That’s Amaury News and Commentary podcast:

#1  Monday night Cleveland Guardian pitcher Slade Cecconi went into the eighth inning against the Kansas City Royals pitching a no hitter but Royals lead off hitter Michael Massey hit a lead off single and broke up Cecconi’s no hit bit which could have been the first one of the season. It also would have ended Cleveland’s four decade long wait for a no hitter but the wait continues.

#2 Philadelphia Phillies Trea Turner who is out with a strained hamstring for the rest of the season is expected back for post season in October. Phils manager Rob Thomson that Turner’s MRI results are better than expected and that the strain is not as bad as expected. Turner is in the third year of his 11 year $300 million contract.

#3 Milwaukee Brewers Christian Yelich is back in the line up on Monday night after he was scratched out of the line up and missed five game due to lower back pain. #4 The Los Angeles Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe is on the seven day concussion IL after getting hit in the head by the Sacramento A’s Jacob Wilson’s backswing. The Angels Jo Adell was out of the line up due vertigo. O’Hoppe was removed after being hit in the head in Sunday’s game.

#5 Times are getting rough for the A’s after taking the first two games from the Angels on Friday and Saturday and then turning around and losing to the Angels on Sunday and getting crushed by the Boston Red Sox on Monday night 7-0 at Sutter Health Park. The hopes of getting out of the cellar are dimming for Sacramento.

#3 The A’s have placed shortstop Jacob Wilson on the ten day IL on Tuesday and this is retroactive through Saturday. Wilson fractured his forearm and A’s manager Mark Kotsay said the A’s are optimistic that Wilson will return some time this season but it’s doubtful he’ll be back before the ten days are up.

That’s Amaury News and Commentary podcast:

#1 In speaking with other reporters Amaury the aftermath of the Rob Manfred-Bryce Harper F bomb tirade is considered the first volley as the Players Union and the Commissioner’s office teed off in the clubhouse in Philadelphia as the CBA expires at the end of the next year with a chance that the 2027 season could be locked out.

#2 Ronald Acuna Jr the Atlanta Braves outfielder had to leave Tuesday night’s game against the Kansas City Royals due to tightness in his right Achilles tendon. Acuna was put on the 10 day injured list on Wednesday morning. Aucna was chasing a ball in right field and felt tightness in the Achilles. The Braves medical staff will be checking Acuna Wednesday before their game.

#3 As New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge is out with an arm injury the Yankees traded for outfielder Austin Slater from the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The Yankees are trying to strengthen their line up without Judge and might make some more moves before Thursday’s trade deadline. The Sox got minor league pitcher Gage Ziehl for Slater.

#4 Amaury the San Francisco Giants are on a five game losing streak, they have the worst record in baseball since July 9 at 3-12 (.250). People on the talk shows and the sports writers are asking questions. One of those has been is there any difference from the way the club is being ran since former Giants president Farhan Zaidi left to the it’s being ran with team president Buster Posey or it’s neither one of their faults and the buck stops with team CEO Larry Baer who signs off on who comes and goes?

#5 The Sacramento A’s after sweeping the Houston Astros in four games in Houston have won five of their last six games. The A’s are going well getting hitting from their big boppers Brent Rooker, Lawrence Butler, Nick Kurtz, and Jacob Wilson. They’ve also been getting some great pitching from their starters JP Sears, JT Gin, Jacob Lopez and Luis Severino.

Sacramento A’s podcast Lincoln Juarez:

1. The A’s are currently 16.5 games back of the first place Astros with a first half that didn’t go as planned, how do the A’s approach the second half of the season

2.All-Star recap: Jacob Wilson was the first A’s player to start in the All-Star game since Josh Donaldson in 2014. Brent Rooker got eliminated by less than an inch in Monday night’s Home-Run Derby.

    3. JP Sears surrendered six earned runs in Cleveland Friday night in just four innings of work. Coming off a loss and no-decision he sits at 7-8 with a 5.13 ERA. If the A’s were to make any sort of run, they need him to be better. What can he do to get more consistent results?

    4. How do the A’s approach the July 31 trade deadline? Rooker to the Giants? Where does Luis Severino play after July 31?

    5. Looking at the week ahead, after three games in Cleveland the A’s play three in Arlington against the Rangers and four in Houston against the first place Astros. What can the A’s expect from them against division rivals and teams ahead of them in the division standings?

Sacramento A’s podcast Michael Roberson: A’s Rooker and Wilson did well during All Star week

On the Sacramento A’s podcast Michael Roberson:

#1 Michael, the A’s Brent Rooker had himself an All Star week we’ll start with the home run derby last Monday where Rooker tied with the Seattle Mariners Cal Raleigh only to lose to Raleigh on a “Measure off” Raleigh’s last home run defeated Rooker by one inch to win the derby.

#2 Rooker also got a left center field three run home run off of San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Randy Rodriguez in the bottom of the seventh inning.

#3 Further there was talk this week that the Giants could be interested in obtaining Rooker before this month’s trade deadline. Rooker is signed with the A’s through the 2029 season on a five year deal worth $60 million which includes a $22 million option for 2030.

#4 The A’s Jacob Wilson scored a run, had one hit for two RBIs so the A’s Rooker and Wilson showed up for this All Star Game and represented the A’s well.

#5 The A’s open the second half of the 2025 season this Friday in Cleveland for a three game set. Starting pitcher for the A’s LHP JP Sears (7-7 ERA 4.79) for the Guardians RHP Slade Cecconi (4-4 ERA 3.44) first pitch at 4:10pm PT at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

That’s Amaury News and Commentary podcast: Big names come up as teams pursue Bucs Skenes; Yanks Chisholm moves back to second; plus more MLB news

Teams like the Atlanta Braves and the Minnesota Twins might pursue Pittsburgh Pirates Paul Skenes during the July trade deadlines (AP file photo)

That’s Amaury News and Commentary podcast:

#1 Here’s a crazy potential trade that was brought up on ESPN today the Atlanta Braves Ronald Acuna Jr for the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes or Skenes for the Minnesota Twins Byron Buxton as the baseball trade deadline heats up here in July.

#2 New York Yankees All Star Jazz Chisholm Jr after starting 28 games in a row at third base will be returning to his second base position. Yanks manager Aaron Boone said. Chisholm is hitting .245, 45 homers, 38 RBIs with ten steals in 59 games. Chisholm had been suffering right shoulder soreness which is one of the reasons for moving back to second base.

#3 San Diego Padres Manny Machado picked up his 2,000th career hit on Monday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks hitting a bullet off the glove of the D-Backs shortstop Geraldo Perdomo. Machado got the hit off pitcher Zac Gallen in the fourth inning and got a standing ovation from the Petco Park fans.

#4 Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman whose been out since May 24th with a strained right quad believes he can skip the minor league rehab session and get right back into the show and in the line up joining the Sox just before the All Star break. His return could happen as soon as the end of this week.

#5 The last time an Sacramento Athletics shortstop started an All Star Game you’d have to go back to 1975 when Bert Campaneris started at that All Star Classic. Jacob Wilson was voted the starting shortstop for the 2025 All Star game representing the A’s in Atlanta on Wed Jul 15th. Wilson has had himself a season hitting .331, nine home runs, 111 hits, and 42 RBIs.

Headline Sports with Charlie O: Dodgers might trade to make up for injuries; Jays Bichette on 10 day IL; plus more news

Mookie Betts who is suffering from a hand injury is expected back by Aug 2. Betts and whole list of key Dodgers players are on the IL and the Dodgers are considering making trades to make up for the holes in their line up. (AP file photo)

On Headline Sports with Charlie O:

#1 The Los Angeles Dodgers who got swept by the Philadelphia Phillies and lost two out of three to the Detroit Tigers are looking at ways to back in this thing again. They might be consider making some trades and looking for some help as they have some key players on the IL, Mookie Bets, Clayton Kershaw, Jason Heyward, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Dustin May just to name a few.

#2 The Toronto Blue Jays Bo Bichette is on the ten day IL with a left calf injury. Bichette injured his calf running up the first base line after hitting a line out to right field. How does this effect the Jays missing a bat like Bichette’s.

#3 The Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz was put on the restricted list because of personal family issues. The Rays ended up calling infielder Curtis Mead from the Rays triple A team in Durham.

#4 It’s a Major League debut to be remembered by the Oakland A’s Jacob Wilson but for all the wrong reasons. On Friday night Wilson rounding third base after advancing from second pulled up injured and in the dugout just couldn’t get back on track and had to leave the ball game.

#5 The Las Vegas Stadium Authority hosted a meeting on Thursday with Oakland A’s owner John Fisher’s business partner Sandy Dean at the Las Vegas Convention Center to discuss the plans for the new Las Vegas ballpark on the Vegas Strip. Dean told the Stadium Authority with Authority president Steven Hill on the dais that the A’s plan to spend $350 million of the $380 million of the public money. Neither Hill nor Dean disclosed where or how Fisher will come up with his share of the $500 million towards construction costs will come from. Last report was Fisher was looking for investors to help come up with the costs but still crickets on that as well.
