On the NHL Stanley Cup playoff podcast:

#1 It’s a thriller and a huge game tonight with the Seattle Kraken and the Dallas Stars who play for all the marbles tonight for the Western Conference second round. This is a real head to head with the series with the Kraken defeating the Stars in their last match up in game 6 in Seattle to stay in the series.

#2 The Stars are 3-5 in game sevens since moving from Minnesota in 1993-94 where they are 2-2 at home, the Stars lost last year’s game 7 to the Calgary Flames 3-2 at Scotiabank Saddledome.

#3 The Stars took that tough loss to the Kraken in game 6, 6-3 and forced a game 7, the Stars got a goal from Joe Pavelski his eighth of the post season but it was the turnovers that hurt the Stars in this last contest.

#4 The New Jersey Devils head coach Lindy Ruff may not know if he’ll be back next season but Ruff did lead the Devils to their best season in 41 years going 52-22-8 a 49 point improvement from last season. It also was the first time that New Jersey had qualified for the playoffs since 2018.

#5 Taking a look at some possible draft picks for the San Jose Sharks, as you know Connor Bedard and Adam Fantilli are not joining the Sharks in the draft. However taking a look at some draft possibilities Will Smith, Leo Carlsson, or Matvei Michkov. How would one of these players be of a big help for San Jose?

On the NHL podcast with Marko:

#1 Just an amazing year for the Seattle Kraken (46-28-8) their second year in the league and they make post season. The Kraken open up a best of seven series against the Colorado Avalanche Tuesday night in Denver. The Kraken have some scorers Jared McCann 40 goals, Matty Beniers 24 goals, and Daniel Sprong 21 goals.

#2 Marko, talk about the Boston Bruins Patrice Bergeron who might miss the first playoff game against the Florida Panthers tonight due to an upper body injury. The Bruins set the record for the most wins in NHL history with 65.

#3 The Colorado Avalanche Cale Makar and Josh Manson are expected to be in the line up against the Seattle Kraken Tuesday night in Denver. Makar didn’t skate on Sunday and has missed the last seven games of the season. Manson has missed the last 23 games of the season for the Avalanche.

#4 Minnesota Wild defenceman John Klingberg is in question for tonight’s game 1 against the Dallas Stars. Klingberg is suffering from a lower body injury in practice he sustained on Saturday. Wild head coach Dean Evason said that Klingberg had issues during practice. Klingberg looks like he’ll be a game time decision.

#5 Winnipeg Jets defenseman Nikolaj Ehlers skated on his own but did not practice with the team because of an upper body injury. Ehlers is also questionable for tonight’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights. Jets head coach Rick Bowness says that Ehlers is day to day and is being watched carefully during his skates.

#1 Marko please talk about the three candidates for NHL MVP Hart Trophy Award  who were selected as finalists, the Edmonton Oilers Leon Draisaitl, the Colorado Avalanche’s Nathan McKinnon, or the New York Rangers Artemi Panarin.

#2 The NHL has reported as of Tuesday that two more players have tested positive for Covid-19 and the NHL conducted tests for more than 800 players between July 13  to 17. 33 players have tested positive since the league shut down in March until camp opened up this month.

#3 The Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask fractured a finger, Rask said he was doing box jumps and bent his finger at the edge of the box but Rask said it was nothing major and he should be ready to go when the qualifiers begin.

#4 Candidates for the Vezina Trophy finalists the award given to the best goaltender in the NHL, three candidates from the Winnpeg Jets Connor Hellebuyck who led the NHL with shutouts and was second in victories, from the Boston Bruins Tuukka Rask who led the NHL in shutouts and was second in wins, and from the Tampa Bay Lightning Andrei Vasilevskiy led the NHL in wins at 19-0-2 between Dec 17th through Feb 15th.

#5 After missing 55 games due to suffering from concussion issues it looks as if the Vancouver Canucks forward Michael Ferland will be back in the line up for the qualifiers. Ferland said after the Tuesday morning skate he felt pretty good and he’s looking forward to the scrimmage on Tuesday night.
