#1 MLB ok’d the possibility for the Tampa Bay Rays to play at their temporary home park George M Steinbrenner Field in Tampa Bay if the Rays were to get into the post season. The park seats 10,000 fans and is sure to be sold out if the Rays make the post season. The other alternate was to have the Rays play at LoanDepot Park in Miami at big league park but the Rays and MLB will have the Rays play at the Minor League park.

#2 MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and the Players Association union head Tony Clark are exploring the idea of having MLB players in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. If agreed upon by both sides and the Olympic Committee the game would be an extension of the All Star break. Manfred said it would be a great opportunity for baseball to be on the global stage.

#3 Jeremiah, all the talk in baseball is surrounding the 2025 All Star Game in Atlanta where the National League’s Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies hit three home runs in the newly formatted Swing Off instead of playing extra innings it’s a home run derby to decide the winner of the All Star game.

#4 MLB and the All Star Game paid tribute to the late home run king Henry Aaron show a play by play video on the Truist Field baseball diamond of Aaron at the plate needing one more home to break Babe Ruth’s home run record. Aaron on a 1-0 count facing the Los Angles Dodgers Al Downing slugged a pitch that went into the Atlanta Braves bullpen at Fulton County Stadium April 8, 1974. It was a celebration that included pyrotechnics effects it lasted one minute and left you wanting more.

#5 Jeremiah, all the controversy surrounding Milwaukee Brewers sensation Jacob Misiorowski (4-1) with complaints that he pitched only five games and he gets an All Star selection and there were Philadelphia Phillies pitchers who pitched much more and had more wins. It was pointed out that by Phillies players that pitchers Ranger Suarez and Chris Sanchez were left out in favor of Misiorowski. Phillies Trea Turner said the idea was “terrible”, Nick Castellanos said the All Star Game is turning into the “Savannah Bananas”, and catcher JT Realmuto said “Nothing against the Misiorowski kid. But [Suarez and Sanchez] are deserving of being on the team in the first place. There’s no doubt.”

#1 Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he feels “really encouraged” by Mookie Betts recovery. Betts had been ill and couldn’t keep solid down and lost 18 pounds. Betts went through a full workout at Dodger Stadium on Monday and is expected to be back in the line up on Tuesday.

#2 New York Yankees signed left hander Ryan Yarbrough to a $2 million one year deal with a $250,000 in contract bonuses the Yankees announced on Monday. Yarbrough 33 pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays in spring training and opted out of his contract Sunday after learning that he would not be on the opening day roster.

#3 Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez will not open the season and will be on the injured list as Suarez is recovering from a lower back injury. Suarez could be ready to pitch sometime in April according to Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski.

#4 At the Sacramento A’s and San Francisco Giants Triple A team the Sacramento River Cats ballpark Sutter Health Park the grounds crew will have replacement grass on standby in the event the grass starts to brown or deteriorate. The A’s and River Cats are considering the amount of games being played on the shared field they will need the sod on standby.

#5 The Phillies left hand pitcher Matt Strahm did not pitch in the final Grapefruit League game on Monday due to a finger injury while packing. Strahm tore a fingernail on his left middle finger while preparing for a trip to the Phillies spring training home in Clearwater Florida.

Began as Oakland A’s Spanish-language voice in 1977 ending in 2024 (interrupted by stops with the Giants, Mariners and Angels). Voice of the Golden State Warriors from 1992 through 1998. 2010 inducted in the Bay Area Radio Hall of fame.

#1 Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw got rocked by the Arizona Diamondback for six runs in the first inning facing eight hitters and didn’t get out of the first inning at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night. In the first game of the NLDS in the Southland the D-Backs came away a winning in a laugher 11-2 to take a 1-0 series lead.

#2 The Atlanta Braves had momentum going into the NLDS but that sharpness got dulled as the visiting Philadelphia Phillies got some good pitching from starter Ranger Suarez who went 3.2 and gave up one hit. Suarez’ relief staff teammates seven pitcher in all shut the Braves out for the rest of the way for the 3-0 win. As the Phils take a 1-0 lead in the series. This was the first time the Braves had lost all year at Truist Park in Cobb County.

#3 Charlie, how key was Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander’s pitching six inning of shutout ball against the Minnesota Twins in game 1 of the ALDS. The Twins tried to comeback in the top of the seventh at Minute Maid Field with four runs but the Astros relievers held the Twins hitting back and came away with a 6-4 win.

#4 Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Gunnar Henderson’s second base steal attempt a miscommunication in the bottom of the ninth. The O’s were down to the Texas Rangers 3-2 and Gunnar said he saw the steal sign and took off on a 2-1 Aaron Hicks pitch. Henderson was thrown out on a Jonah Heim throw. Hyde was seen on TV saying “What the F—.”

#5 Charlie sad news former San Francisco Giants pitcher Jim Poole who pitched for seven different MLB teams and the bulk of his time was with Baltimore Orioles died of ALS Lou Gehrig’s decease at 57. Poole had been diagnosed two years ago with ALS. Poole made 431 appearances and was 22-12 with four saves and a career ERA 4.31.

#1 Covid 19 has hit Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene and he has been placed on the seven day Covid list with two other Reds pitchers Ben Lively and Fernando Cruz. Covid 19 cases have been on the rise and it was recommended that vaccines should be taken. The Reds were going good how does loosing Greene, Lively and Cruz impact the Reds.

#2 Stephen, Friday was the first day of the MLB expanded roster as the Philadelphia Phillies added left handed pitcher Ranger Suarez and outfielder Cristan Pache. Suarez had been out 15 days with a right hamstring strain and Pache had been out on the ten day IL with right elbow irritation. The Phils are in the hunt and have to be happy to get Suarez and Pache back on the active roster.

#3 The Los Angeles Angels a club that you will be seeing a little bit later tonight have called up six players to fill open positions infielder Kyren Paris, left hand pitcher Kolton Ingram, right hand pitchers Jimmy Herget, Gerardo Reyes, and Andrew Wantz, and infielder Michael Stefanic. The Angels replaced six players who were place on waivers.

#4 The Cleveland Guardians wasted no time they grabbed three of the waived players from the Angels, left handers Lucas Giolito and Matt Moore, and Rey Lopez. The Cincinnati Reds took outfielder Hunter Renfroe and pitcher Dominic Leone was picked up by the Seattle Mariners.

#5 MLB has opted to keep the pitch clock rules for the 2023 post season meaning the pitcher and the batter will be obligated to abide by the same time frame as they did during the 2023 regular season. MLB will not use the ghost runner for the post season.
