On the MLB podcast with Daniel

#1 The Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera got his 2500th career hit in what has been an illustrious career for Cabrera.

#2. Wife of San Diego Padres infielder Yangervis Solarte died after suffering from cancer. The Padres who lost to the Colorado Rockies 8-0 at Coors Field in Denver. On Saturday needless to say the Pads were not focused on baseball so much but were just out there on the field with heavy hearts as Solarte had to fly from Denver to Florida to join his late wife Yuilette 31 and three daughters during this tragic time. Padres Manager Andy Green had to make the announcement before Saturday’s game with emotion and it was hard for the Pads to go out and play ball after finding out something like that.

#3. New York Mets pitcher Jacob DeGrom is lost for the 2016 season putting the Mets rotation in a tail spin in their chase to win the wild card. DeGrom was one of the Mets pitchers who was key in their post season drive last year.

#4.The San Francisco Giants who split a four game series with the St Louis Cardinals dropped Sunday’s game 3-0 behind the fine pitching of the Cards Alex Reyes who shutout the Giants and gave up four hits in seven innings of work. The Giants who were coming off a three game sweep to the San Diego Padres and started the four game series with the Cardinals on Thursday and won the first two games and for the weekend the Cards took the last two games.

#5 The Oakland A’s who swept the Kansas City Royals in four games and took two out of three game series from the Texas Rangers on Sunday in the rubber game with a 5-2 win. The A’s have won six of seven on the trip and now head back to Oakland and host the Houston Astros. The A’s lend the recent acquisitions of pitchers Jharel Cotton and Raul Alcantarta as a large reason for holding back the hitters.
