Kings down Jazz 141-97 in blowout win

SACRAMENTO–The Sacramento Kings were back in action on Sunday night, returning home after a brief two-game road trip. Their journey took them through Memphis and San Antonio, where the Kings suffered a 115-110 loss to the Grizzlies but rebounded with a 140-113 victory over the Spurs on Friday night.

The win against San Antonio was much needed as the Kings fought to stay around the .500 mark. Focused and determined, the Kings entered Sunday’s game looking to win two in a row for the first time since November 4th and 6th. Coming into the matchup, the Kings (11-13) hosted the Utah Jazz (5-17) at 7 PM PST. The Kings ultimately dominated, defeating the Jazz 141-97.

In the first quarter, neither team played particularly clean basketball. The Kings committed three turnovers, giving up five points, while the Jazz had five turnovers, also resulting in five points. Kevin Huerter got off to a hot start for the Kings, shooting 3-of-4 and scoring eight points in the quarter. The Jazz struggled offensively, shooting just 35% and scoring 23 points. Meanwhile, the Kings managed 26 points to take a slim early lead.

The Kings brought strong energy into the second quarter, starting with an 8-2 run fueled by quick baskets from Keon Ellis and Kevin Huerter, prompting the Jazz to call a timeout with 10:10 left. The Kings didn’t let up for the rest of the quarter, outscoring the Jazz 36-22 to take a commanding 62-45 lead into halftime. Kevin Huerter led the Kings’ charge, while Keyonte George paced the Jazz with 14 points at the break.

It felt like a breakout half for the Kings, who needed to sustain their momentum in the second half.

In the third quarter, the Kings continued to pour it on offensively, outscoring the Jazz 43-29. The Kings appeared to have rediscovered their identity, scoring 140 points on Friday and putting up 105 through three quarters on Sunday—a welcome sight for fans. Heading into the final frame, the Kings led 105-74.

The fourth quarter could best be described as garbage time. The Kings extended their lead to as much as 44 points with 5:30 remaining. They outscored the Jazz 36-23 in the final period, sealing an emphatic 141-97 victory. Kevin Huerter led the Kings with 26 points, while Keyonte George topped the Jazz with 25 points in a losing effort. The Kings improved to 12-13 as the Jazz fell to 5-18 on the season.

After the game, coach Mike Brown praised the Kings’ ability to play at a high level, stressing the importance of committing to “every possession.” Brown repeated the phrase so many times during his postgame press conference that the media couldn’t help but chuckle as he asked, “Is that clear?” Message received, Coach. The question now is whether the Kings can build on this performance and go on a winning streak.

Fun Note: Doug McDermott gave fans a reason to cheer in garbage time, shooting 6-of-7 from three-point range.

Up Next: The Sacramento Kings will hit the road to face the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday at 5 PM PST. With Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram likely to be out, the Kings will need to capitalize on the opportunity.

Kings Clock First Road Win At the Expense of the Jazz 113-96

The Sacramento Kings got going early and they continued to compete at a high level for the entire game. They outscored the Jazz in the first three quarters with the final score 113-96.

The bench got to play the final four minutes of the game with the exception of Malik Monk, Keon Ellis and Trey Lyles who played extended minutes. Domantas Sabonis turned in another double double with 28 points and 11 rebounds. This was the Kings first road win and the win leveled their season to 2-2.

Game recap: The Kings got a jump start on the Jazz in the first quarter of play leading 34-22 after the opening 12 minutes. Utah challenged the Kings in the second quarter of play outscoring Sacramento 30-27. The Kings took a 61-52 lead into the locker room at the half.

Sacramento came into the second half extending their lead 75-60 mid-way through the quarter. The Kings had their entire starting roster already at double digits with 1 1/2 quarters left in the game.

Domantas Sabonis was leading the way through 2 1/2 quarters with another double double, 22 points and ten rebounds. With under one minute left in the third quarter Sacramento had taken a 24 point lead.

The Kings kept the pressure on Utah the entire quarter outscoring the Jazz in the quarter 29-14 shooting at 52% from the field to the Jazz’s 34% and leading going into the fourth quarter 90-66. Through three quarters the Kings had protected the ball well with only ten turnovers.

Sacramento really poured it on in the fourth quarter taking as much as a 27 point lead. The last few minutes saw the Kings bench take the court to finish off Utah. Sacramento had 24 second chance points to the Jazz’s 12.

The Jazz did win the final quarter 30-23 but the Kings had such a huge lead it made little difference. The game final was 113-96 as Sacramento picked up their first road win and leveled their season record to 2-2.

Sacramento was shooting lights out in this game. Domantas Sabonis shot the high for the Kings with a double double, 28 points and 11 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan finished with 20 points closely followed by De’Aaron Fox with 19 points.

Every starter finished with double digits in a well-played game . The Kings dominated the entire night against a young Utah team. After such a rough pre-season and losing the first two games of the regular season, the wins Tuesday night and last night were signs of the turnaround this team is experiencing. This was not unexpected; it was just a matter of time.

The high for the Jazz was Jordan Clarkson who scored 21 points. The Jazz lost ace Lauri Markkanen who had to leave the floor at halftime with lower back spasms, a crushing blow for Utah when he was unable to return in the second half. Utah is still looking for their first win of the season after losing their first four starts.

Game notes: Tuesday night the Kings defeated the Jazz in Utah after winning their first game of the season Monday night beating the Portland Trail Blazers 111-98. De’Aaron Fox and DeMar DeRozan both had productive games as DeRozan seems to be settling into the starting lineup very nicely. The Jazz dropped their third game in a row losing to the Dallas Mavericks 110-102 Monday night. Sacramento handed Utah their fifth loss in a row Monday night.

Sacramento will have a few days off before returning to the court on Friday night taking on the Hawks in Atlanta. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 PM.

Kings Preseason Struggles Highlighted In Loss 105-85

SACRAMENTO–The Sacramento Kings hosted the Portland Trail Blazers in the third Preseason game Sunday at the Golden One Center losing 105-85. The Kings are still working on the new starting rotation with the new addition Demar DeRozan and Keon Ellis filling in for an injured Kevin Huerter and it showed as they had 26 turnovers.

Kings turnovers and the Trail Blazers three point shooting put the Kings in a very deep hole as Portland Took a seven point lead into the half. Portland out scored the Kings 35-24 in the second quarter behind great play from Scoot Henderson who finished with 17 points in only 25 minutes of play.

DeRozan who the Kings brought in to to help them get past the first round of the playoffs is still finding his footing with his new teammates and new head coach Mike Brown. General Manager Monte McNair brought DeRozan in fill a need of veteran leadership and the steady hand of Experience.

DeRozan only scored eight points on 4 for 10 shooting. His teammates did not fair much better De”Aaron Fox only had 11 points himself to show for his 28 minutes worth of playing time. Domantas Sabonis is working on adding a three point shot into his offensive repertoire but was only zero for three from past the three point line.

Brown is still working on this line up and hopefully it will perform better by the season opener than they did Sunday. The Kings travel to Los Angeles to play the Clippers for their final preseason game on October 17th. They open with season a week later by hosting the Timberwolves a week later on the 24th.

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason:

#1 Going into yesterday’s game, there was a lot to be ironed out in the Western Conference not only for the number one seed but also in the eighth through tenth place.

#2 The Warriors had their eye on a eighth or ninth place finish but the Lakers and the Kings had something else in mind. Both the Lakers and Kings demolished their opponents and the Warriors had to settle for 10th place.

#3 Stephen Curry and Draymond Green sat out yesterday’s game–the team needing them to be fresh for Tuesday nights game.

#4 Klay Thompson led the team in points in their win over the Utah Jazz. Every Warrior that took the floor in this game scored points with the exception of Jonathan Kuminga.

#5 The playoffs get underway Tuesday night with the Warriors taking on the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center. Sacramento has a grudge to settle but can they do it without Malik Monk? How will this game play out.

Warriors Playoff Bound After Beating Utah Jazz 123-116

As it all played out Sunday afternoon, the Golden State Warriors (45-36) ended up in tenth place in the Western Conference slated to meet the Sacramento Kings Tuesday at Golden 1 Center. Golden State beat the Utah Jazz (31-50) 123-116 and as it turned out neither a win or lose would have affected the standings for the Warriors. Neither Stephen Curry nor Draymond Green took the court in this game resting them for the playoffs.

Game recap: The Warriors won both the first and the second quarters. Golden State took a 33-27 lead after the first 12 minutes and extended their lead at the half. The Jazz refused to back down trailing at the half 63.56. The Warriors had outscored the Jazz in the second quarter but only by a single point.

In the second half of play, Utah saw their first lead of the game in the third quarter. The Warriors tied up the quarter at 85 with three minutes left in the third. Utah had taken as much as a six point lead in the quarter but the Warriors pushed back every time.

After three quarters, Golden State had established a 95-89 lead. The writing, however, was on the wall with the Lakers beating the Pelicans 92-68 mid-way through the third quarter and the Kings absolutely destroying the Trail Blazers after three quarters 99-58.

In the early minutes of the fourth quarter, the Warriors took their largest lead of the afternoon 101-89. With the Lakers and the Kings well in-charge of their own games, 10th place would go to the Warriors win or lose. Golden State had a date with the Sacramento Kings up at Golden 1 Center Tuesday night April 16th in the 9-10 game. The Warriors went on to beat the Jazz 123-116 and Golden State was play-off bound.

Game notes: After a long and grueling 2023-24 NBA season, Sunday saw the final game of the regular season. There are numerous spots up for grabs in the Western Conference. The Warriors are watching the 8th-10th positions. Sunday afternoon, the Warriors took on the Jazz.

The Warriors got the win but the Los Angeles Lakers won and the Sacramento Kings won who also figure in this equation. The Lakers beat the New Orleans Pelicans 124-108 and the Sacramento Kings defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 121-82. The wild finish that was predicted the past few weeks made for some crazy games. Curry and Green did not take the court in this game.

Klay Thompson finished the game with 25 points, the team high. Andrew Wiggins had 19 points in this game and every Warrior who took the court in this game scored points with the exception of Jonathan Kuminga who came away empty. He did have seven assists. It now all comes down to a Northern California battle between the Warriors and the Kings Tuesday night to start off the 2024 NBA playoffs.

Warriors Fall Short to Pelicans 114-109; Turnovers Spell the Difference

The ultimate closer in the NBA did his best to weave his magic yet his team fell to the New Orleans Pelicans (49-32) Friday night in a real barn burner. Stephen Curry finished with 33 points in the loss. Klay Thompson finished with 19. Golden State (45-36) had 16 turnovers which spelled the difference in the 114-109 loss.

Over the past few months the Western Conference showed signs of having a wild finish to the season. The Golden State Warriors now find themselves in a three-way tie for eighth place with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings.

The Lakers have lost their two last games, the last one against the Warriors, and the Kings are just plain self-destructing. They take significant leads in the first half of games only to fall apart in the second half.

The Warriors are playing terrific right now winning their last three games in a row. The Warriors need to win out, the Lakers beat the Grizzlies earlier Friday night with their last game against the Pelicans.

The Kings lost the Suns and have the Trail Blazers up next. All three will be faced with play-in games. The Warriors have had 25 road wins this season and the Pelicans have had 27 road wins and will looking for number 28 tonight.

Friday night the Warriors welcomed the Pelicans to Chase Center. The Pelicans are one game ahead of the Phoenix Suns so both of these teams have a lot at stake. New Orleans wants to avoid the play-in game.

Golden State set the pace in this game from the start leading 26-17 after the first 12 minutes. Seven minutes into the second quarter, however, it all went south and the Warriors 11 point lead had dissolved.

This game was tied at 38 and the tide in this game had done a complete reversal. With three minutes left in the half, the Pelicans really started rolling taking a 53-42 lead. The Warriors had nine turnovers in the second quarter alone.

The Pelicans were 10 of 13 from downtown in the second quarter leading 59-43 and had turned this game completely around in their favor. At the half New Orleans had taken a 62-48 lead. The Pelicans had outscored the Warriors in the second quarter 42-22 and Golden State had a lot of work to do in the second half with New Orleans totally dominating the game.

The Warriors would need some serious adjustments in the second half. A good place to start would be putting the skids on the turnovers. They had 9 turnovers in the second quarter and only 2 in the opening quarter.

The Pelicans had shot beautifully from beyond the arc finishing the half with 11 scored to the Warriors five. Golden State needed to protect the ball in the second half and get their three-ball going.

The Warriors got a better start in the third quarter but the Pelicans continued to hang onto a double digit lead. The third quarter began to feel more like the first when Golden State had the advantage. As this game went deeper into the third quarter, the Warriors had trimmed the Pelicans 14 point lead to five points 71-66.

Golden State was playing some outstanding defense doing their best to contain Zion Williamson and they were doing a great job. They were also guarding the three ball better putting the stops on New Orleans shooting. There would be no room for error heading into the fourth quarter with New Orleans leading 88-75.

The Warriors really needed their three ball, but the Pelicans are one of the top teams in the NBA when it comes to guarding the three so it would not be easy. The Warriors continued to play hard which started to pay off when the Pelicans made some rare mistakes and started missing those three’s while Golden State started to make shots from beyond the arc.

With eight minutes left in the game the Warriors were within three points of a tie 92-89 in a huge turnaround. This game was going down to the wire. With 1:02 left in the game, New Orleans had taken a 112-106 lead. Curry hit a three with 40 seconds left on the clock drawing to within three points 112-109 in this barn burner. Golden State came up just short losing 114-109.

Sunday afternoon the Golden State Warriors wrap up the 2023-24 regular season. They will take on the Utah Jazz at Chase with tipoff scheduled for 12:30 PM.

Warriors Dismiss Utah Jazz 118-110

In the absence of Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins, the Golden State Warriors dismissed the Utah Jazz 118-110. Klay Thompson had the high for the Warriors with 32 points and Jonathan Kuminga scored 21 points off the bench in his return. Kuminga did not miss a beat after missing six games.

Curry was not in Sunday night’s lineup taking this game off for some much needed rest. Wiggins continues to struggle with an ankle issue, Dario Saric is out with a knee injury and Gary Payton II was listed as probable. Kuminga was originally reported as out but he did take the court off the bench.

Thompson led the starters playing alongside Draymond Green, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Chris Paul and Brandin Podziemski. Kuminga was a sight for sore eyes playing off the bench. He has been sorely missed.

Golden State stomped the Jazz in the first 12 minutes leading after the first quarter 41-28 setting the tone for this runaway game. The Warriors outscored the Jazz in the second quarter and led at the half 68-54.

The Warriors went on to win the third quarter 29-23 leading 97-77 going into the fourth quarter. At about the six minute mark, Golden State’s bench took the court for the remainder of the game. Thompson and Green sat for most of the fourth quarter.

The final score was in favor of the Warriors 118-110. This win clinched at least a spot in the four-team play-in tournament in fact they were in before this game even got underway. Houston lost in overtime to the Dallas Mavericks 147-136 and finished the Rockets bid for a playoff spot.

Thompson had the high score of 32 points for the game with five rebounds and went 6 of 13 from beyond the arc. From the start of the game, Thompson knew he would be expected to handle the bulk of the scoring in the absence of Curry and he did not disappoint. Thompson hit seven of his first ten attempts.

Missing this game gave Curry a break of several days. He has already played in 71 games this season and really needed a few days off. Curry has not played this many games in any one season for quite a few years. This rest will get him ready to finish off the season next week especially in their highly anticipated game with the Los Angeles Lakers next Tuesday.

Kuminga was excellent despite his time away from the team with 21 points off the bench. He had missed six games with tendonitis in both knees. Besides the 21 points he also had ten rebounds so he did not miss a beat in his return.

The Warriors have won all three meetings against the Jazz this season with one more meeting to finish off the regular season. Golden State will have Monday off before taking on a huge game Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

That game will be played in Los Angeles and promises to be a real barn-burner. The Lakers took on the Timberwolves Sunday night without LeBron James and Anthony Davis who went down in the first half.

It is not known if either of them will be available on Tuesday night. At the time of this post the Lakers had made a run after trailing at the half 79-64. Minnesota had led by as much as 20 points when the Lakers pulled to within five points 90-85. As the fourth quarter got underway the Timberwolves had established a 106-92 lead at 9:09 in the fourth quart

Game notes: With only five games left in the 2024 season the Warriors took on the Jazz at Chase Center Sunday evening. The Warriors continue to hang onto tenth place in the Western Conference with the Lakers and the Kings tied for eighth place. It will be a tight finish for a number of teams including the Warriors.

Tipoff for Tuesday night’s game between the Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Warriors Squeak Past Jazz 140-137; Golden State wins sixth out of last seven games

Thursday night the Golden State Warriors (27-26) took on the Utah Jazz (26-30) in Utah in a close contest. The Warriors had beaten the Jazz last Monday night 129-107 but this game was far closer. Klay Thompson was the hero in this win willing his team to the victory shooting for 35 points for the final of 140-137.

Wednesday night the Warriors lost a heartbreaker to the Clippers 130-125 after leading for most of the game. They had little time to mull over the loss. After the game the Warriors had to immediately hop on a plane heading back to Utah for the second time this week to take on the Jazz (26-30). Thursday’s game was the makeup game that had originally been scheduled for January 17.

There had been talk of Thompson taking a bench role and Thursday that talk became to be. For the first time since his rookie season Thompson came off the bench. He not only came off the bench, he came to his team’s rescue scoring 35 points and knocking down 7 3-pointers.

In a three point difference, every last point that he scored was critical. In fact the entire starting lineup had double digits. The Jazz came into this game on a mission and came very close to winning the whole thing.

Before this game Thompson was asked how he felt about coming off the bench. The truth is that he was ok with it. He has suffered a few pretty serious injuries and he has struggled throughout this season.

Thompson was fine with his new role and he just wanted to help the team in whatever capacity he was assigned. He was lights out and just maybe this was the change that would work for him. He decided that instead of pout he would just go out there and make a difference and that is just what he did.

Game recap: The first quarter was a close one with the Jazz prevailing 39-36 but the Warriors came roaring back in the second quarter 48-32 and leading at the half 84-71.

Despite the 13 point deficit, the Jazz continued to fight but Golden State won the third quarter as well taking a 120-102 lead. By the looks of it, Golden State was aiming to wrap up this final game before the break.

This game took on a whole new look in the fourth quarter as the Jazz went to town outscoring the Warriors in the fourth quarter 35-20. It was a valiant effort by Utah who came up just short; and Golden State had survived partially in thanks to Thompson who had one of his best offensive efforts all season.

Thompson had the team high with 35 points. Draymond Green had a terrific showing with 23 points, a season-high, and Andrew Wiggins finished with 19 points and seven rebounds. Stephen Curry had 16 points and 10 assists. The Warriors did have 13 turnovers that turned into 29 Jazz points.

This was a disappointment for Utah coming so close and coming up short. The Jazz’s Collin Sexton missed a 3-pointer allowing the Warriors to hold on winning their eighth game in their last 10 games. Sexton had the high for Utah with 35 points and Keyonte George finished with 33 points. The was Utah’s third straight loss at home and their fourth straight loss overall.

The Warriors will now have a nice stretch before they continue the season taking on the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday February 22. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Red-Hot Clippers Cool Off Warriors in Fourth Quarter 130-125

After leading for the majority of Wednesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers (36-17) the Golden State Warriors (26-26) fell short in the fourth quarter losing 130-125. The Warriors controlled the tempo, the pace but fell short in the final four minutes. The sixth win in a row for Golden State was not to be.

Game recap: The Warriors got a lightning start forcing turnovers and handling the Clippers quite well. Los Angeles is without Kawhi Leonard in this game missing it due to a left thigh injury. The first quarter was close throughout until the final minute when the Warriors got a little separation leading 30-23 after the first 12 minutes. 

The Clippers weakest quarter is typically the first quarter but Golden State had gotten this game going in the right direction in the opening quarter. Every Golden State starter had scored in the first twelve minutes. and the Warriors had set a great pace dictating play.

Mid-way through the second quarter the Warriors took a ten-point lead 43-33. The Warriors continued to double team James Harden who was the leading scorer on the court for the Clippers. 

Harden was not getting much help from his team mates and continued to try and carry his team. With 4:32 left in the half, the Warriors continued to hold the lead 47-39 and Golden State had their way throughout the first half. The first two quarters were all Golden State. 

The three’s started flying for the Warriors complimented by some solid defense. The score at halftime was 59-52 in favor of Golden State. The Warriors had held a 59-44 lead during the second quarter but the Clippers went on a 8-0 run to close out the half. They had cut the Warriors lead in half but Golden State still held a seven point lead going into the second half.

The Clippers got going in the third quarter and in a flash Los Angeles had pulled to within three points 59-62. Early in the quarter, Draymond Green got an elbow to the jaw and was taken back to the locker room to rule out concussion, broken jaw or any number of injuries that could have occurred after such a vicious hit. The team had to carry on in the absence of Green awaiting word on his condition. 

The Warriors rallied pushing their lead back to double digits 75-65 at 5:38. Stephen Curry was on fire with 25 points through 2 2/1 quarters and had 6 three’s. At 5:22 the ever tough Green came out of the locker room and rejoined his team mates on the court.

Brandin Podziemski was having a terrific game off the bench with 18 points going 4 of 4 from downtown. The third quarter saw another record for Curry with his fourth straight game hitting at least seven three’s.  As the quarter came to an end the Warriors held onto a 97-86 lead. 

The fourth quarter was an over the top physical game. The Clippers Mason Plumlee got a flagrant one when he showed excessive force guarding Brandin Podziemski and the Warriors Jonathan Kuminga also got a flagrant one for pushing Plumlee in the back in defense of his team mate. 

At 5:35 the Clippers made a push that tied up this game at 108. Los Angeles went on to take the lead; their first lead with a 17-2 run. The two teams began to trade leads as this game was going down to the wire. 

Curry had a real challenge being double-teamed for most of the game and forced to take some very difficult shots. Los Angeles had their largest lead when it really counted; in the last minute of the game 126-120. 

With 48.3 ticks left on the clock the Warriors were in danger of losing. Golden State was unable to guard the Clippers in the fourth quarter when it really counted. The final was 130-125 in favor of Los Angeles. This was an impressive win for the Clippers having to play without Leonard but they fought throughout the contest for the eventual victory.

The Warriors had a terrific game doing just about everything needed to win. Curry finished with 41 points hitting nine shots from downtown. Podziemski was terrific off the bench with 25 points going 5 for 5 from beyond the arc. Golden State protected the ball well with only 9 turnovers. It was a disappointing loss for the Warriors after leading for the majority of the game and playing so well throughout.   

Game notes: Wednesday night the Warriors took on one of the best in the west the Clippers at Chase Center. The Clippers are currently in third place in the Western Conference. The Clippers have the third ranked offense and they are first in three’s. Despite a crazy schedule, the Warriors are playing their best basketball of the season. They defeated the Warriors at Chase by five points and hop on a plane to play the Utah Jazz on Thursday leading into the All-Star game. Golden State failed to get their sixth win in a row Wednesday night. They couldn’t win the final two games before the break.

In a quick turnaround, the Warriors will hop on a plane and fly back out to Utah to make up the suspended game from January 17. It has been a crazy week for the Warriors but they are really rising to the occasion playing what is probably their best basketball all season. Tipoff for the Jazz game Thursday night is scheduled for 6:00 PM.  

   

Thompson Scores Team High 26 – Warriors Beat Jazz 129-107

The Golden State Warriors (26-25) have been on a roll despite some quiet games from Klay Thompson. Tonight against the Utah Jazz (26-28), Thompson played a terrific game scoring the team high of 26 points. 

On top of that, Warriors guard Stephen Curry hit five 3’s in the fourth quarter. They did this all without Head Coach Steve Kerr who was in Serbia attending the funeral of assistant coach Dejan Milojevic. Every starter in this game scored double digits beating the Jazz 129-107. The team now boasts a season record of 26-25.

Game recap: The Jazz hung in this game throughout but just could not finish. They were able to tie the second quarter 29 apiece but Golden State took a 63-55 lead into the locker room at the half. Seven Warriors hit three’s in the opening quarter which was an amazing start for the team and set the tone for the game. The Jazz were able score on seven straight possessions in the first half but the Warriors erased their lead to go back in front.

Golden State continued this pace testing the Jazz’s new starting lineup. Utah had traded away Simone Fontecchio, Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji for draft assets down the road. The Warriors rendered this lineup ineffective. They went on to win the third quarter 30-25 and the final quarter 36-27 with the final 129-107 in favor of Golden State. The Warriors had won their fifth straight game.

This was a terrific game for the Warriors with every starter contributing double digits. Off the bench Jackson, Payton and Podziemski also scored double digits. Klay Thompson really came to life in this one scoring 26 points, the team high, and six rebounds. 

This was Thompson’s highest points scored since they played Chicago on January 12. Curry was right behind him with 25 points, six rebounds and ten assists. Jonathan Kuminga also reached a milestone with his 14 points being the 31st straight game in double figures for him.

Andrew Wiggins added 17 points and Draymond Green with 12 points. This was first time in a bit that every starter came to the party and it was flawless. The Warriors hit 20 three’s in this game and really protected the ball with only 13 turnovers.

Post game notes: Monday night the Warriors took on the Jazz in Utah. They had to play without a number of coaches in this game which included head coach Steve Kerr. They were all in Serbia attending the funeral of assistant coach Dejan Milojevic. 

Assistant coach Kenny Atkinson took over head coach duties. The Warriors won their fifth win in a row. The Warriors came into this game after a real thriller in Phoenix. Curry hit a three with .07 left on the clock to take a 113-112 lead which was the final last Saturday night to beat the Suns. 

The Warriors are looking forward to their next challenge when they head back to Chase Center to take on the Los Angeles Clippers (35-16). This will be a true test but considering how they played tonight, they are certainly up for the challenge. Tipoff for this game is scheduled for this Wednesday 7:00 PM.
