The San Francisco Giants looked to win two straight games against the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday night. The Giants defeated the Cardinals 11-3 at Busch Stadium. San Francisco improved to 35-32, while St. Louis dropped to 27-41.

Before the game, San Francisco wished their assistant coach, Alyssa Nakken, a Happy 33rd Birthday. Nakken’s a boundary-breaking coach who became the first woman to coach in an MLB regular season game in April 2022.

The Giants’ starting lineup featured LaMonte Wade Jr., Thairo Estrada, Joc Pederson, J.D. Davis, Michael Conforto, Mitch Haniger, Mike Yastrzemski, Patrick Bailey, Brandon Crawford, and Alex Cobb. Cobb pitched four innings and gave up five hits, two earned runs, two walks, and five strikeouts.

The first inning ended in a 2-2 tie.

The Giants got on the board in the top of the first inning. Michael Conforto doubled on a sharp fly ball to Tommy Edman. Thairo Estrada and Joc Pederson scored for a 2-0 lead.

The Cardinals tied the ballgame in the bottom of the first inning. Paul Goldschmidt singled on a ground ball to Conforto but deflected by LaMonte Wade Jr. Brenden Donovan scored to cut the Giants’ lead in half, 2-1. Dylan Carlson grounded to a force-out, and Thairo Estrada went to Brandon Crawford. Goldschmidt tied the game 2-2 as Nolan Gorman went to third base, Nolan Arenado was out at second base, and Carlson went to first base with two outs.

The Giants regained their lead in the top of the third inning, but they had to overcome some adversity. The Cardinals challenged Michael Conforto’s play for a tag play, but their call was overturned. Conforto singled on a line drive to Jordan Walker. Joc Pederson scored for a 3-2 lead as J.D. Davis was out at third base on the throw, and Walker went to Nolan Arenado with two outs.

The Giants poured in the runs in the top of the fifth inning. Casey Schmitt singled on a ground ball to Dylan Carlson. Blake Sabol scored for a 4-2 lead as Michael Conforto went to third base. Patrick Bailey singled on a line drive to Carlson. Schmitt scored to make it 5-2, as Mike Yastrzemski went to third base. Brandon Crawford was out on a sacrifice bunt as Genesis Cabrera went to Paul Goldschmidt. Yastrzemski scored to extend the Giants’ lead to 6-2 as Bailey went to second base with two outs.

The Giants extended their lead in the top of the sixth inning. Mike Yastrzemski homered on a line drive to left-center field. Michael Conforto scored for an 8-2 lead. Patrick Bailey homered on a line drive to left field to expand the lead to 9-2.

The Cardinals scored in the bottom of the eighth inning, but it was “too little, too late.” Jordan Walker doubled on a ground ball to Blake Sabol. Willson Contreras scored to cut the Giants’ lead to 9-3 as Dylan Carlson went to third base.

The Giants expanded their lead to double digits in the top of the ninth inning. Thairo Estrada singled on a soft ground ball to Tommy Edman. Brandon Crawford scored for a 10-3 lead as LaMonte Wade Jr. went to third base. Blake Sabol was out on a sacrifice fly to Dylan Carlson. Wade Jr. scored for an 11-3 lead as Thairo Estrada went to third base with one out.

The Giants and Cardinals will close their series on Wednesday, June 14, at 10:15 am Pacific.

Another Comeback Win For the Giants Beating St. Louis 4-3

By Barbara Mason

Sunday at Oracle Park in San Francisco the San Francisco Giants fans not only got a great win over the Cubs 13-3 but in the ninth inning they got to see SS Brandon Crawford take the mound allowing a single hit. Crawford pitched the final inning in the blowout win and became the only shortstop in MLB with a career 0.00 ERA.

Monday the Giants (34-32) traveled to St. Louis (27-40) and took the first game of the three game series 4-3 against the St Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Logan Webb took the mound for the Giants with a solid 3.09 ERA. Matthew Liberatore was on the hill for the Cardinals with a 6.00 ERA.

San Francisco took a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Austin Slater scored when J.D. Davis grounded out to third. There would be one more run for the Giants when Mitch Haniger doubled and Thairo Estrada scored for the Giants second run.

The Cardinals scored a couple of home runs, one in the fifth inning and one in the sixth Paul De Jong had a solo shot in the sixth and St. Louis would follow that up in the seventh with a Paul Goldschmidt two run home run to take a 3-2 lead.

In the seventh inning the Giants tied up the game 3-3. Mitch Haniger singled in Wilmer Flores. San Francisco would follow that inning with another run in the eighth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Patrick Bailey scored on a Brandon Crawford single.

Going into the bottom of the ninth, the Giants were three outs away from the win. They got two quick outs on a double play. Tommy Edman walked and the Cardinals were hanging on looking for a walk off. Brendan Donovan was hit by a pitch and the Cardinals had two on and two out. It was a nervous finish for the Giants but San Francisco got the job done.

Logan Webb went seven innings allowing seven hits and three runs. He had six strikeouts.

Tuesday’s game two is scheduled to start at 4:45 PM. Alex Cobb will take the mound with an impressive 5-2 win/loss record and a 3.01 ERA. Jack Flaherty will be on the hill for the Cardinals with a 3-4 win/loss record and a 4.15 ERA.

Cubs Lose Battle 13-3, but Win War/Series (2-1) at Oracle Park

The Chicago Cubs didn’t get too many opportunities to touch home plate against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Sun Jun 11, 2023 (@Cubs photo)

.SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.– The Chicago Cubs were not able to sweep the weekend series versus the San Francisco Giants, as they were too small for the Oracle Park large inhabitants, 13-3 on a nice Sunday by the Bay.

The Giants were serious about avoiding the sweep early, when Designated Hitter Joc Pederson belted the first of two home runs, on a two-run bomb in the bottom of the first inning. 2-0 SF after one.

The Baby bears from the Windy City managed to get a run in the top of the second when Giants shortstop Casey Schmitt committed two errors on a ball hit by Cubs center fielder Mike Tauchman. Catcher Yan Gomes knocked in the tying run in the top frame of the third inning on a fielder’s choice play.

In the middle of the third, 2-2. Pederson was at it again in the bottom of the third, with his second two-run Jack of the game; this one splashed into McCovey Cove (101) and put the home team up 4-2, after three.

San Francisco added to the tally the next couple of innings: Catcher Blake singled in first baseman Wilmer Flores in the bottom of the fourth, right fielder Michael Conforto knocked in two Giants in the fifth inning on a single to center field, and Sabol also contributed another rbi. After five, Giants 8, Cubs 2.

Chicago managed to scratch in one more run in the sixth, as Nico Hoerner hit into a fielder’s choice scenario, scoring their final run.

The Giants were not finished scoring, as they tacked on five more in the sixth and seventh innings.

Second baseman Thairo Estrada hit a solo homer in the sixth frame, while Flores added a sacrifice fly rbi in the same frame. Estrada belted his second round-tripper in the seventh with a three-run blast, giving them a whopping ten run lead after seven, 13-3.

That was all the Giants needed, because the Cubs could not muster up any more the last two innings, and take the win of the series, but a gigantic loss of the game.

The Cubs have the day off Monday, June 12, but will host the Pirates of Pittsburgh in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, Tuesday June 13.

SAN FRANCISCO–Still smarting from their two consecutive losses to the visiting Chicago Cubs, the Giants, hoping to avoid a sweep of this three game series, once again sent John Brebbia (2-2, 4.72), who threw two perfect innings in yesterday’s contest, to the mound as their opener.

Today, he hurled one scoreless, but not untroubled, inning. He was followed by Tristan Beck in the second, Ryan Walker in the fourth, Luke Jackson in the seventh, Taylor Rogers in the eighth, and Brandon Crawford, of all people!, in the ninth. The Giants won the game handily, 13-3, but it was not a pretty sight.

Chicago entrusted mound duties to right hander Hayden Wesneski, technically a rookie although he went 3-2, 2.18 for them in 2022. He came to work today with a record of 2-2, 4.72 and lasted just 3+ innings, during which he surrendered five runs, all earned but one posthumous, on four hits, two of them yard, and a walk. He struck out four Giants. He threw 59 pitches, 35 for strikes, and was charged with the loss, leaving him 2-2, 5.33 for the year.

The visitors made it clear that Brebbia wasn’t going to keep them off the base paths for two frames today. Mike Tauchman sent his second pitch against the wall in the right, just to the right of the State Farm advertisement, for a two base hit. But The Curse of the Leadoff Double came to Brebbia’s rescued and he fanned Nick Hoener before walking Christopher Morel and getting Ian Happ and Darby Swanson to fly out.

Joc Pederson saw to it that the home team wasn’t going to be shut out today. After Thairo Estrada opened the Giants’ half of the first by getting hit by Wesneski’s second pitch, Pederson sent a 92.5 mph four seamer into the left center field bleachers. The ball travelled 382 feet and was Pederson’s sixth round tripper and accounted for his 21st and 22nd RBI of the season.

Chicago got one run back in the second on s0me horrendous fielding by Casey Schmitt at short. With one out and Yan Gomes, who had lucked out on a Texas League single to short left center, and Patrick Wisdom, who had walked, on base, Nick Madrigal hit a sharp grounder to Schmitt, perfect for a double play.

He bobbled the ball, enabling Madrigal to reach first and then threw wildly to the bag, allowing both runners and Madrigal to move up another 90 feet, which made the score 2-1.

The Cubs tied it one inning later on an infield single by Morel and another play began looking like it might have ended the inning, Gomes’s grounder to second that originally had been called a force out, but Chicago’s appeal was successful, and, not only did Morel score, but the Gomes was safely on first, having beaten Schmitt’s throw there.

This certainly was a different game from yesterday’s. Schmitt led off the Giant’ third with a single to left center and hustled to second on left fielder Hopp’s error before trotting home on Pederson’s homer, the 101st splash hit into McCovey Cove, putting San Francisco on top 4-2.

They made it 5-2in the fourth on an RBI Texas League single buy Blake Sabol off Michael Fulmer, who had relieved Wesneski, who had left the game with two on and no one out.

Brandon Hughes, the only lefty in the Chicago bullpen, took over for the Cubs in the fifth and gave up a leadoff single to Pederson and a down the line double to Davis that sent Pederson to third, and a single to center by Conforto that plated plated both runners. Michael Rucker then replaced Hughes on the mound and gave up a single to Blake Sabol that brought in Conforto with San Francisco’s eighth tally.

In a game conspicuous for slovenly fielding the top of the sixth was notable for Walker’s dropping Flores’s throw to first on Matt Mervis’s grounder and Haniger’s dropping Mike Tauchman’s fly ball to left, both of which contributed to Chicago’s narrowing the gap to 8-3.

Estrada’s lead off homer against Jeremiah Estrada, who opened the bottom of the sixth for the Wrigley Field squad, widened that gap to 9-3, and Flores’s sac fly brought in Pederson, who had walked, with the home team’s tenth tally.

Javier Assad relieved Estrada for the Giants’ seventh. He gave up the Giants’ Estrada’s second round tripper of the rout, a three run blast into the left field bleachers that made it 13-3.

Fan favorite Brandon Crawford wrapped it up. with a scoreless top of the ninth, to the delight of his cheering fans.

The Giants move on to St. Louis, where they will face Matthew Liberatore (1-2,6.00) at 4:45, Pacific Time, tomorrow, Monday the 12th. Logan Webb (4-6, 3.09) will pitch for San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO–Gabe Kapler and his brains trust decided to make this afternoon’s 4:30 encounter between the struggling Cubs and the hot and cold Giants a bullpen game. They chose middle and late inning reliever John Brebbia as their opener for the sixth time in 2023 and then moving on to Jakob Junis after Brebbia had given them two perfect frames. Sean Manaea followed him with one on two down in the fifth.

David Ross and his staff sent right handed starter Kyle Hendricks and his 0-2, 4.70 record to the mound. He took a no hitter into the eighth inning, allowing only a second inning walk to Michael Conforto before Mitch Haniger drove an 89 mph four seamer 378 feet deep into left field for a double.

He died on second, and in. the end, San Francisco lost, 4-0, leaving them flat footed at 32-32 for the season. Hendricks ended up pitching eight innings, shutting out the Giants one one hit and no base on. balls. He threw 94 pitches, 61 for strikes, and earned the win, upping his won-lost record to 1-2and lowering his ERA to 3.09. Julian Merryweather set the Giants down in order in the ninth.

Chicago got the first hit and the first run of the game. They came on Matt Mervis’s lead off home run to right on Junis’s third offering. Christopher Morel doubled the Cubs’ advantage in the fourth with another lead off homer, this one off the Levi’s Landing wall beneath the right field fence.

They doubled that lead an inning later on a walk to Nick Madrigal, Mike Tauchman’s double that fell just fair in left, and Morel’s seeing eye single up that middle that drove Junis from the box, relieved by Manaea, who got the third out. By then, the Northsiders were up, 4–0.

Junis was the losing pitcher. His. record now stands at 3-3, 4.58.

San Francisco hasn’t yet named their starting pitcher for tomorrow, Sunday’s, 1:05 game. Whoever he is, he will go against right hander Ryan Wesneski (2-2, 4.72)

Giants Sweep Colorado In Another Come From Behind Win 6-4

By Barbara Mason

Thursday afternoon the San Francisco Giants (32-30) got a sweep over the Colorado Rockies (26-38) taking the third and final game 6-4 at Coors Field in Denver.

On Tuesday the Giants won game one handily 10-4 and on Wednesday they had a come from behind to win it in the eighth inning 5-4 in game two. Finally the Giants have a healthy roster with two key players back in Joc Pederson and Thairo Estrada. Thursday San Francisco finished up this series with a sweep of Colorado.

Thursday game recap: San Francisco’s Thairo Estrada homered in the first inning for the 1-0 lead; it was a solo shot to left field.

The Rockies answered back in the same inning scoring four runs. Ryan McMahon singled driving in a run followed by a Nolan Jones single which got two runners across home plate giving Colorado a 3-1 lead. Ezequel Tovar doubled a run home and after the opening inning had a 4-1 lead.

It was quiet for San Francisco into the sixth inning. Michael Conforto hit a 2-run home run and this game was looking just like yesterday’s contest, trailing by a single run in the latter innings 4-3.

In the ninth inning, the Giants tied up the game 4-4 going on to take the lead 6-4. Brandon Crawford doubled and Blake Sabol scored to tie things up. Yastrzemski scored when LaMonte Wade Jr. sacrificed and Joc Pederson singled bringing Crawford home.

After trailing 4-1 in this game San Francisco rallied to take the 6-4 lead. The Giants were three outs away from the sweep. The pinch hitting was huge for San Francisco in this game as they celebrated a second come from behind win in as many days.

When things looked a bit grim, this ball club got it together in the ninth inning. You just cannot count this team out. It was not the greatest start for pitcher Alex Cobb who went five innings allowing 8 hits and four runs. He settled down in the next four innings and his team mates picked up the slack to end this game in the win column.

What is so encouraging for San Francisco is that they are winning late in the game. This has not been the case this season so something else is really turning around for the Giants right now.

The Giants did it all in this game; relief pitching, efficient innings, great hitting (especially pinch hitting) and defensively. This was a gut-punch for the Rockies after they had led into the latter innings only for the Giants to tie and win in not only today’s game but also yesterday’s game. This was the 8th consecutive win against the Rockies at Coors Field.

San Francisco will now head home for a series with the Chicago Cubs (26-35). Anthony Desclafani will take the mound for the Giants with a 4-5 W/L record and a 3.97 ERA. The Cubs will send Marcus Stroman with a 6-4 win/loss record and a 2.39 ERA. This game will get underway Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM.

On the Giants podcast with Michael:

#1 The Rockies got on the board in the second inning taking a 3-0 lead. Ezequiel Tovar singled Mike Moustakas home. Colorado would add to that lead in the second when power hitter Charlie Blackmon doubled driving Harold Castro and Tovar home for the 3-0 lead.

#2 Michael talk about Austin Slater and how vital he was driving in RBIs in the seventh and eighth innings.

#3 For the Giants Slater’s RBIs were crucial as they just got by the Rockies by a run 5-4 in a game of inches. How tough is it to hit in Coors Field.

#4 The Giants on Tuesday night had been held to no hits until the sixth inning so they made improvements on their hitting on Wednesday night.

#5 The Giants conclude this three game series in Denver against the Rockies and with a chance to sweep the series the Giants will start Alex Cobb (5-2 ERA 2.71) he’ll be opposed by the Rockies Chase Anderson (0-0 ERA 1.69) with a 12:10 pm PT first pitch.

San Francisco Comes From Behind To Beat Rockies in Game Two 5-4

By Barbara Mason

Wednesday the San Francisco Giants (30-30) took game three of the game series with the Colorado Rockies (26-36) 5-4 at Coors Field in Denver taking the first two games of the series.

They handled the Rockies in game one winning 10-4 on Tuesday night getting back to .500. Rookie Patrick Bailey had a great game with three hits and LaMonte Wade Jr. went 3 for 3.

The Giants saw the return of Joc Pederson and Thairo Estrade from IR. Estrada had two doubles and Pederson singled and scored in the five-run fifth inning. Their return was exactly what the team needed in their lineup.

Wednesday night the Giants were looking to take game two in the series. With the return of Estrada and Pederson, they had some added fire power going forward looking for a second win in the series.

The Rockies got on the board in the second inning taking a 3-0 lead. Ezequiel Tovar singled Mike Moustakas home. Colorado would add to that lead in the second when power hitter Charlie Blackmon doubled driving Harold Castro and Tovar home for the 3-0 lead.

In the sixth inning Nolan Jones solo homered to right center to take a 4-0 Colorado lead. San Francisco had been quiet through the first six innings of the game.

The silence came to an end for the Giants in the seventh inning when they scored three runs and they were back in this game. Austin Slater singled and Michael Conforto scored from second base. Casey Schmitt singled and both Mitch Haniger and Blake Slater scored. The Giants now trailed by a single run 4-3.

The Rockies had two on base in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs, threatening to extend their lead. Relief pitcher Taylor Rogers took care of business and Colorado left the inning with two runners stranded on base.

San Francisco needed some offense in this game and they had two innings left to make a move. Pederson walked and Mitch Haniger was hit in the eighth inning. The Giants now had two runners on base with one out.

Slater singled and Pederson scored tying up the game 4-4 and with only the one out, San Francisco had a great opportunity to take the lead for the first time in this game. The Giants took full advantage of this opportunity. Bailey executed a perfect bunt and he had put the Giants ahead 5-4 when Haniger was able to score from third.

After trailing 4-0 the Giants had come to life taking the 5-4 lead. An extra run in the ninth inning would be huge for San Francisco. The Giants began crushing grounders and with two runners on base and no outs they had a great chance to add to their lead.

The Rockies made some great defensive plays and got out of the inning. They would be looking for the walk-off in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Giants needed to protect their lead for their second win in the series.

Closer Camilo Doval finished off the Rockies with a three up three out inning and the Giants came away with the come from behind win 5-4.

The Giants will finish up this series Thursday afternoon with first pitch at 12:10 PM. Alex Cobb will take the mound for San Francisco with a 5-2 W/L record and a 2.71 ERA. Chase Anderson 0-0 will be on the hill for the Rockies with a 1.69 ERA.

Former Giants manager Roger Craig passes away at 93; Giants Gear Up For 3-Game Series with Colorado

Former Giants manager Roger Craig passes away at 93; Giants Gear Up For 3-Game Series with Colorado

By Barbara Mason

Former San Francisco Giants manager Roger Craig who was hired to replace former Giant manger Jimmy Davenport with 18 games left in the 1985 season. Craig passed away at the age of 93 as announced by Giants Chief Executive Officer Larry Baer.

Craig managed the Giants to the National League West Division title in 1987 with some exciting former Giants first baseman Will Clark, third baseman and left fielder Kevin Mitchell and outfielder Jeffery Leonard to name a few.

Craig in 1989 led the Giants to a National League title and to the World Series against the cross bay rivals Oakland A’s. The A’s swept the Giants in four games but it was a turn around for the franchise who suffered so much of the 1980s until Craig came on the scene and helped mold them as a post season contender.

Craig will be remembered for the moniker “Humm Baby” which he got from former Giant catcher Brad Gulden who said “humm baby” to the pitchers before they delivered a pitch. The Giants adapted the moniker as their signature for the 1986 campaign “Humm Baby.” Craig managed the Giants from 1985-1992.

Roger also developed a pitching staff that used the split finger fastball that helped show what good pitching did to good hitting in order for those teams to advance to the post season the way they did. Craig also had a good relationship not just with his players but he was patient and answered and worked very well with the reporters who covered the Giants over the years. There is no doubt Roger Craig will be sorely missed.

Giants-Rockies series preview: Monday the San Francisco Giants (29-30) had a second day off in the past four days. They had a day off last Thursday preparing for their past weekend series with the Baltimore Orioles. San Francisco had a shutout in game two (4-0) of that series but dropped games one and three and find themselves below .500 once again. They are 5.5 games behind the co-leaders of their division: the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.

On Tuesday, the Giants travel to Colorado to take on the Rockies in a three game series. The Rockies have a 26-35 record and are at the bottom of the NLWest.

The Rockies have decided to send Dinelson Lamet to the mound with a 1-2 record and a 13.17 ERA. The Giants starter was undecided early this afternoon but it looks like they may send Sean Manea to the hill. The Giants have some great relief pitching earning a save rate of 76%.

San Francisco has a lot of fire power in contrast to the Rockies with Michael Conforto, Thairo Estrada and JD Davis. Conforto has 11 home runs this season, Estrada has a .301 batting average and JD has 31 RBI’s. They have a solid lineup, all of them able to put runs up on the board.

The Rockies home run leader is Ryan McMahon with 9 homers this season and Elias Diaz has a great batting average at .309. McMahon is also their RBI leader with 34 RBI’s.

First pitch in Tuesday’s game is 5:40 PM at Coors Field in Denver as San Francisco will be looking to not only get back on the winning track but also get their season record back over .500. Fans will be treated to a great match-up between these two teams.

MLB standings aside, both of these teams seem to raise their level of play when they meet so picking a projected winner does not always pan out. It will come down to who has more fire power in this series.

A rough third spells doom for Giants who fall to the Orioles 8-3

SAN FRANCISCO- The final game of their home series against the Orioles did not go well as the Giants lost by a final of 8-3.

The first pitch was thrown out at 1:07 p.m. with 9 mph winds going out to CF and the sun shining bright.

On the mound to start for the Giants was Anthony DeSclafani who came into the game sporting a 4-4 record with a 3.38 era. While for the Orioles Tyler Wells got the start with 3-2 record and a 3.23 era who also has a stellar 0.83 whip which leads the MLB.

The offense got going in the top of the third inning when Adam Frazier knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly to center field that got James McCann home. Following that up Austin Hayes singled on a line drive to right field and with Jorge Mateo on third it extended the lead to 2-0.

The top of the third continued to be a struggle for DeSclafani who walked Aaron Hicks and then walked Ryan Mountcastle and with the bases loaded that brought in the third run of the inning for Baltimore.

Offensively the Orioles were not done in the third as with the bases still loaded Josh Lester singled on a sharp line drive to center field. The hit knocked in three runs as Austin Slater made a poor throw to Brett Wisely which gave enough time for the third run to come home.

DeSclafani also hit James McCann with a pitch but was able to strike out Jorge Mateo finally bringing the top of the inning to a close.

At the top of the fourth inning not surprisingly the Giants made a pitching change bringing in Jakob Junis who came in with a 3-2 record and a 3.82 era.

In the sixth inning with Junis still on the mound McCann who was up to bat absolutely crushed a pitch to left field making it a 7-0 ball game.

With the Giants now up in the sixth Wilmer Flores walked which set up Blake Sabol who homered to right center field getting his seventh home run of the season and making it 7-2.

After the home run the Orioles made a pitching change taking out Wells and putting in Mike Baumann who had a 4-0 record along with a 4.11 era heading into the game.

Wells would finish with a stat line of 5.1 innings pitched, allowing four hits, two earned runs, and nine K’s.

In the seventh the Giants went to the bullpen once again this time calling on Ryan Walker who came in with a 1-0 record and a 1.23 era. Junis left the game with three innings pitched, three hits allowed, one run allowed, and 3 K’s.

The eight inning saw another pitching change for the Giants as Taylor Rodgers came into the game with a 1-2 record and a 3.93 era.

Baltimore followed suit in the bottom of the eight inning bringing in Yennier Cano who came into the game with a 1-0 record and a 0.90 era.

The Giants did get some excitement going in the inning with back to back hits from Lamonte Wade Jr. and J.D. Davis. Wilmer Flores was then able to reach on a fielders choice out scoring Wade from third making it 7-3.

Sabol then grounded out into a double play that was played beautifully by the Orioles defense bringing the inning to a quick close.

In the ninth to close the game out the Giants brought in Luke Jackson who was coming in for only his second appearance of the season so far.

Anthony Standar reached on a fielding error by Wisely and Hicks knocked him home with a triple bringing the score up to 8-3.

The bottom of the ninth saw the Giants go down in order with Austin Voth now dealing for the Orioles.

Taking the win home was Wells while DeSclafani took the loss.

The Giants next game will be on the road against the Rockies on Tuesday at 5:40 p.m.
