On the NFL podcast with Tony Renteria former San Francisco 49ers and team captain for this year’s Pro Bowl Jerry Rice addressed the media at Honolulu’s Turtle Bay. Rice told the media when asked about the future of the Pro Bowl being in Honolulu and the possibility of it moving to Sydney or Rio next year, “I can’t see the Pro Bowl going anywhere else. When I think of the Pro Bowl, I think of Hawaii. I love Hawaii, I love the fans.”
For the last two Pro Bowls at Aloha Stadium the game’s attendance fell in 2013 it was 47,134 and in 2014 it was up just a little bit 47, 270. The NFL is going to decide if they’re going to opt out or not of their two year agreement with the Hawaii Tourist Association the league has until March 31st to decide. If Sydney or Rio bids well for the game it very well likely will go there. The Players Association and the NFL players have made it clear where they want the Pro Bowl to stay and that’s in Honolulu.
