SANTA CLARA–This was expected to be a high scoring game but what we discounted and didn’t pay enough attention to is just how good the Denver Broncos defense was. The Broncos defense hasn’t been particularly good all season. People don’t focus on that because of Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.

He’s clearly at the end of his career but there was no official announcement from Manning right after the Super Bowl on Sunday night. Whenever Manning is involved things tend to focus on him just a little bit. He had such a rough season. He wasn’t playing well all season having lost his fast ball, his curve ball, and pretty much having a slow ball.

The offensive struggle during the season Manning got hurt and back up quarterback Brock Osweiler had to take over for a few weeks and with Osweiler throwing for the Broncos with Manning out the thought at the time was the Broncos season was over and doomed. What everyone forgot to watch was how good the Broncos defense was.
