On the MLB podcast with Morris Phillips the Milwaukee Brewers Rymer Liriano was hit in the face on Monday with a pitch thrown by the Los Angeles Dodgers Matt West in the eighth inning of their pre season game. Liriano had suffered multiple facial injuries and is going for additional tests according to Brewers manager Craig Counsell.
The Giants dropped a 6-4 decision to the Oakland A’s on Monday the Giants Hunter Pence hit a home run and pitcher Jeff Smardzija threw for six innings. A’s pitcher Chris Bassitt gave up four runs on eight hits in his start and the A’s Billy Burns and Josh Phegley each scored a run.
Baseball is back in Cuba with many of the dignitaries showing up for MLB’s return to Cuba since 1998 when the Baltimore Orioles played the Cuban National Team. Taking in the festivities U.S. President Barack Obama, Cuban Presidente Raul Castro, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, MLB Executive Joe Torre, and former New York Yankee Derek Jeter.
