Oakland A’s podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson:
I got a chance to talk to players, front office people, A’s manager Mark Kotsay, coaches, stadium employees and security guards I’ve know for decades. This Thursday this afternoon This is the end of baseball in Oakland this is going to be a by gone era after 57 seasons.
Who knows what going to happen in Sacramento maybe they might be able to come back here but I don’t see that happening. Everything is up in the air. It definitely feels like this is the end of baseball in Oakland.
Major League Baseball agent Scott Boras appeared on 1530 KFBK Sacramento Thu Sep 12, 2024 saying that Sutter Health Park is a minor league facility and that Oakland A’s games should continue to be played at the Oakland Coliseum. Boras said that the players are not happy about the Sutter Health upgrades which includes artificial turf that will raise the temperature surface on the field and a much smaller facility for big league players. On the Oakland A’s podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson:
#1 Construction at Sutter Health Park is being worked on for the clubhouses, weight rooms, family facilities, press boxes, and seats at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento to get it ready for both the Sacramento River Cats and Sacramento A’s for 2025.
#2 With the latest wrinkle last Thursday when baseball agent Scott Boras said the players are not on board with the upgrades including artificial turf being installed due to it raising the temperature on the field. Boras said that Sutter Health Park would be the only artificial turf outdoor stadium in MLB and with players being worth millions of dollars they could get burned sliding on the hot turf causing significant injuries.
#3 Another issue like the public funding in Las Vegas for the A’s Las Vegas ballpark the A’s need to get their share of the construction costs in order before the December deadline or that funding from the State of Nevada goes away . With the Sacramento ballpark if the players and MLB can’t get to a middle ground on playing the next four seasons on artificial turf and playing in a minor league stadium that also could end up being a stalemate.
#4 Boras said one of the best solutions is for the A’s to go back to the Oakland Coliseum where the players want to finish up at until the Las Vegas ballpark is built (if at all). Another scenario the new Oakland Coliseum property owners the African American Sports Entertainment Group can offer the A’s a good rental deal to come back and play at the Coliseum and offer to help build a stadium at the Coliseum.
#5 Baseball Commissioner said there is no deal in Oakland, Oakland is a dead issue, and MLB does not want to play at the Oakland Coliseum anymore. This is where the Players Association and MLB might hit a fork in the road over forcing the players to play in an outdoor minor league stadium with artificial turf and minor league facilities vs. getting back to Coliseum which the MLBPA want to play out until the Las Vegas scenario is worked out. This is a scenario that could go sideways and hold up the Sacramento relocation.
Oakland A’s Tyler Soderstrom (21) is congratulated by Max Scheumann (12) at the plate after Soderstrom’s two run homer against the Texas Rangers in the bottom of the fourth inning at the Oakland Coliseum in the second game of a doubleheader on Wed May 8, 2024 (AP News photo)
On the Oakland A’s podcast with Jeremiah:
#1 Oakland A’s catcher Shea Langeliers has been lighting it up with his bat. In the doubleheader on Wednesday he slugged for a two run home run and knocked in five run for a career five RBIs. In game two he proceeded to hit for three more RBIs against the Texas Rangers at the Coliseum.
#2 The A’s lost game two of the doubleheader 12-11. The Rangers Jonah Heim and Nathaniel Lowe both hit for three RBIs. The Rangers wound up winning three out of four in the four game series.
#3 The A’s tried to make a come back but fell short in the night cap scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning before Rangers reliever Kirby Yates shut the door on the A’s for his seventh save of the season getting the A’s Tyler Nevin to fly out to right field with runners at first and second.
#4 Langeliers was just seeing the ball well hitting a two run home run and got another RBI while hitting into a ground out. Langeliers surpasses former Oakland A’s right fielder Reggie Jackson for the most RBIs Jackson had seven and Langeliers picked up eight on Wednesday.
#5 The A’s open a three game series in Seattle on Friday night at T Mobile Field. The A’s starter will be RHP Paul Blackburn (3-1 ERA 3.00) and for the M’s Bryan Woo (0-0 ERA 0.00) a 6:40pm PDT start.

On the Oakland A’s podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson:
#1 Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal set a season high of ten strikeouts in seven innings pitched on Thursday night and won his fourth straight game against the Oakland A’s.
#2 The loss for the A’s was their eighth straight. The Tigers went up by scores of 2-0, 5-0 and 7-0 up until the bottom of the ninth inning. The fact of the matter is through these eight straight loses the A’s offense have been absent.
#3 The Tigers Kerry Carpenter picked up his ninth multi hit game for September and it’s Detroit’s 34th multi hit game for the season.
#4 Jeremiah, the two hitters in the A’s line up that’s been seeing the ball well has been Brent Rooker and Zack Gelof but it’s not enough they whole line up needs to hit and score runs to keep up with the opposing offense?
#5 Sawyer-Gipson Long (1-0 2.70) is starting for the Tigers in game two of this series for Oakland Ken Waldichuk (3-8 ERA 5.40) first pitch at 6:40pm PT.

#2 New York Mets manager Buck Showalter said that it’s great for the game and that it beats playing the same people all the time.
#3 The high profile rival games have been cut down from 47% to 32% which featured teams like the Giants-Dodgers, Cubs-Cardinals, and Yankees-Red Sox. Seeing that the A’s are not part of those rivalries that might make things interesting for them seeing different clubs.
#4 The A’s are a huge draw when hosting the New York Yankees such as tonight’s first of four game series. The A’s next season will be hosting the Yanks on Jun 27, 28, and 29th.
#5 The Yankees did not announced a starting pitcher before tonight’s game in Oakland. New York manager Aaron Boone did not announce starting pitchers for the four game series will he surprise the A’s for each game with a bullpen starter or a starter. The A’s went with James Kaprielian (3-7, 4.29) on Thursday night.

On the A’s podcast with Jeremiah:
#1 Jeremiah, the A’s designated Jed Lowrie for assignment which could mean Lowrie could be claimed on waivers, he could take a minor league assignment, or he could be outrighted released from the club.
#2 Lowrie had played in 14 seasons in Major League Baseball and has appeared in 1307 games, he has 1185 career hits, 121 home runs, and 594 RBIs his numbers were respectable.
#3 The A’s played some of their future prospects starter JP Sears and centerfielder Cal Stevenson who went 1-3 with a run, hit and an RBI and Sears started Wednesday’s game for the A’s pitching 5.1 innings, three hits on two earned runs and three strike outs. It was an encouraging performance from their rookies.
#4 The Los Angeles Angels came in and did a lot of damage taking three games from the A’s. The most memorable game of the series came on Tuesday night when Shohei Ohtani pitched and was the designated hitter. As pitcher Ohtani started and went six innings gave up four hits, three walks and five strikeouts. Ohtani as DH hit a home run deep into the right field stands for his 25th of the season.

Oakland A’s pitcher Zach Logue delivers a top of the first inning pitch to the Detroit Tigers in the front game of a doubleheader at the Oakland Coliseum on Thu Jul 21, 2022 (AP News photo)
On the A’s podcast with Jeremiah:
#1 The A’s hosted the Detroit Tigers in the first game of the doubleheader got handled 7-2 in a game that they just couldn’t get any hitting.
#2 In that first game the Tigers Javier Baez the designated hitter had his way with A’s pitching with two runs and three hits and help provide some crucial offense.
#3 A’s pitcher Zach Logue whose had his struggles in the starting role pitched six innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs, with four strikeouts.
#4 In the second game the A’s got the pitching and the hitting holding a five run lead and shutting out the Tigers with A’s pitcher Frankie Montas going three innings, two hits and five strikeouts. Montas was proceeded by five relievers who managed to keep the shutout in tack for the 5-0 win.
#5 The A’s coming off a doubleheader split will open up a three game series against the Texas Rangers on Friday night starting pitcher for the Rangers Spencer Howard (1-1, 6.97) and for the A’s Cole Irvin (4-7, 3.21) a 6:40 pm first pitch at the Oakland Coliseum.
Oakland A’s hitter Sheldon Neuse takes a broken bat cut against the Texas Rangers in the sixth inning at the Oakland Coliseum on Thu May 26, 2022 (AP News photo)
On the A’s podcast with Jeremiah:
#1 Oakland A’s starter Frankie Montas pitched masterfully again but the A’s offense once again could not carry the game to the finish line with a win. Montas did his part throwing for seven innings, three hits, two walks and 11 strikeouts.
#2 Montas pitching leaves little doubt that the A’s will shop him to get some future prospects but when that will happen is up to team vice president Billy Beane and general manager David Forst.
#3 The A’s of late have not only been getting great pitching from Montas but also starter Paul Blackburn who improved his record to 5-0 with a win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.
#4 In the top of the ninth inning at the Coliseum the Rangers scored three runs breaking a 1-1 deadlock when Adolis Garcia hit an RBI double to score pinch runner Eli White, Nathanial Lowe came up next and hit a two run home run for the 4-1 win.

On the A’s podcast with Jeremiah:
#1 The Oakland A’s who lost three out of four to the Los Angeles Angels the last time the two teams met last week. The A’s open a three series Friday at the Big A in Anaheim. During that last meeting Angels star Shohei Ohtani slugged two home runs.
#2 Things have changed in 2022. The A’s are in a rebuild mode. The A’s have revamped their lineup. Matt Chapman, Matt Olson, Mark Canha, Sean Manaea, Chris Bassitt, Yusmeiro Petit, Starling Marte, Josh Harrison, and Yan Gomes are no longer with the club.
#3 The A’s team batting average is one point below the Mendoza line. The team payroll is about 48 Million dollars, the second-lowest in Major League Baseball.

#5 For the opening game of the series the Angels will be sending starter Paul Blackburn to the hill (4-0, 1.67) and for the Angels Chase Silseth (1-0, 0.00) a 6:38 pm PDT first pitch.
Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier loses sight of the ball hit by the Oakland Athletics Sean Murphy in the top of the third inning at Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay Thu Apr 14, 2022 (AP News photo)
Oakland A’s podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson:
#1 Jerermiah, No one would have predicted after the Oakland A’s (4-3) dealt Starling Marte, Mark Canha, Sean Manaea, Matt Olson, Chris Bassitt and Matt Chapman that they would open the season on the road winning four of their last seven games going 4-3.
#2 To open the season on the road the A’s lost their first two games to the Philadelphia Phillies and the critics were saying “here we go” as the oddsmakers had the A’s finishing in the bottom of the cellar but something sparked them as they now have won four of their last five games.
#3 In Tampa Bay (4-3) the A’s opened the four game series on Monday with a 13-2 win, on Tuesday they nearly won that contest but lost by a run 9-8, on Wednesday they got a three run homer out of catcher Sean Murphy and excellent pitching from Frankie Montas in a 4-2 win, and Thursday soundly beating the Rays 6-3 on some solid hitting.
#4 The A’s scored early and often on Thursday getting three runs in the second and a run in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings. Is this a matter of some smart sabermetrics or just some sound fundamental hitting from the A’s line up,
#5 The A’s will be starting Daulton Jefferies (1-0 ERA 0.00) going up against the Toronto Blue Jays (4-2) Ross Stripling (0-0 ERA 9.00) at Rogers Centre in Toronto tonight. The Blue Jays have been playing some good ball of late how do you see this match up tonight to open the series.
