Oakland A’s podcast with Jerry Feitelberg: What happens if A’s win World Series?; Will that save the team from leaving Oakland?

#1 What will it take to convince the Oakland City Council to realize that the Oakland A’s are a viable asset to the city? Will it take the A’s going all the way this season and winning the World Series or still that wouldn’t be good enough to save the team?

#2 A’s team president David Kaval says the A’s are committed to staying in Oakland but MLB is giving the instruction to the team to make preparations to look at other markets to possibly move to we didn’t get a chance to ask you Jerry if this is more of a pressure move by MLB or they really want the A’s to consider looking elsewhere?

#3 The A’s have been having much success they’ve won seven of their last 11 games, on the field none of the talk about them having to get a new ballpark built or they will have to move has distracted them whatsoever.

#4 Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis weighed in and said that the Raiders would welcome the A’s to Las Vegas. Davis said the Oakland City Council is not capable of getting anything done from his experience with them trying to keep the Raiders in Oakland and he wouldn’t be surprised if the A’s will join the Raiders in Vegas.

#5 The A’s have had a successful series against the Boston Red Sox the will conclude the three game series tonight as A’s starter Sean Manaea who took a no hitter into the eighth inning against the Tampa Bay Rays in his last outing (3-1 ERA 3.07) will start against the Boston Red Sox Garrett Richards (2-2 ERA 4.54) a 4:10pm first pitch.

On the A’s podcast with Jerry F:

#1 Oakland A’s pitcher Lou Trivino who pitched one third in relief on Wednesday night got tattooed by the Toronto Blue Jays at the Oakland Coliseum giving up three runs and five hits in relief.

#2 The relief core surrendered five runs in the top of the eighth inning to the Jays and the A’s wound up losing by as many runs 9-4.

#3 Reliever Adam Kolarek came in to relieve Trivino and threw a wild pitch to move runners to second and third and was lifted for Jordan Weems who wound up giving up a hit and two runs for the five run eighth and the damage was done for a 7-4 lead.

#4 The Jays added two more runs in the ninth inning for a nine run evening tally. The key thing for A’s victories has been the bullpen to hold them for wins but on Wednesday night the pen struggle to keep runners off the bases.

#5 The Jays and A’s conclude this four game series at 12:37pm this afternoon at the Oakland Coliseum. Starting pitchers for this afternoon for the Blue Jays Hyun Jin Ryu (1-2 ERA 2.60) and for the A’s Mike Fiers (0-1 ERA 4.60) struggled in his first outing for a loss.

#1 Oakland A’s releiver Sergio Romo stepped off the pitchers mound on Tuesday afternoon to smile a bit before facing his longtime friend and former teammate the Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Madison Bumgarner. The two played together on the San Francisco Giants and won three World Series titles together.

#2 Bumgarner during the at bat was smiling the who time he was in the batters box facing Romo, It was the first time Romo saw Bumgarner smile on a baseball field in the whole time they played with and against each other.

#3 Bumgarner struck out on a looking fast ball third strike turned and said a word to plate umpire Adrian Johnson before walking back to the dugout. Romo had struckout his old teammate.

#4 Matt Olson seeing the ball well got a home run on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals pitcher Jake Newberry. After the rake on Jake, Newberry got angry and struck out the next three hitters.

#4 In his start against the Royals A’s pitcher AJ Puk threw for two innings, two hits, two earned runs, one walk and four strike outs.

#5 Jerry everybody has been waiting to see how A’s pitcher Trevor Rosenthal and how he will perform he relieved Puk going one inning, two hits, one earned run, one walk, and one strike out. The A’s are expecting big things from Rosenthal this season.

#1 The A’s evened the series with the Dodgers on Thursday night this series is a good test for both teams with both being first place teams it’s a good look at both their strengths.

#2 The Dodgers used two relievers in the first two innings starting with Joe Kelly who allowed two hits from the first two hitters he faced including the A’s Tommy LaStella who doubled to rightfield.

#3 Robbie Grossman hit a double to get the A’s on the scoreboard and the A’s were in business later the A’s got another run Mark Canha drove home Grossman. The A’s would start the game off scoring three runs in the first inning.

#4 With the game tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth inning the A’s Ramon Laureano hit a two run homer to give the A’s the eventual win 6-4.

#5 Starting pitchers for tonight’s final and third game at Dodgers Stadium for the A’s Mike Fiers (6-2 ERA 4.67) and for the Dodgers Walker Buhler (1-0 ERA 3.86)

#1 Jerry we’ll be taking a look at the Oakland A’s pitching staff and to the whys of their success this season. The pitching makes all the difference for a big league’s club success and the A’s this season hasn’t been an exception.

#2 The A’s are coming off a split in Colorado losing on Tuesday but on Wednesday afternoon they got some traction from starter Mike Fiers who pitched six innings and the bullpen came in and closed the game for the 3-1 win.

#3 Lets take a look at last Monday’s game in Seattle under 200 plus air quality conditions and A’s starting pitcher Mike Minor on the mound in the second game of the doubleheader making his first start for Oakland going the distance pitching seven innings for a two hit shutout.

#4 Sean Manaea did lose Tuesday’s game in Colorado 4-3 but previous to that he’s had some great starts including the outing he had when he pitched against the Houston Astros last week on Thu 10th going seven innings, surrendering two hits, one run for a 3-1 win.

#5 The A’s host the San Francisco Giants Friday night at the Oakland Coliseum. The Giants had struggled against the San Diego Padres in San Diego last weekend had to fly to Seattle on Sunday night for a Monday doubleheader which was canceled because of bad Seattle air quality and then moved the two game series to San Francisco on Wednesday and Thursday. The Giants have not announced a starting pitcher yet for Friday night and the A’s will start Chris Bassitt whose had a great last outing now 4-2 ERA 2.92.

On the A’s podcast with Jerry F:

#1 Jerry talk a little bit about the A’s and Astros series where they have played five games against each other this week.

#2 The A’s and Astros had a doubleheader on Tuesday night in the middle of the series and they both split. In the first game A’s Khris Davis hit his second home run of the season in the 4-2 win and lost the second game 5-4 when the bullpen couldn’t hold up.

#3 The A’s have had much success in staying ahead of the Astros, the Astros did suffer some starting pitching injuries and had lost eight of their last 11 games.

#4 Although the A’s hold a 5 1/2 game lead on the Astros like manager Bob Melvin says about Houston their not a team that you could let up on.

#5 The A’s have three more doubleheaders left in Texas on Sep 12th, Sep 14 in Seattle and Sep 26th versus Seattle in Oakland.

#1 It’s good to be home and after plenty of rest the Oakland A’s have had seven days out of eight off and the one day they played was a doubleheader last Saturday in Houston which they got swept.

#2 A’s manager Bob Melvin said that stopping at anytime is not good for a team whose timing and momentum is crucial. The A’s inspite of the time off hold a  2 1/2 game first place lead on the Astros.

#3 Jerry during this lull the trade deadline takes center stage as the A’s traded for Mike Minor for two players to be named later with the Rangers and they got Tommy LaStella from the LA Angels for Franklin Barretto both Minor and LaStella will be at the park for the first time for the A’s on Friday night.

#4 Regarding A’s outfielder Ramon Laureano who lead MLB in hit by pitches with eight and the A’s as a team have been beaned 25 time out of the first 34 ball games. Is it deliberate or are pitchers not having the kind of control they used to?

#5 The A’s have rescheduled the following games and dates for doubleheaders as make up games Sep 9th Astros, Sat Sep 12th @ Texas, Mon Sep 14 @ Seattle, Sat Sep 26th Seattle.

On the A’s podcast with Jerry:

#1 How surprising was it for you to see the A’s go into San Francisco sweep the Giants in three games and then turn around and drop two games in Arizona in games that weren’t even close?

#2 Could it be possible that A’s starters are running out of gas or the Diamondback hitters like David Peralta and Nick Amhed were just having great games against the A’s.

#3 Jerry, talk about A’s pitcher Sean Manaea is there any concern about his outings he’s struggled  he has allowed 17 runs, 15 of those for earned runs, opposing teams are hitting .364 against him for three homers and six doubles in 71 hitters he has faced. How much longer will the A’s stick with him?

#4 Frankie Montas got rocked on Tuesday night in Arizona allowing nine runs and six hits, Montas gave up the first run of the game on a wild pitch and after giving up his fourth walk was pulled out of the game. Montas had not pitched since Aug 8th and was scratched with sore arm problems on Fri Aug 14th against the Giants.

#5 A’s and Diamondbacks play the second of this two game series at the Coliseum tonight at 6:45pm the Diamondbacks will start left hander Alex Young (1-0 ERA 3.86) and the A’s will go with left hander Sean Manaea (0-2 ERA 7.65)
