Warriors Lose A Stunner to Mavericks 107-101; Golden State drops fourth out of seven games

Sunday the Golden State Warriors (43-18) took on the Dallas Mavericks (36-25) in a late afternoon game. The Warriors will be playing without Klay Thompson in the starting roster. Besides Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney, Gary Payton II and Moses Moody will round out the starters.

The keys to this game will as always be protecting the ball limiting the turnovers and most of all containing big man for the Mavericks Luca Doncic.

Golden State could not have started out this game any better with some great offensive and defensive work. After nine minutes there were no turnovers for the Warriors and they led by the score of 30-14. It was the best first quarter start the Warriors could have hoped for. Doncic was visibly frustrated and that’s exactly where you want to keep this guy.

As the first quarter came to an end the Warriors held a 37-24 lead. They had 10 assists and a single turnover. Wiggins had a great start with 11 points and Dallas’ Doncic had 10 points.

Golden State started the second quarter with a couple of forced runners on a team that is very stingy in that department. At half-time the Warriors held a 60-48 lead. They were doing a great job containing Doncic.

He had six turnovers, one assist and only three rebounds. He finished the first half with 12 points and also had a technical foul so the Warriors continued to frustrate Doncic.

The Warriors had an amazing first half with 30 points in the paint. Wiggins had 11 points and had Doncic right where he wanted him. It had been a great offensive and defensive effort in the first half for Golden State.

The Warriors continued to pile on the points in the third quarter leading 70-52 in the early minutes. The Mavericks had trimmed a 21 points deficit to single digits before the Warriors took back control of this game. After three Golden State led 88-74. Doncic had nine turnovers in this game which tied his career high.

The fourth quarter got uncomfortably close when Dallas got within three points trailing 93-90. The lead that Golden State had enjoyed had vanished and all the momentum was on the side of the Mavericks. There were 16 unanswered points for the Mavericks and Golden State had to pull it all together in the final six minutes as the Warriors went over six minutes without a field goal.

Dallas was coming up with some incredible defense. With 3.25 left in the game Dallas took their first lead. A real disaster was brewing after three amazing quarters for the Warriors. The Dallas Mavericks would pull this game out 107-101.

This was a horrible loss for the Warriors especially with the way that the team started this game off. It was the six minute drought that finished off Golden State. It was a fourth quarter that you do not want to ever repeat again. Dallas outscored the Warriors in the fourth quarter 33-13 in a stunner.

Curry had 33 points and Wiggins finished with 18. The missed points at the line was a huge factor for the Warriors. Luca Doncic had a 34 point night as the Mavericks walked away with this win.

The Warriors now will go on the road taking on the Timberwolves Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

1.  The All Star comes at just the right time for a struggling Warrior team.

2.  Juan Tuscano-Anderson and Jonathan Kuminga all took part in this weekends All-Star game.

3.  Andrew Wiggins had a bit of a slow start but it was a great honor to be included in this years AllStar game.

4. As often happens when Stephen Curry steps on the court he took over this All-Star game.

5.  Next up for the Warriors this Thursday will be the Portland Trail Blazers.

#1 Barbara, the Minnesota Timberwolves Karl Anthony-Towns was the key difference in the Timberwolves win over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night at the Target Center 119-99 scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds.

#2 The Timberwolves Jaylen Nowell (17 pts) and Malik Beasley had (16 pts) both combined for five three pointers in the second half also making a big difference in beating Golden State.

#3 The Warriors allowed the Timberwolves to score 40-19 against them in the closing 16 minutes of the game and the defense simply looked out of place compared to other games where the Warriors had success.

#4 The Warriors who were without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green really depended on Jordan Poole (20 pts) and Jonathan Kuminga (19 pts) the Warriors dropped their fifth game out seven on Sunday.

#5 The Warriors trail the Phoenix Suns by 2 1/2 games in the Western Conference, Klay Thompson had 13 points on Sunday how much will the Warriors be leaning on Thompson on night when Curry and Green are out of the line up like they were Sunday?

Warriors beat Pacers in final seconds 102-100

Warriors Beat Pacers In The Final Seconds 102-100

Stephen Curry finished 5 of 15 from downtown against the Pacers and so now the magic number to tie is one and two to break Ray Allen’s record. He finished the game with 26 points.

Going into tonights game we were not sure if we would be seeing Curry taking the court. As it turned out in the Golden State Warriors (22-5) Indiana Pacers (12-17) game we did see Curry take the court. The Pacers are looking for their fourth home game win tonight and of course all eyes are on Curry whose magic number before the game stood at 7. The Warriors who came off only their fifth loss this season in Philadelphia on Saturday just got by the Pacers 102-100 on Monday night.

The Warriors had a horrible first half missing shots and 11 turnovers also hurt them. They were shooting 38 percent in the first two quarters. They trailed after the first quarter 29-25 and continued to trail 55-47 at the half. They had to protect the ball and start making some of those open shots.

The third quarter was a better one for Golden State tying the game at 67 with four minutes left in the quarter. The Pacers however refused to back down and shot eight unanswered points going back out in front 75-67. At times the Warriors were capitalizing on all the attention that Curry was getting. The Warriors were close but still trailing 84-80 at the end of the third quarter. The turnovers were improved with only four in the second half.

It seems that the closer that Curry gets to breaking this record; the team has looked different. It’s hard to pinpoint but something has been off the past few games. The Warriors continued to trail in the fourth quarter of this game and the fouls were beginning to pile up. With under five minutes left in the game the pace really picked up in this game. Points off turnovers had really hurt the Warriors the entire game.

With 48 ticks left on the clock the score was tied at 100. Kevon Looney had the offensive rebound and basket of the game to take the lead 102-100 with 13 seconds left. A Pacer turnover was the difference in this game. The Warriors didn’t have the greatest game at all but managed to pull this one out 102-100. It was ugly at times, tough and gritty but Golden State bounced back in this game.

I knew I would have to attack the rim in order to open everything up,” said Draymond Green after the game. “We had too many turnovers and too many fouls. On offense we have to know where we have to be,” he said. Green had a great game with 15 points and 9 rebounds.

The Warriors will be taking on the Knicks tomorrow at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 PM. There is little doubt that we will see records shattered in this game.

#1 The Golden State Warriors (15-2) got twice the help on Sunday night at the Chase Center against the visiting Toronto Raptors (8-10) with Jordan Poole 33 points and Andrew Wiggins finishing right behind with 32 points.

#2 For Poole it was his second straight game scoring 30 points his offensive prowess has not failed him and it seems like he’s finding the splash in his shots as each game goes on.

#3 Poole was like a machine beyond the arch hitting eight three pointers and going 10 for 13 on shot attempts.

#4 Poole is the first Warrior besides Stephen Curry to have consecutive 30 point games since D’Angelo Russell did for three in a row it back in Dec 29, 2019 to Jan 12, 2020.

#5 The Warriors host the Philadelphia 76ers (9-8) Wed Nov 24, 2021 at Chase Center the Sixers have struggled they have lost six of their last seven games. They lost in Portland 118-111 on Saturday night. Barbara how do you see these two teams matching up.

#1 Barbara taking a look at the Golden State Warriors roster for the 2021-22 season the total cost on just players was $334 million.

#2 Barbara in the final pre season game Stephen Curry showed off his handy work scoring 41 points looks like he’s picked up where he left off from last season.

#3 The Warriors have rolled to a perfect record in pre season play, was this by design that other teams didn’t want to show their strengths before the regular season starts or the Warriors are really that good.

#4 Andrew Wiggins sat because of a knee injury and head coach Steve Kerr that Wiggins is not quite where he wants to be that kept him out for a couple days worth of practice.

Golden State Warriors podcast with Barbara Mason: Langston the latest to receive waivers from Warriors; Wiseman to return against Portland Friday

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Langston Galloway who was averaging 3.3 points per pre season game. Langston wasn’t providing enough offense to the Warriors liking and was cut from the team.

#2 Langston also had a low average of rebounds with 3.7 and assists 1.7 although he had very limited time to try and prove himself averaging 8.8 minutes a game.

#3 Klay Thompson showed he still had game after coming off two seasons of injuries with a pair of mighty one handed throw downs in practice at the Warriors facility. Thompson is expected to take the next two pre season games this Tuesday and Friday off before seeing action in the first regular season game.

#4 Barbara, from what you’ve seen how ready for the regular season is Thompson we know it’s been two seasons and that last NBA Finals vs. Toronto since Thompson has played a complete game.

#5 Last April 15th center James Wiseman underwent surgery for a right meniscal tear the Warriors report that Wiseman is making progress during rehab and soon will be taking shooting practice and other on court plays. Wiseman will be observed and it’s to be determined when he will return.

On the Warriors podcast with Barbara:

#1 It’s hard to believe after two long years of various injuries for Golden State Warrior Klay Thompson in 2019 the ACL tear and in 2020 the ruptured Achilles.

#2 It’s been a long road to recovery but although it’s just an exhibition game on Monday in Portland Thompson has to be happy to be back and although .

#3 You have to go all the way back to the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors which Thompson and the Warriors lost. Thompson said his goal is to get back to that level of play after the last two years off.

#4 How important is it for Stephen Curry to get his splash brother back and will they be able to rekindle that old magic again or will the key word be old after two years of not playing together as there might have been some aging process since Thompson’s return?

#5 Thompson said once he gets back out on the floor tonight he wants to be an effective player and a player that can execute will it take some time to get adjusted or know the kind of player Thompson is he’ll be firing on all cylinders right away?
