#1 The Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vesilevskiy became the fastest goalie to reach 300th win as the Lightning defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay on Thursday night. It was the Jets second loss in 15 games.

#2 The New Jersey Devil’s Jesper Bratt’s hat trick help beat the Florida Panthers 6-2. It was Bratt’s second career hat trick. New Jersey got goals from Stefan Noesen who scored twice, Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes picked up a goal a piece in the win.

#3 The Philadelphia Flyers Matvei Michkov scored a game winning overtime goal to defeat the Ottawa Senators 5-4 in at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on Thursday. Michkov’s game winner was a sharp angle shot that went past Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark with just enough daylight to get the Flyers the win.

#4 For the New York Rangers Mika Zibanejad the nine game drought without a goal has ended as Zibanejad scored off a rebound on Adam Fox’s shot at 11:41 in the second period that tied up the game 1-1. The Rangers would add two more goals for a total of three goals in the second period that was all the scoring they would need to edge the San Jose Sharks 3-2 at Madison Square Garden.

#5 The Buffalo Sabres edged the St Louis Blues Thursday night 4-3 in overtime. Tied 3-3 in the overtime stanza the Sabres Rasmus Dahlin scored at 1:33 on a power play goal to lift Buffalo to victory. It was a back in forth game that saw the Sabres score twice in the first period to make it 2-1, the Blues came right back with two goals to take the lead 3-2, the Sabres would score in the third period to tie it and get the win in the overtime.

#1 New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox is on the long term injured list. Fox was injured on Thursday night against the Carolina Hurricanes in a 2-1 win. Fox was injured in the first period Fox collided with the Hurricanes Sebastian Aho leg on leg with 7:57 left in the period. Fox could be out from ten to 24 days. How much of impact will Fox injury have on the Rangers?

#2 In nine games the Dallas Stars 39 year old forward Joe Pavelski is lighting up the lamp like he was in the prime of his career. So far Pavelski has ten points, with four goals and six assists. On Thursday Pavelski had a goal and two assists in the Stars 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.

#3 Every hockey player has his day if not every hockey player certainly the Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart and forward Sean Courturier each player is day to day. Hart has a mid body injury he got in a 5-2 loss against the Buffalo Sabres on on Wednesday. Courturier suffered a suffered a lower body injury and ended up playing Wednesday. Courturier was called up from the AHL Leigh Valley team. Courturier was injured during the game.

#4 Chicago Blackhawks forward Taylor Hall could be back in the line up he got hurt against Florida Panthers on Saturday. Hall missed the last two games due to a left shoulder injury. Hawks head coach Luke Richardson said that Hall looked great in practice. Hall is day to day and Richardson said he wants to be cautious before putting Hall back in the line up.

#5 When the San Jose Sharks lost their last game in Washington 3-1 after having a 1-0 lead until the third period when the Capitals scored three times for their ninth loss in the row it was the goal of the Sharks to try and win at home against the visiting Vancouver Canucks. Who would have thought the Sharks would think they were in the movie “The Mighty Ducks” as Sharks goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen saw a barrage of Canucks goals six goals in all before MacKenzie Blackwood relieved him in net and gave up four goals himself. The Sharks have now lost ten straight games.

#1 The Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin is back he returned after missing practice Friday after suffering from an upper body injury. Ovechkin made it to Saturday morning’s skate and played against the New York Islanders in the afternoon. Ovechkin has not missed a game this season.

#2 The Toronto Maple Leafs Mitchell Marner and Pierre Engvall are both expected to return tonight against the St Louis Blues both missed three games due to Covid 19 protocols. The Leafs are glad to have them back in the line up Marner has 21 points and Engvall with ten points in 32 games.

#3 The Anaheim Ducks Troy Terry is a question mark for today’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Terry was out on Covid 19 protocols. The Ducks 19-14-7 second in the NHL Pacific.

#4 Aisha Visram made NHL history becoming the first woman to serve behind the bench in an NHL game as head trainer for the Los Angeles Kings. Visram got the call to serve after members of Kings staff were placed on Covid 19 protocols.

#5 Matt, the Minnesota Wild’s Kirill Kaprizov, the New York Rangers Adam Fox, and Colorado Avalanche’s Cale Makar were three of 18 first time All Star selections for Sat Feb 5th’s All Star game in Las Vegas. The trio has had themselves quite a first half.
