On their first shot of the game, Calgary was the first on the board. Aydar Suniev scored his 11th goal of the season. This will be the first goal in San Jose’s 5-3 win with their first powerplay opportunity of the game, San Jose tied it up to make it a 1-1 game, Lucas Carlsson with his tenth goal of the season. Kasper Halttunen with the primary assist and Jimmy Hungtington with the secondary assist.
Because of a giveaway by the Barracuda, Calgary took advantage and retook their lead to make it a 2-1 game. Rory Kerins with his 17th of the season. Calgary extended their lead even further when former San Jose Barracuda Nick Cicek scored his fifth of the season to make it 3-1.
Picking up a loose puck after a Jimmy Huntington shot, Braden Hache scored his third of the season to make it a 3-2 game. Two minutes later, Anthony Vincent tied the game at 3-3, scoring his fifth of the season. To take their first lead of the game, Anthony Vincent scored his second of the game to make it 4-3 San Jose. To seal the win, Lucas Carlsson scored his second of the game to make it 5-3.
After the first period, San Jose outshot Calgary 13 to nine. After the second period, taking their lead back, Calgary outshot San Jose nine to eight. After the third period, Calgary outshot San Jose 13-nine.
Special teams played a crucial part in Tuesday night’s game. Coming into Tuesday night, San Jose came in first on the powerplay and fifth on the penalty kill. This was shown when San Jose scored on their first powerplay opportunity. San Jose went 1-1 on the powerplay Tuesday night. Calgary came in tenth on the powerplay and ninth on the penalty kill. Calgary went 0-2 on the powerplay Tuesday night.
Laurent Brossoit got the start for San Jose. Making 28 saves on 31 shots, Brossoit recorded nights win. For Calgary, Arsenii Sergeev got the start. Making 25 saves on 29 shots, Sergeev recorded tonights loss.
