#1 Golden State Warriors guard Draymond Green will be out for the rest of the pre season as he tries to recover from a lateral ankle sprain. Jerry knowing you’ve had patients who you’ve seen with this injury during your pharmacy days how long does an injury like this take to recover from?

#2 Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that Green may not even make it for opening night Tue Oct 24th vs. the Phoenix Suns.

#3 For this week Green has been given the okay by the Warriors medical team to begin light workouts, shooting drills, the Warriors say that Green will not be able to scrimmage and practice with the team yet.

#4 How much does Green’s injury play into his age at 33 and his recovery. Green like all players in the NBA eventually age and there comes a time when it could be the end of the road. In your opinion has Green reached that stage of his career.

#5 Kerr said using caution will not put Green in a five on five situation until he evaluates Green from his light workouts and shooting drills and see how the ankle does in those practices.

Golden State Warriors report: Warriors rally steal win from Kings 116-115 at Chase Center

The Golden State Warriors hosted the Sacramento Kings at the Chase Center Wednesday night. For the Warriors, it was their third pre-season game and the third for the Kings. The Warriors won both previous games, while Sacramento had been winless.

It doesn’t matter who wins or loses the games in the pre-season. The coaches are trying to prepare the players for the regular season, which starts on October 24th when the Warriors welcome the Phoenix Suns to the Chase Center.

The Suns have perennial All-Star Kevin Durant added to their lineup. Star guard Bradley Beal came to Phoneix in a trade with the Washington Wizards. Devin Booker will have a lot of support as the Suns will be gunning to get their goal of an NBA Championship.

Wednesday night’s game appeared to be a rather non-descript event. Sure, both coaches, Sacramento’s Mike Brown and the Warriors Steve Kerr, wanted to win, but losing the game was no big deal as long as the players performed well.

As it turned out, it was a terrific game, as the Warriors came back from an 18-point deficit to win 116-115. The star of the game for Golden State was none other than guard Stephen Curry. Who would have thought that?

Everyone at the Chase Center erupted when Curry nailed a three-pointer with five seconds left to play. The Warriors had to play defense, and they stopped Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox’s attempt for a two-point bucket that would have given the win to the Kings. 

The Kings’ coach, Mike Brown, wanted his guys to get the win. He played his starters Keegan Murray, Damontis Sabonis, Kevin Huerter, Harrison Barnes, and Fox for at least 30 minutes each. The Kings led for most of the game. Sacramento won the first half 56-49.

The Warriors led by one 16-15 in the first quarter. It was their only lead in the first half. Keegan Murray paced the Kings’ attack with 19 points. Davion Mitchell was second with 14 points. The Warriors turned the ball over 12 times and were making sloppy passes.

They seemed to be out of sync. But this is why they play the pre-season games. Kerr wants his players to work out the kinks before the season starts next week. The W’s did not have Kevon Looney in the lineup Wednesday Night.

Kerr started the six-foot-eight center Trayce Jackson-Davis at the center position. The rookie from Indiana played well. Backup center Dario Saric contributed 12 points and pulled five rebounds in the first half. Forward Jonathan Kumunga also played well. Andrew Wiggins had ten points, Curry six, and Klay Thompson two. Kerr was not worried as his big three did not put a lot of points on the board at this point in the game.

Sacramento increased the lead to 13 at the end of the third quarter. The Warriors were nearly tying the game until the Kings went on an 18-3 run. It looked like the game belonged to Coach Brown and his players.

Things changed in the fourth quarter. The Warriors had a 14-3 run to close within six, 97-91. The Kings did not fold. Yet, the Warriors kept creeping closer. Curry knocked down a three to make a four-point game, 110-106.

The Kings made a deuce to get the lead back to six. Two Warrior buckets, one by Curry, made it 112-110. The Kings answered to go 114-110 with 41 seconds left to play. The greatest shooter in the NBA’s history responded with two three-point shots to give the Warriors a one-point lead, 116-115 with five seconds left. The Warriors defense held on to secure the win.

Game Notes:  Curry led the Warriors with 30 points. Coach Kerr had to be pleased with Kuninga’s performance. Kuninga tallied 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Jackson-Davis had a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Dario Saric had 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Chris Paul finished with 13 points, six rebounds, and nine assists. 

The Warriors play the final pre-season game Friday night against the San Antonio Spurs. Everyone will have their eyes on the Spurs’ prize rookie, Victor Wembanyama, who is expected to be sensational. 

The game will be played at the Chase Center. The game will start at 7 p.m.

Sacramento Kings report: Kings lose to Warriors 116-115 in preseason thriller

The Sacramento Kings took on the Golden Warriors in the second game of the home-and-home preseason series. The Kings lost to the Warriors 116-115 at Chase Center on Wednesday night. Sacramento fell to 0-4, while Golden State improved to 4-0 and remained undefeated.

De’Aaron Fox led all scorers with 25 points and seven rebounds. Keegan Murray scored 24 points and eight rebounds. Davion Mitchell added 14 points.

The Kings’ starting lineup featured De’Andre Fox, Kevin Huerter, Harrison Barnes, Keegan Murray, and Domantas Sabonis. Murray hit a fast three-pointer to help the Kings get on the board first, and Murray led all scorers early on, shooting 3-5 from the field, in the first quarter. The Kings merely led 23-22 at the end of the first.

The Kings continued to pour in the points in the second quarter, but the Warriors hit quite a few three-pointers, such as Andrew Wiggins’ three-pointer, to avoid falling behind by double-digits. The Kings carried a 56-49 lead to the locker room at the end of the first half.

The Warriors initially trailed by more than a dozen, but they picked up the pace and made it a four-point game, 68-64, with 6:08 left in the third quarter before a TV timeout. The Kings, however, made it rain with three-pointers, including Keegan Murray’s three-pointer. The Kings led 91-76 after three quarters.

Kings rookies Malik Monk and Colby Jones showed some range in the fourth quarter. Warriors veteran point guard Chris Paul hit a three-pointer late in the fourth. The game went down to the wire. Warriors star Stephen Curry hit a late three-pointer to make it a two-point game, 115-113, but Warriors power forward Dario Šarić missed a pair of free throws. The Kings’ challenge was tossed out, and the Warriors had the ball for the remaining 10.7 seconds. The Warriors sealed the scoring with a three-pointer for a 116-115 win.

Notes
Kings shooting guard Chris Duarte was out with a left knee injury.

Aces Will Their Way To A Back To Back Championship Against all Odds 70-69

Against all odds the Las Vegas Aces won a back to back championship 70-69 at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn. Despite playing behind the eight ball for most of the game they refused to give in. Every single player on the floor in this game was a part of this win. In the final possession Alysha Clark had the tough call guarding Breanna Stewart and she did not disappoint.

Wednesday evening the Las Vegas Aces (3-1) took on the New York Liberty (1-3) in game four of the WNBA championship series. The Aces dug deep as they faced their most daunting challenge in this game.

The shocking news for Las Vegas was the loss of not only starter point guard Chelsea Gray but also center Kiah Stokes both seen court side with boots and Stokes wearing not only a boot but walking with crutches.

It was a real blow for the Aces. They were so close to a back to back championship leading the series 2-1 but they were able to get over the hurdle. Gray’s absence on the court hurt since she has been a huge reason for their success this season and that was a real gut punch.

This is a tough bunch and the Aces had their core group step up. A’Ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young showed up big. Alysha Clark and Cayla George filled in on the starting roster.

Game 4 recap: There was a “hold your breath” moment in the early minutes of the first quarter. Jackie Young went down and remained down on the court for a bit but was apparently collecting herself.

A sigh of relief for Las Vegas as Young was able to get up albeit rubbing her left knee. Las Vegas could ill afford another injury. The Aces led early but the Liberty took the lead with under two minutes left in the first ten minutes 21-11.

The Aces defensive effort was almost palpable; they were trying with everything they could muster but they had some reckless turnovers that hurt them. Making things worse, A’Ja Wilson was on the bench with two personal fouls. The Liberty were creating chaos on the court and the Aces were having a lot of trouble handling New York. The Liberty led after one quarter 23-13.

The Aces continued to fight in the second quarter and cut the New York lead to four points 25-21. The Liberty came charging back and extended their lead to seven but Las Vegas would not be denied and five minutes into the quarter they trailed by a single basket 24-27.

The Aces pulled too within one point in the closing minutes but fell apart as the clock ran out missing four shots in a row with yet another turnover. The Liberty took a 39-30 lead into the locker room at the half.

Las Vegas won the second quarter by a single digit 17-16. They really had it going for a while in the second quarter but they would have to do it consistently in the second half. The Aces really cut down on the turnovers in the quarter with only two but they would need an even stronger offense if they hoped to get past a fully loaded Liberty team.

At halftime not a single Las Vegas player had double digits. They would need a whole lot more from Young and Plum who finished the first half with only five points apiece. The Liberty’s Betnijah Laney had 11 and Courtney Vandersloot had 12.

The Aces were able to contain the always dangerous Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. They only managed 11 points between the three of them which was huge for the Aces. The key to a victory would be continued containment of Stewart, Ionescu and Jones as well as driving the basket for more points in the paint.

The Las Vegas Aces clawed their way into a winning third quarter 23-12 and leading 53-51 after three. They were one quarter away from a championship against all odds. The Aces went on a 16-2 run in the fourth quarter leading 60-53 but let that lead get away.

With 6:34 left in the game, the Las Vegas lead had dwindled to 60-58 and they had let the Liberty back into the game. With under five minutes left in the game it was all tied up at 62. The Aces started taking ill-advised shots and missing badly.

Las Vegas continued to fight through the fatigue which had to play a factor in this game and they had to take care of the basketball in the final three minutes. The Aces continued to keep B Stewart under wraps holding her to 3 of 17 shots.

With 41.7 left in the game Las Vegas had a 70-69 lead in a real nail-biter. With the 70-69 lead and 8.8 left on the clock the ball was in the hands of the Liberty. Clark had the unenviable task of guarding superstar Stewart and it was Clark who brought the championship home. The Aces had to call on every ounce of strength left in them in a most gritty performance.

After an amazing season the MVP Award went to Wilson who finished this game with another double double. She had 24 points and an amazing 16 rebounds. Young, George and Clark all finished with double digits. So now the Las Vegas Aces are Champions once again in this amazing dynasty.

#1 Ottawa Senators center Josh Norris made his season debut Wednesday night at the Canadian Tire Center. Norris played in his first game since Jan 21 Norris had tweaked his shoulder just one week before training camp started. Norris had missed 90 games because of shoulder injuries.

#2 The Winnipeg Jets center Gabriel Vilardi is expected to be out four to six weeks due to a MCL in his right knee. Vilardi doesn’t need surgery and Jets head coach Rick Bowness said he’s glad that would have put Vilardi out for awhile and that this was the best case scenario.

#3 Len talk about the shot that Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Fredrik Andersen right between the eyes off the mask that took him out of the game from a San Jose Sharks Mario Ferraro shot in the first period on Tuesday night. Antti Raanta replaced Andersen. The Hurricanes called up Pyotr Kochetkov from their Syracuse AHL affiliate.

#4 The Nashville Predators defenseman Luke Schenn will miss four to six weeks due to a lower body injury. Schenn has been out of action since Oct 10th the Preds opening night when they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-3. Schenn leads the Predators in defense with four hits and one blocked shot.

#5 The NHL Heritage Classic this Oct 29th will mark the 20th outdoor game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames. The game will be held at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. Commonwealth holds 57,000 fans. Two refrigeration trucks are helping getting the ice installed. The trucks traveled from Ontario to Edmonton.

Wisconsin State Assembly just approved a plan to keep the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin until at least 2050 in exchange for spending nearly $550 million in state and local money to finance the team’s stadium. After legislators raised the prospect of the Brewers leaving Wisconsin is the state didn’t fund repairs at America Family Field.

Mark Attanasio, owner of the Milwaukee Brewers also chairs the Major League Baseball committee regarding the Oakland A’s move to Las Vegas. The Brewers needed the funds to repair the stadium in Milwaukee. Mr.Attanasio fortune is estimated to be $700 million.

The State of Milwaukee has a total population of 5.8 million people, Milwaukee is the largest city, although a small baseball market, it represents a lot of the economy and name recognition of this state in the world of sports.

Mr.Attanasio who chairs the MLB committee regarding the relocation of the A’s from Oakland to Las Vegas, recently said about the owners committee; “The committee, we are literally in the middle of our process, which therefore, I can’t comment,” Attanasio said. “Even if I were to comment, we’re still doing our work. In fact, we had a meeting a couple of days ago. We have another meeting scheduled this week, so we’re addressing it in a broad context and there’s a lot to address.”

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred expects the vote by the owners regarding the approval of the A’s move to Las Vegas will take place this November. Three-quarters of the owners votes are needed for the A’s to move to Las Vegas.

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders (3-3) and head coach Josh McDaniels says he’s received encouraging news that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is getting better from his back injury he got last Sunday against the New England Patriots and had to leave the game.

#2 Garoppolo had to leave the game at half time in an ambulance to get his back checked out. According to McDaniels the back has improved and said that the Raiders will try and do all the right things before they move forward with Garoppolo.

#3 Garoppolo might still have to sit out against the Chicago Bears and he’ll be replaced by back up quarterback Brian Hoyer.

#4 Tony, just wanted to get your impressions of the job Hoyer did in the second half of the game throwing 102 yards and going 6 for 10 in passing.

#5 The Bears (1-5) have been struggling they lost their last game to the Minnesota Vikings 19-13. The Bears used quarterbacks Tyson Bagent and Justin Fields but just couldn’t get by the Vikings. How do you see this match up in Chicago for the Raiders this Sunday at 10:00AM PT?

Sharks lose 6-3 to Hurricanes

The San Jose Sharks continued their four-game homestand with game No. 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. The Sharks lost 6-3 to the Hurricanes at SAP Center. San Jose fell to 0-2-1, while Carolina improved to 3-1-0.

Sharks goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood made 36 saves in a losing effort, while Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta made 12 saves before exiting the game. Frederik Andersen made one save in relief of Raanta.

The Sharks drew first blood. Fabian Zetterlund helped the Sharks to an early 1-0 lead with a wrist shot 3:14 into the opening period. Tomas Hertl collected the lone assist on Zetterlund’s goal.

The Hurricanes tied the game 1-1. Seth Jarvis fired a wrist shot on the power play for a power play goal 4:06 into the first period. Michael Bunting and Teuvo Teravainen collected the assists on Jarvis’ game-tying goal.

The game was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes. The Hurricanes outshot the Sharks 18-5.

The Hurricanes took a 2-1 lead. Jaccob Slavin scored an unassisted goal, a short-handed one off a wrist shot, at 8:52 of the second.

The Hurricanes’ lead was short-lived. The Sharks tied the game 2-2 just 19 seconds later. Filip Zadina fired a wrist shot on the power play for a power play goal at 9:11 of the second period. Fabian Zetterlund collected the lone assist on Zadina’s game-tying goal.

The Sharks regained the lead 3-2. William Eklund fired a wrist shot on the power play for a power play goal at 16:06 of the second period. Henry Thrun and Tomas Hertl collected the assists on Eklund’s go-ahead goal.

The Sharks led 3-2 through 40 minutes. Carolina outshot San Jose 31-11.

The Hurricanes tied the game 3-3. Stefan Noesen fired a wrist shot on the power play for a power play goal at 9:08 of the third period. Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Brady Skjei collected the assists on Noesen’s game-tying goal.

The Hurricanes regained the lead 4-3. Seth Jarvis scored an unassisted goal on a slap shot on the power play at 11:51 of the third period. Brent Burns, a former San Jose Shark, collected the lone assist on Jarvis’ go-ahead goal.

The Hurricanes extended their lead 5-3. Martin Necas fired a wrap-around shot for a 5-3 lead at 14:53 of the third period. Michael Bunting and Brady Skjei collected the assists on Necas’ goal.

The Hurricanes expanded their lead 6-3. Brett Pesce fired a wrist shot for a 6-3 lead at 15:08 of the third period. Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Stefan Noesen collected the assists on Pesce’s goal.

The Hurricanes won 6-3. Carolina outshot San Jose 42-16.

Notes
With his 28th save of the game, Mackenzie Blackwood has now made the most saves by any Sharks goalie in his first two games with the team (79). Kaapo Kahkonen made 78 on March 24-31, 2022 (36, 42).

#1 Despite the hard efforts by San Jose Sharks goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood with his 51 saves the Colorado Avalanche pulled off a one goal shootout overtime 2-1 victory at SAP Center last Saturday.

#2 Charanbir, the Aves Cale Makar scored the tying goal of the game forcing the overtime 1-1. The Avalanche had to be relieved that the game didn’t get away thanks to Makar’s goal.

#3 The Makar goal couldn’t have come at a better time for the Avalanche with just a minute left in the regulation got a wrister shot that got past Blackwood. If not for that the Sharks would have won a remarkably played game by a 1-0 score.

#4 It’s amazing how the turn of events with the Makar goal can turn things around after the Sharks had carried the lead for all but the last minute of the game?

#5 The Sharks host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. The Hurricanes went deep in the post season before being eliminated by the Florida Panthers and being disqualified from getting in the finals. The Hurricane are 2-1-1 coming into tonight’s game against the Sharks will this be another nail biter?
