Sacramento Kings podcast Barbara:

#1 With the Kings missing key forward Keegan Murray due to a thumb injury also Domantas Sabonis is out with a hamstring injury, how will Sacramento re‑adjust its front‑court rotation and maintain its defensive and rebounding presence?

#2 The Suns will be without newly‑acquired guard Jalen Green (hamstring) for this matchup — how will Phoenix compensate for his absence in terms of perimeter scoring and attacking the paint?

#3 Which team’s strength will dictate the outcome — Sacramento’s inside game led by Russell Westbrook or Phoenix’s external shooting and pace? Historically, the Kings have excelled inside while the Suns have gained from 3‑point volume.

#4 Given both teams’ struggles with turnovers and defense in recent games, which side will better limit mistakes and convert transition opportunities, and how critical will that be for game flow?

#5 Home‑court advantage on opening night: will Phoenix use the energy of its home crowd and fresh start to set the tone, or will Sacramento’s road experience and veteran‑laden roster help it manage the season‑opener nerves?

Sacramento Kings podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson: Pelicans split with Kings end 9 game skid in 140-133 OT win

The New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCullom (left) rolls past the Sacramento Kings forwards Keegan Murray (13) and Domantas Sabonis (11) for a layup in the first half at Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans on Thu Feb 13, 2025 (AP News photo)

Sacramento Kings podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson:

#1 The only way the New Orleans Pelicans (13-42) were going to end their nine game losing streak was to score lost of points and that’s what they did to split a two game set with the Sacramento Kings (28-27) on Thursday night 140-133 at Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans.

#2 The Kings made an all out effort to get this game but the Pelicans were on a mission to avoid losing a tenth straight game and it was a game of pride for them for this win.

#3 The Kings leading scorer Zach LaVine went all out with 32 points, two rebounds, and two assists in spite of the loss the Kings looked like they got what they bargained for in obtaining a player like LaVine.

#4 Malik Monk has been a big help he was second in scoring for the Kings with 24 points, six rebounds and nine assists. In some of the Kings wins Monk has been right there in the offensive tally.

#5 Next up for the Kings they’ll face Golden State at Sacramento. The Warriors have won six of their last ten games are are just behind the ninth place Kings in tenth place. Can the Kings fend off Jimmy Butler and the Warriors on Fri Feb 21st?

Sacramento Kings podcast with Barbara Mason: Did the Fox fiasco play into the Kings struggles?

Former Sacramento King guard De’Aaron Fox (5) who was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in a three way deal. The Kings got Zach Levine from the Chicago Bulls. (AP file photo)

Sacramento Kings podcast with Barbara Mason:

#1 Barbara the Sacramento Kings in a three way trade got Zach Levine from the Chicago Bulls, De’Aaron Fox goes to the San Antonio Spurs, the Bulls got Zach Collins, Kevin Huerter, Tre Jones.

#2 Before we get into the game Saturday night lets just examine the latest rumors regarding the trade of De’Aaron Fox. For quite awhile they have been a constant and suggest discontent on Fox’s part. Are these rumors bringing a surge of bad energy to the team.

#3 With all of that being said, let’s revisit the game Saturday night against the Western Conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder. To say it was a blowout is putting it mildly. They have been playing poorly lately, so what is going on with the team

#4 One of the reasons that the Kings were beaten so badly was the play of Aaron Wiggins who had started in place of the injured Jalen Williams putting up 41 points which was a career high for him

#5 When you look at the stats for this game, they were so lopsided in favor of the Thunder outplaying the Kings in every category possible. There was not much that Sacramento was able to do against the Thunder Saturday night.

#6 Tonight the Kings finish up their current road trip taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves looking to put an end to this lackluster play and get back on the winning track. What can we expect to see tonight.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Barbara Mason: Kings-Nets tip off at Barclay Center tonight in Brooklyn

Sacramento Kings small forward DeMar DeRozan (10) attempts to take it to the net being defended by the New York Knicks small forward OG Anunoby (8) in the second half at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sat Jan 25, 2025 (AP News photo)

On the Sacramento Kings podcast with Barbara Mason:

#1 The New York Knicks OG Anunoby led with 33 points, Josh Hart followed up with 20 points and had 18 rebounds and 11 assists it was Hart’s sixth triple double for the 2024-25 season and the effort was good enough to beat the Sacramento Kings 143-120 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

#2 Adding to the Knicks scoring total Mikal Bridges with 27 points and Jalen Brunson with 25 points, 11 assists. Brunson needed two more points to reach his season high. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 16 points and had 15 rebounds.

#3 Despite the hard effort and the loss by the Kings DeMar DeRozan led the Kings with 31 points and Domantas Sabonis followed up with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists.

#4 So this season no player on the Kings roster has played in all 45 games this season. Keon Ellis is the closest with 44 games played. The Kings still continue to struggle against the Knicks at MSG having not won there since Nov 3, 2019.

#5 The Kings take on the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn for a 4:30pm PST tip. The Nets are 12th in the Eastern Conference at 14-32 and are struggling big time having lost six straight games. The Kings have lost two straight and are hoping to get back in the win column. The Kings are tenth in the Western Conference at 23-22 and are .500 on the road at 15-15.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Barbara Mason: Kings clobber Warriors at Chase Center 129-99 for fourth straight win

Sacramento Kings guard Devin Carter (22) who just recently joined the big club from the G League’s Stockton Kings goes for the high percentage shot against the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Sun Jan 5, 2025 (AP News photo)

On the Sacramento Kings podcast:

#1 Sacramento Kings Malik Monk scored 26 points and 12 assists and the Kings also got help from Domantas Sobonis with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in a huge win over the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Sunday 129-99.

#2 The win marks interim head coach Doug Christie’s fourth straight win against one loss and there is little doubt that he has this team fired up since taking over the reigns after former Kings head coach Mike Brown was fired after losing five straight games.

#3 What was amazing about Sunday’s win against Golden State was the Kings did it without DeAaron Fox whose been the Kings lead scorer and has been the focus of trade rumors.

#4 The Kings never were behind the Warriors through the Sunday contest and led at the half by a whopping score of 75-51. The Kings in this game looked every bit like a playoff contender despite occupying 11th in the Western Conference.

#5 It’s right back to work at Golden 1 Center as the Kings match up against the Miami Heat who are sixth in the Eastern Conference Monday night. The Heat have won four of their last six and lost two games in a row. They are having internal issues with their star player Jimmy Butler wanting to be traded and said he wants out of Miami. Its been reported that Butler does not get along with Heat executive Pat Riley. Butler’s argument is Riley has not put together a competitive team and Riley has suspended Butler for seven games for conduct detrimental of the team. It should be noted Butler had issues with other NBA teams in Chicago, Philadelphia and Minnesota before leaving those clubs as well. So who will want to pick him up is a big question. Golden State said they will take a pass on Butler after looking into Butler.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Barbara Mason: How Derozan compliments Kings and coach Brown’s plans to raise the Kings position for the post season

Former Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan leaping on the right with ball in hands during contest with the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center on Wed Mar 6, 2024 is expected to add power to the Sacramento Kings line up for the 2024-25 season (AP News photo)

On the Sacramento Kings podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara how important is it for the Sacramento Kings to get to 50 wins at a minimum for this season. The Kings last season they were 43-36.

#2 Barbara, how important is it for the Kings to get off to a fast start not by going 2-4 but winning 5-1 or 4-2.

#3 The Kings acquired DeMar Derozan from the Chicago Bulls in the off season and people questioned how he will fit in. Head coach Mike Brown said Derozan will be a huge compliment for the Kings offense this seaon.

#4 One of the advantages that the Kings have is they have so many guys returning from last season who compliment the team chemistry, this is coach Browns third year back, Domantas Sobonis, De’Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, Malik Monk to name a few.

#5 One thing about the Western Conference is that with this group the Kings could go that 4-2 and win three of five games either at home and on the road. They were an over .500 team last season finished ninth in the Western Conference can they improve their position for a better seeded spot in the battle of making post season.
