Barracuda split series with Eagles in 4-3 win

Colorado opened up the scoring in back to back games with Jake Wise scoring his second goal of the season. They extended their lead to 2-0 when Luke Toporowksi scored his first goal this season. San Jose cut into that lead to make it 2-1 when Oliver Wahlstrom took advantage of a powerplay scoring his fifth powerplay goal of the season.

The Barracuda tied the game at two with Igor Chernysov scoring his 10th of the season. They took their first lead of the game when Quentin Musty scored his fourth powerplay goal of the season. Musty went on hat trick watch at 9:28 of the third, scoring his second goal of the night, extending their lead to 4-2. Colorado cut into that lead but it wasn’t enough, courtesy of Tristen Nielsen.

Although losing, Colorado had the upper hand for most of the game. They outshot San Jose 11 to 8 in the first period and 12 to 6 in the third period. San Jose outshot Colorado 17 to 8 in the second period. Ultimately, both teams ended up shooting 31 shots evenly.

Both teams had a chance to show their special teams in last night’s game but San Jose was the only team to capitalize and take advantage. San Jose went 3 for 6 while Colorado went 0 for 2. Quinten Musty scored two for San Jose while Igor Chernysov scored the other. After tonight’s game, San Jose is now first on the powerplay and second to last on the penalty kill.

Jakub Skarkev, who recorded the win, made 28 saves on 31 shots, allowing three goals. His record now moves to 7-2-0-1. Isak Posch, who recorded the loss, made 27 saves on 31 shots, allowing four goals. His record now moves to 8-3-1-2.

The Barracuda will be back in action on Friday December 5th, hosting the Tucson Roadrunners for a two-game series.
