On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 Barbara, the Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry just unloaded with 50 points and was probably the saving grace for Golden State in their 120-100 win in Sacramento on Sunday afternoon in game 7 of the first round.

#2 Barbara talk about the fourth quarter shut down of the Sacramento Kings offense where the Warriors defense stepped up and the Kings only scored 19 points and were far from catching the Warriors.

#3 The Kings had a better first half than the Warriors scoring 31 in the first quarter and 27 in the second quarter did it appear from all indications that they looked like they would be off to having another successful chance against the champs.

#4 Barbara, When Curry got hot did the Kings try and double team him, try to shut down his three pointers and if they did Curry didn’t have much room for error and made all his throws count.

#5 The Warriors open games one and two at Golden State against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers LeBron James has carried the Lakers on his back in the past will that be the case for him going into this series against the Warriors?

Golden State Warriors game wrap: Warriors crush Kings in fourth quarter for 120-100 win; Sets up a Curry vs. James series

The stage was set and there was no doubt this game would be crammed with some electric plays as the Golden State Warriors (4-3) came back from their game six loss to defeat the Sacramento Kings (3-4) at Golden One Center in a winner take all game seven 120-100.

The Warriors had a less than stellar game six and there was some changes the first of which was Draymond Green was back as a starter. Golden State had some great defense and also contained the Kings superstar De’Aaron Fox. This first round game seven matchup to remember with so much at stake for both teams. The Warriors also had to deal with the thunderous crowd that packed the arena Sunday afternoon.

Game 7 recap: The Warriors got on the board first as this game got underway. The Kings got a quick start but the Warriors wasted no time catching up. They hit some wide open threes and led mid-way through the first 12 minutes 18-12. The Warriors led for most of the opening quarter but it was the Kings that led when the first quarter came to an end 31-30. It was a high scoring electric start for both teams.

Gary Payton Jr. headed to the locker room early in the second quarter after committing three personals. Unlike the first quarter, it was the Kings that led for most of the second quarter and at the half Sacramento had a slim 58-56 lead. Gary Payton was the only player with three personal fouls on either team. This game had all the makings of a wild and tight finish.

Klay Thompson had an awful start and at the half was 1 of 10 jeopardizing this game for Golden State. He was a no show so far and needed to step it up in the second half. If De’Aaron Fox got going in the third and fourth quarters Golden State could be in for some trouble.

Thompson came to the party in the third quarter finishing with 16 points. The Warriors led by as much as 12 points in the quarter and after three led 91-81. They were awful at the line going four of 13 but managed to keep the Kings off balance. Golden State had to hold on for another 12 minutes if they wanted to advance to the Western Semifinals.

Golden State came on strong in the fourth quarter. The Kings picked the worst possible time to have a horrific second half, especially the fourth quarter. They couldn’t buy a basket and had untimely turnovers. The Warriors gut punched the Kings in the third 35-23 and they were just getting started.

Golden State dominated the fourth quarter and Stephen Curry made some crazy unbelievable circus shots in this game. He became the all-time leader outscoring Kevin Durant in a game seven in the playoffs. He finished with 50 points in this game.

Kevon Looney had so much to do with this win. He finished with 21 rebounds, the second time he came away with 21 plus in these playoffs. The bottom line in this game was the win was all about Curry. Without his performance in this game the outcome may have been different, Not a single player on the roster even scored 20 and Thompson came up empty in the fourth quarter. It was all Curry willing his team to the win.

The Kings have a lot to be proud of this season. They came out of the dark into an incredible 2022-23 season. It was a major disappointment for the Kings and it will take some time to realize how amazing they really were this year. They deserve a lot of credit and no doubt will continue on the wonderful path they are currently on.

This team has an abundance of character and the Kings will no doubt go up from here after so many accolades celebrated this season. Mike Brown Coach of the Year, Fox Clutch Player of the year, Keegan Murray most three’s by a rookie in a season besides being the number one offense indicates that there is nowhere but up for Sacramento to go.

Now we will all get to see two all-time greats clash in the Western Semi-finals. Curry versus LeBron James; it doesn’t get any better than that. This will be a clash to two Titans that may well go down in history. That series will get underway on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 The Warriors had a terrific home stand and tested their road legs after struggling defensively all season on the road. Sunday’s performance didn’t enhance their road record dropping the contest to the Lakers 113-105.

#2 Golden State will welcomed Stephen Curry back while still awaiting the return of Andrew Wiggins. The Lakers were without LeBron James who suffered a right foot tendon injury February 26 against the Dallas Mavericks and will more than likely be lost to the team for much of this month.

#3 The final quarter of this game was tight and was tied with 5:16 left in regulation 91-91. Golden State had some opportunities but suffered far too many empty possessions which was making a huge difference in this game. 

#4 The crazy road losses continue and this team needs to figure this out with a lot of games coming up away from Chase and time running out on the season.

#5 Tuesday night the Warriors will take on the Thunder in Oklahoma City. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM. Another road game do you find it that the Warriors can struggle in OKC too?

Warriors Road Woes Continue Losing To Lakers 113-105

Coming off a five-game winning streak, the Golden State Warriors (34-30) took on the Los Angeles Lakers (30-34) at crypto.com Arena. The Warriors had a terrific home stand and tested their road legs after struggling defensively all season on the road. Sunday’s performance didn’t enhance their road record dropping the contest to the Lakers 113-105.

Golden State welcomed Stephen Curry back while still awaiting the return of Andrew Wiggins. The Lakers were without LeBron James who suffered a right foot tendon injury February 26 against the Dallas Mavericks and will more than likely be lost to the team for much of this month.

The first quarter was all Lakers and next to nothing for the Warriors. The Lakers Anthony Davis had a terrific start in this game with 19 points. The Warriors offense was struggling with the only points from the starting five coming from Klay Thompson with nine and off the bench Jonathan Kuminga and JaMychal Green with eight points collectively. The Warriors had four turnovers in the quarter, three of them from traveling. The Lakers led 33-18 after the first 12 minutes crushing Golden State. Curry, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and Donte DiVincenzo all came up empty.

After trailing by as much as 20 points in the first quarter, the Warriors started to come around. They had trimmed the Laker lead to six points in the opening minutes of the second quarter 35-29.

The Warriors kept chipping away, and at 5:34 left in the first half had pulled to within one point 41-40. The Lakers went on a run extending their lead to ten points but the Warriors fought back and trailed 55-54 at the half. Golden State had an exceptional second quarter winning it 36-22.

Curry hit his first shots of the game in the second quarter finishing with eight points. Klay Thompson had 15 points in the first half and Jordan Poole had ten points off the bench. The Warriors had all the momentum going in this game as they headed into the third quarter.

The Warriors fell off a bit losing much of the momentum they had garnered in the second quarter. The Lakers won the quarter 23-18 and led going into the fourth 78-72.

The final quarter of this game was tight and was tied with 5:16 left in regulation 91-91. Golden State had some opportunities but suffered far too many empty possessions which was making a huge difference in this game. With two minutes left in the game two points separated the two teams 103-101. With 48.9 left on the clock Anthony Davis orchestrated the final blow with a 5-foot jump shot to give the Lakers a 109-101.

The slow start in this game for Golden State was one of the deciding factors in this loss. Empty possessions also hurt the team. Despite a quiet first quarter, Curry really picked it up finishing with 27 points. Thompson had 22 points. The crazy road losses continue and this team needs to figure this out with a lot of games coming up away from Chase and time running out on the season.

The terrific game from the Lakers Davis was a huge factor in this Los Angeles win as they fight to even make the playoffs. He had 39 points and was unstoppable helping his team win despite the absence of LeBron and D’Angelo Russell.

Tuesday night the Warriors will take on the Thunder in Oklahoma City. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

#1 Golden State needed to turn their defense around, protect the ball and make the most of every possession tried as they may the Lakers came away with a 124-111 win against Golden State at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Lakers Bulldoze Warriors 124-111

Lakers Bulldoze Warriors 124-111

Thursday night the Golden State Warriors (29-30) took on the Los Angeles Lakers (28-32) at Crypto. com Arena. With only 24 games left in the regular season, this was a must win for the Warriors as is every game going forward. Golden State needed to turn their defense around, protect the ball and make the most of every possession tried as they may the Lakers came away with a 124-111 win against Golden State at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The team will still be without Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins will also be out for personal reasons with no return date right now.

After the first 12 minutes, the Warriors were trailing 31-23. While Golden State did not get the hot start that they were looking for, they did get a decent start. They needed to be better in transition and protect the ball.

WIth 4:36 left in the second quarter the Lakers took a 51-38 lead, their largest of the game. The Warriors were having trouble getting clean looks. The Laker defense was on point forcing Golden State to take some ill-advised shots. The Warriors played their best basketball in the final two minutes of the half.

They trailed 59-56 after having trailed by fourteen points in the quarter. Jordan Poole who had a slow start hit a couple of three’s in the later minutes of the second quarter and finished the half with 15 points, the high score for the Warriors.

The Lakers quickly extended the three point lead they had at the half. They were destroying the Warriors in transition and with 6:47 left in the third quarter had their largest lead of the game 79-63. Despite a very quiet night for LeBron James the Lakers led after three quarters 95-80.

The Lakers continued to build on their lead in the fourth quarter and with ten minutes left in the game had a 20 point lead 102-82. The Warriors could not buy a basket in this final quarter and the Lakers continued to pound Golden State. The Warriors had trailed by 28 and had cut the deficit in half but it was too little too late.

Klay Thompson had the high score for the Warriors with 22 points and off the bench Ty Jerome finished with 20 points. Once again the Warriors defense fell short. Los Angeles outplayed them offensively and defensively.

The high score for the Lakers was Malik Beasley with 25 points. The Los Angeles bench had a great night with 68 points collectively.

After dropping their first game after the All-Star game, the Warriors now have a chance to grab some wins playing their next five game at Chase Center. Friday night the Warriors will take on the Houston Rockets in the first game of this homestand. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

#1 Jerry, first of all as you know Andrew Wiggins was out of the line up for their last game just before the All Star break on Tue Feb 14 vs. the Los Angeles Clippers a game the Warriors lost by ten 134-124.

#2 Wiggins has been listed out of the line up because of undisclosed personal reasons. As to how long Wiggins will be out of the line up the Warriors don’t even know yet.

#3 Jerry what dimension does Wiggins bring to the Warriors game and how will head coach Steve Kerr compensate for his absence?

#4 Wiggins has missed 21 games this season and a bulk of those come in December and that was a month that Stephen Curry missed a good number of games and now both are out starting the second half of the season.

#5 The Warriors host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The Warriors have lost five of their last ten games and the Lakers have lost four of their last ten games. How do you see this battle tonight?

#1 Tuesday night the Golden State Warriors (29-29) took on the Los Angeles Clippers (32-28) at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and couldn’t hold on getting beat by ten points 134-124. 

#2 The Clippers took an early lead in the opening quarter 31-23. Los Angeles kept pushing taking a ten-point lead before the Warriors began to turn things around.

#3 They won the second quarter 42-30 and had four players in double digits, Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga and Anthony Lamb all had scored 11 points. Donte DiVincenzo had ten points and the tide of this game had turned in the second quarter. 

#4 The Warriors offense went cold in the fourth quarter. Golden State ran into a fully loaded Clipper team and suffered their 29th loss of the season 134-124.

#5 Next game for the Warriors Thu Feb 23 at Crypto Arena in Los Angeles against the Los Angeles Lakers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

#1 Tuesday night the Golden State Warriors (29-29) took on the Los Angeles Clippers (32-28) at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and couldn’t hold on getting beat by ten points 134-124. 

#2 Dave, you saw Kevin Durant get traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Phoenix Suns who are in the same division as the Warriors. When Durant was available not that the Warriors would acquire him wouldn’t somebody like that be a big help to Golden State at the juncture.

#3 Next game for the Warriors will take on the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena on Thu Feb 23. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00. PM. Warriors were defeated in their last meeting with the Lakers 109-103 Sat Feb 11 at Chase Center.

#1 The new-look Los Angles Lakers (26-31), playing without LeBron James, who was out with a sore foot, won the game in crunch time to down the Golden State Warriors (28-28), 109-103.

#2 The Lakers acquired guard D’Angelo Russell from Minnesota on Thursday. The Lakers also added Jarred Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura to their lineup. The Warriors’ Stephen Curry is out with a knee injury, and the team will re-evaluate his status after the All-Star break. 

#3 The Warriors were hoping to atone for their loss in crunch time to the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night.

#4  The Lakers scored to lead 107-101.Donte Di Vincenzo made a two-pointer to trail 107-103. The Warriors needed a miracle to win the game, and the miracle didn’t happen.

#5 The Warriors host the Washington Wizards at the Chase Center Monday night. The game will start at 7 pm.
