#2 Len, talk about those catch phrases that he used after a goal was scored he was well known for.

#3 Penguins star Syd Crosby said he was proud that Lange called almost all his goals of his career that’s saying a mouthful right there.

#4 Turning to the Four Nations Tournament Team USA and Team Canada battle at TD Garden in Boston on Thursday night Team Canada wins it in overtime 3-2 on Conner McDavid’s goal at 8:18.

#5 No doubt about it there were some gritty hockey played in this tournament no one caved in and all teams played like everything was on the line. It was not like an East vs. West All Star game where they run up the score.

NHL podcast with Len Shapiro: Luukonen saves 35 in 4-0 Buffalo shutout over Ottawa; Lightning get some offense against Bruins in 4-1 win; plus more NHL news

#1 Ukko-Pekka Luukonen stopped 35 shots as the Buffalo Sabres shutout the Ottawa Senators 4-0 at the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday night. It was Luukonen’s second shutout of the season and his seven career. Luukonen has the hot hand he’s 5-1-1 in his last seven starts.

# 2 Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 11 of his 27 saves in third period action to help beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 at Amalie Arena. The Bolts Brandon Hagel had a goal and an assist and Ryan McDonagh and Nikita Kucherov each had two assists as the Lightning have now won two in a row.

#3 The New York Rangers Sam Carrick scored in the overtime stanza help defeat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. Jacob Markstrom robbed what could have been game winners in overtime for the Rangers Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad. But it was Carrick who scored on a two on one with Reilly Smith and putting the puck on net for winner.

#4 The Dallas Stars have gone undefeated in their last six games including the win on home ice Thursday 4-1 over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Stars Mavrik Bourque, Roope Hintz, Wyatt Johnston and Miro Heiskanen all scored in the three goal winner.

#5 The Pittsburgh Penguins Syd Crosby passed Joe Sakic for ninth place on the all time points list with 1643 points (604 goals and 1039 assists) Crosby moves two points ahead of Sakic who has 1641 points. The Penguins also defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.

#1 Arizona Coyotes might relocate to Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City is being very aggressive about getting the Coyotes. The owner of the Utah Jazz Ryan Smith wants an NHL team to join he and the Jazz at the Salt Palace.

#2 The St Louis Blues had to be sore after losing to the San Jose Sharks last Saturday in overtime. The next day the Blues exploded and defeated the Anaheim Ducks six goals and came away with a 6-5 win. On Wednesday the Blues once again got a three goal win to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks by three goals 5-2 all four of the Blues first four shots were all goals to start the game.

#3 The Edmonton Oilers Conner McDavid was scratched out of the line up against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday. The Oilers have been rolling and even without McDavid the Oilers came out a big winner 5-1 in Edmonton. McDavid missed practice for the second straight day with a lower body injury

#4 Syd the Kid Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins wins the NHLPA most complete player of the year. Crosby got 38.37 percent of the vote Crosby beat out the Florida Panthers center Alexander Barkov who had 14.6 percent of the vote.

#5 Alexander Ovechkin is becoming like the ageless wonder setting a record scoring 30 or more goals for the 18th season. In the first 43 games this season Ovechkin had eight goals and teammate Dylan Strome said he wouldn’t be surprised if he reached 30 which he has now done for the 18th time.

#6 The New Jersey Devils failed to make post season for tenth time in 12 seasons. New Jersey suffered from injuries, goalie instability, and the Devils have suffered a numerous amount of injuries and missed a lot of key players who were out.
