#3 Michael, in that first half was it a matter of Stanford just getting out of the gate a little slow on offense.

#4 Jaylen Blakes provided some offense as well finishing with 17 points he was a key distributor for Stanford getting some good looks.

#5 Stanford hosts the Virginia Cavaliers who just got done playing the Cal Bears on Wednesday night. Virginia is 12th in the Atlantic Coast. The Hokies are just above .500. The Stanford Cardinal quarterback Ashton Daniels (14) is trucking down field against the NC State Wolfpack in Raleigh NC Sat Nov 2, 2024 (Stanford Cardinal photo)

Stanford Cardinal podcast with Michael Roberson:

#1 Stanford had a tough time shutting down NC State Wolfpack on Sat Nov 1st in Raleigh as NC State crushed the Cardinal 59-28. The Cardinal defense was left on the field for most of the game and just couldn’t stop the NC State offense who had a big day in scoring.

#2 Not only were the Cardinal steamrolled by NC State this last loss marks Stanford sixth straight loss in a row.

#3 The win for the Wolfpack ended their two game home losing streak. The Cardinal just couldn’t stop the Wolfpack run and in third quarter the Wolf Pack exploded for three touchdowns that pretty much put the game of reach for Stanford.

#4 For Cardinal quarterback Justin Lamson only 3-8, 103 yards passing, one touchdown, and one interception. From all intense and purposes Lamson didn’t get enough time because it was four and out in most of Stanford’s offensive series.

#5 Up next for the Cardinal the Louisville Cardinals (6-3) this Sat Nov 16th. The Cardinals have won three of their last five games. The Cardinals won in their last game 33-21 against Clemson on Sat Nov 2. It’s the Cardinals vs. the Cardinal at Stanford Stadium a 12:30pm PST.

Stanford Cardinal podcast with Michael Roberson: Is there a quarterback controversy before Stanford’s opener Friday?

Stanford Cardinal quarterback Ashton Daniels seen here dropping back to pass in practice on Tue Jul 30, 2024 is also competing for the starter job with quarterbacks Justin Lamson and Elijah Brown (Bay Area News Group photo)

On the Stanford Cardinal podcast with Michael Roberson:

#1 Stanford Cardinal quarterback Ashton Daniels doesn’t have a lock as starting quarterback. Stanford head coach Troy Taylor has not announced a starter for this Friday night’s opener against TCU.

#2 Daniels knows about the imminent quarterback controversy and that’s a good thing all three quarterbacks trying to make starter have had good camps.

#3 Daniels said having a team first and positive attitude have helped during this competitive practices and what could seen as a tryout to make first string.

#4 This is no different than last season as Daniels had to compete for the first string job this season he’s competing with Justin Lamson and Elijah Brown. This might be a decision that goes right down to practice the day before the game.

#5 Coach Taylor is also considering using multiple quarterbacks like what he did last season. He used multiple quarterbacks in 11 different games last season.

#3 After the breakup of the Pac 12 the ACC was a landing spot for the Cardinal along with Big Game rival the Cal Bears. That was a important part of this change keeping them in the same division.

#4 Coach Taylor said any conference would love to have the Cardinal, that long history, the tradition, playing at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto.

#5 Coach Taylor said that the Cardinal had a successful program ten years ago. Taylor added the Cardinal need to build their program because the Cardinal will be in another position to be realigned again and having a strong program is important to attract other conferences when that time comes.
