San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Lami: Kaepernick most likely to start against Bills in place of Gabbert Sun Oct 16th

AP file photo: San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (7) takes a knee before last Thursday night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals during the national anthem. Kapernick is looking to get the call as starter in Buffalo for Sunday Oct 16th’s game with the Bills.

On the 49ers podcast with Joe Lami:

The 49ers (1-4) dropped their fourth straight contest losing at home to a Arizona Cardinals (2-3) team 33-21 last Thursday night. This was a game that the 49ers couldn’t take advantage of . Joe also covers the 49ers renegotiating the contract of quarterback Colin Kaepernick that would guarantee his $14.5 million salary. He will get paid even if he’s out with an injury.

With the move the 49ers look to replace starter Blaine Gabbert with Kaepernick in week five against the Buffalo Bills (2-2) on Sunday Oct 16th. The Niners wanted to make the contractual adjustments that would bring in Kaepernick especially at this time after Gabbert suffered a bad loss to the Cardinals last Thursday at Levis Stadium. Gabbert went 18-31 for 162 yards and he over threw the receivers numerous times and had some bad loses which forced 49ers head coach Chip Kelly to change starting quarterbacks.
