SANTA CLARA–The St.Louis Rams can give the San Francisco 49ers a tough challenge for this Sunday’s game and they always play the Niners tough. That’s kind of a historical thing these two teams are divsion rivals since the 1940s. These two teams are imtimate and their just not familar their intimate with each other and they play each other twice a year.
It was 1990 that they played each other in the playoffs for three times that year, this is a team that always plays the Niners tough because their division rivals and they just don’t like each other. The Niners played these guys a couple of week ago and you can’t imagine this won’t be much of a repeat of the Oct 13th game when the 49ers won 31-17.
The Rams looked a little bit tough early on and the Niners made some plays and they pulled it off and they pulled away in the second half. The game wasn’t even close, what the Rams have been doing they did to the Niners what they’ve been doing in their subsequent games is they’ve been selling out against the run.
The Rams have been saying they’re going to stuff the run because they think they can do that and that you have to beat the Rams with the pass. They did that with the 49ers because they thought that quarterback Colin Kaepernick is not necessarily the most accurate guy and not necessarily the best decision maker so the Rams want to challenge him.
Kaepernick was clearly up for the challenge in the game in St.Louis and it’s not for certain if the Niners are going to try the same tactics this Sunday at Levis Stadium. A team would be foolish if they did and that hasn’t stop them from doing it against other teams who have seen the tape of the Rams. You have to stop the run in letting teams go man coverage in the secondary.
This is the reason why the Rams have lost a couple of games and it really comes down to the Niners being a better team than St.Louis. Rams quarterback Austin Davis there’s no figuring if Davis has a future with that team. Quarterback Sam Bradford got hurt at the beginning of the year and he’s out for the season and he’s a free agent after this year.
So Bradford is probably not coming back to that squad, Davis is the guy who they had as the backup and they really don’t know what they’ve had he’s had a couple of games. He hasn’t shown the Rams anything to make them believe that he’s going to be their starter next season. So as long as Davis is the starting quarterback for the Rams you can’t look at that Rams offense and expect them to do much.
