s game, San Jose was second on the powerplay and fourth shorthanded. Saturday night, San Jose went 1/2. Abbotsford came in sixth on the powerplay and eighth shorthanded. Saturday night, Abbotsford went 0/3.

Gabriel Carriere got the start in his second consecutive game. Making 19 saves on 20 shots, Carriere recorded tonights win. For Abbotsford, Jiří Patera got the start. Making 36 saves on 40 shots, Patera recorded Saturday nights loss.

The Barracuda will be back in action Sunday for a 2:00pm start against this same Abbotsford Canucks team. San Jose will be looking to sweep the Canucks at Tech CU.
