On the MLB The Show Post Season podcast with Augie Messenburg:

#1 This American League Championship Series has been a nail biter and a foot race between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros. It’s been about visiting teams winning in their opponents ballparks and both team literally fighting to get by.

#2 With the Astros holding a 3-2 lead going into game 6 the Rangers at Minute Maid Field came away with a seven run 9-2 win in game six tying the series 3-3.

#3 Nathan Eovaldi pitched 6.1 innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs and the Rangers got home run help from Mitch Garver and Jonah Heim who hit for a home run early in the game and it was Adolis Garcia who hit a ninth inning grand slam to put it out of reach.

#4 The Rangers are going with Mad Max in game 7 Max Scherzer. Scherzer pitched game 7 in the 2019 World Series so he know about pitching in big games like the one tonight.

#5 The San Diego Padres granted permission to manager Bob Melvin to interview for the vacant San Francisco Giants managing job. Melvin was assured to have his Padres job but asked Padres management about interviewing for the Giants job which was granted. Melvin is considered to be the top contender to win the job as the new Giants manager.

On the MLB Post Season podcast with Augie:

#1 Augie, how surprising has it got to be for the Houston Astros and Dusty Baker to be down 0-2. The Astros are the experienced post season team in the post season.

#2 Talk about the Rangers manager Bruce Bochy. You knew him for years in San Francisco and with the Rangers he hasn’t lost his touch he’s got the Rangers just two games away from winning the American League title.

#3 The Arizona Diamondbacks and Philadelphia Phillies both surprised everyone when they each beat their opponents in the best 3 of 5 series. The Diamondbacks came into Championship an underdog and who beat the Los Angeles Dodgers to get there and the Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves to get into the NLCS.

#4 Former Oakland A’s pitcher Trevor May who announced his retirement on Monday didn’t hold back about his former owner John Fisher and would like to see the sale of the team saying, “Sell the team, dude,” May said. “.Sell it, man. Let someone who actually, like, takes pride in the things they own own something. There’s actually people who give a s— about the game. Let them do it. Take mommy and daddy’s money somewhere else, dork.”

#5 San Francisco Giants are interviewing Alyssa Nakken for manager of the Giants. If Nakken was to get hired she would become the first female manager in MLB history. Nakken was the first woman coach in MLB history as she was hired by former Giants manager Gabe Kapler. The Giants have also interviewed coaches Kia Correa and Mark Hallberg.
