#1 The Sacramento Kings are on a roll they have a five game win streak going and their last win over the Miami Heat Monday night 123-118 kept that streak going.

#2 DeMar DeRozan scored 11 points in the double overtime stanza to keep the Kings in it. DeRozan displayed some of the reasons why the Kings got him to come to Sacramento.

#3 DeRozan finished the contest with 30 points and went 12 for 26 from the floor. Domantas Sabonis racked up 21 points with 18 rebounds and 11 assists. The Kings won their second straight game without De’Aaron Fox in the line up.

#4 Lots of trade rumors regarding De’Aaron Fox whose been a key scorer in the Kings line up. The Kings are rolling will they hang onto Fox or look to get some more offense in trading him?

#5 The Kings face their toughest challenge during this winning streak they have going tonight against the Boston Celtics who are second in the Eastern Conference. The Celts have six of their last ten games, they handled a tough Denver Nuggets team in their last game 118-108 in Denver. Will the Celtics be a handful for the Kings tonight at Waterhouse Garden?

Kings beat the Heat 123-118 in double OT for fifth straight win; Christie has turned Sac’s tide as head coach

The Sacramento Kings were back in action on Monday night, coming into the game with strong momentum, riding a four-game winning streak. The Kings were on the second night of a back-to-back after defeating the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, 129-99.

On the other hand, the Miami Heat entered the game as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 17-16 record. This week, the Heat had been dealing with the Jimmy Butler drama, an undoubtedly unwelcome distraction for the team.

Jimmy Butler was suspended last week by Heat President Pat Riley for conduct detrimental to the team. The Kings and Heat tipped off at 7 PM PST inside the Golden 1 Center. The Kings defeated the Heat 123-118 on Monday night.

In other news, the newly relocated Oakland Athletics were in attendance at the game on Monday night. A’s manager Mark Kotsay, along with players Brent Rooker, JJ Bleday, JP Sears, and Lawrence Butler, were all courtside for the affair.

In the first half, neither the Kings nor the Heat seemed to find their rhythm. Both teams struggled to establish a comfort zone on the offensive end of the floor. The Heat shot 40.5% from the field and 31.3% from beyond the arc, scoring 47 points in the first half.

On the other hand, the Kings committed eight turnovers, resulting in 11 points for the Heat. The Kings shot 40.8% from the field and just 18.8% from deep, managing to score 50 points in the half and taking a narrow three-point lead, 50-47, into the break. Tyler Herro led the Heat in the first half with 17 points, while Malik Monk paced the Kings with 15.

In the second half, the Kings displayed resilience to force overtime. Despite leading at halftime, the Kings lost their edge and trailed by as many as 17 points. However, they battled back to tie the game at 102, sending it into overtime. In the first overtime period, both teams scored ten points, leading to a second overtime.

In the second extra period, the Kings outscored the Heat 11-6, powered by nine points from DeMar DeRozan, ultimately securing a 123-118 victory. DeRozan was the Kings’ leading scorer with 30 points. Tyler Herro led the Heat with 26 points but notably did not score in either overtime period.

Postgame, Doug Christie commented on the victory, stating, “Big time – these guys continue to fight in a way that I hope makes our city proud. It makes me incredibly proud.”

Up Next The Kings will travel to Boston to face the Celtics at 4:30 PM PST at the Garden.

#1 Barbara how important is it for the Sacramento Kings to get to 50 wins at a minimum for this season. The Kings last season they were 43-36.

#2 Barbara, how important is it for the Kings to get off to a fast start not by going 2-4 but winning 5-1 or 4-2.

#3 The Kings acquired DeMar Derozan from the Chicago Bulls in the off season and people questioned how he will fit in. Head coach Mike Brown said Derozan will be a huge compliment for the Kings offense this seaon.

#4 One of the advantages that the Kings have is they have so many guys returning from last season who compliment the team chemistry, this is coach Browns third year back, Domantas Sobonis, De’Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, Malik Monk to name a few.

#5 One thing about the Western Conference is that with this group the Kings could go that 4-2 and win three of five games either at home and on the road. They were an over .500 team last season finished ninth in the Western Conference can they improve their position for a better seeded spot in the battle of making post season.

#1 Long time basketball analyst and former UCLA Bruins star in 1972 and 1973 Bill Walton passed away from cancer at age 71. Walton played in the NBA for the Portland Trailblazers, San Diego Clippers, and Boston Celtics from 1974-75 to 1986-87.

#2 He help lead UCLA to two NCAA Championship titles in the 1972-73 and 1973-74 seasons. He was one of the most famous Bruins of all time along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

#3 Walton is a charter member of the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame and is also a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 after playing in the NBA from 1974-75 to 1986-87.

#4 Former Philadelphia 76er Dr. J Julius Erving said of the passing of Walton, “I am sad today hearing that my comrade and one of the sports world’s most beloved champions and characters has passed,” Erving wrote on social media. “Bill Walton enjoyed life in every way. To compete against him and to work with him was a blessing in my life.”

#5 When you look at how carefree and how much fun it was to be around a guy like Bill Walton who after retiring from the NBA became a broadcaster and added more joy to the game as much as when he played the game it’s no wonder why everyone loved being around Bill Walton.

#1 NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly presented the flip card revealing the number one draft pick and the San Jose Sharks who had the league’s worst record at 19-54-9. The Sharks are looking at Macklin Celebrini the first overall draft pick in the NHL draft.

#2 The Boston Celtics went through the Cleveland Cavaliers like butter on Tuesday night in Boston with a 25 point 120-95 win to take game 1 of the NBA second round playoffs. The Celtics got top scoring from Jaylen Brown with 32 points and Derrick White hit seven three pointers.

#3 The WNBA has committed for the next two seasons to spend $58 million for charter for the league travel as opposed to commercial flying. This would be full time charter flight service. With the arrival of Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever as the face of the league the WNBA plans on stepping it up and taking care of it’s players with charter flights that means no more standing in lines at the ticket counter, at security and with other passengers to board a flight. They’ll be treated truly like a professional team.

#4 The frustration of the Denver Nuggets is starting show. The Nuggets who lost the first two games of this second round of the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nuggets saw team leader Jamal Murray throw a towel and then a heat pack toward an official and ended up getting fined $100,000 and was lucky he didn’t get suspended for a game. The toss came while live action was taking place with 4:41 was remaining in the second quarter.

#5 On Tuesday the Texas Rangers didn’t hold back scoring ten runs in the top of the second inning against the Oakland A’s at the Oakland Coliseum. The Rangers 15-8 win gives them their fourth straight win and the A’s their third straight loss. The Rangers and A’s split both ends of a doubleheader with the A’s taking the front game and

#1 Tony, the Boston Celtics are one game away from putting the Miami Heat on the brink got a 14 point win on Monday night in Miami with a 108-88 win.

#2 Boston guard Derrick White led with 38 points who helped keep the Celtics well ahead of the Heat.

#3 For White he had the hot hand the ball went to him and he scored a career high 38 points, White got help by teammates Jayson Tatum 20 points 10 rebounds, Jaylen Brown with 17 points and Jrue Holliday with 11 points.

#4 Miami center Bam Adebayo led the Heat with with 25 points, 17 rebounds, and five assists. As hard as Adebayo tried he carried a lot of the weight for Miami the Heat fell 14 points short and are on the brink of elimination.

#5 Game 5 the Celtics and Heat tip off Wednesday night in Boston at 4:30pm PDT. The Heat get one more chance to avoid elimination but playing game 5 in Boston is a tall order for the Heat.

#1 The Kings (44-33) faced an even greater challenge Friday night taking on the Celtics (61-16) in Boston. The loss of Malik Monk was a blow to the Kings. He suffered an MCL sprain and was declared out for four to six weeks. Friday Monk addressed the possibility of an earlier return saying that his knee is feeling a lot better than expected.

#2 After falling behind in the fourth quarter by as much as 18 points, the Kings fought back taking a one point lead 100-99 with 11 seconds left on the clock. The Celtics took back the lead 101-100 with 7.4 seconds left in the game.

#3 The Kings fought all night to come back from 18 to close the gap to one point they got help from leading scorer DeAaron Fox with 40 points and Domantas Sabonis had 16 rebounds and 16 points.

#4 The fourth quarter the Boston defense shut the Kings scoring attack down to just 17 points. The Celtics countered with 28 points in the one point win.

#5 The Kings next up are at Barclay Center in Brooklyn Sunday for a 4:30pm PDT tip. The Nets (30-47) are 11th in the Eastern Conference and battling to move up on 10th place the Atlanta Hawks. This game could be a get in the mud fight between the Kings and Nets.
