Kings Extend Win Streak, Beat Phoenix 108-99.

By Shawn Whelchel

With both a balanced scoring attack and, perhaps more importantly, a solid defensive outing, the Sacramento Kings earned their fourth straight victory on Wednesday night as they beat the Phoenix Suns 108-99 at US AirwaysCenter.

Sacramento had seven players score in double figures, including all five starters, while leading the Suns throughout the entire game. DeMarcus Cousins led the charge for Sacramento with a team-high 24 points and 11 rebounds with an efficient 11-of-19 shooting from the field.

But while the Kings balanced scoring efficiency is sure to excite some fans, tonight’s battle was won on the other side of the ball, as Sacramento held the usually hot-shooting Suns to under 100 points. Sacramento, who holds the second worst defensive ranking in the NBA by allowing 105.1 points per game, held Phoenix to just 43.7 percent shooting on the night, including a measly 24 percent from beyond the arc.

The game wasn’t a cake-walk for Sacramento though, as a late Phoenix surge brought the Suns to within striking range in the fourth quarter after pulling to within five points with just under five minutes left in the game. But shooting guard Ben McLemore scored six of his 12 points on two consecutive three pointers to extend the cushion for Sacramento heading into the final minutes.

Although the fourth quarter would be the only time that Phoenix would outscore the Kings, the comeback attempt was too little and too late, as Sacramento would hold on for their fourth straight win while advancing their road record to 10-24.

Not only does Wednesday night’s victory improve an abysmal road victory, but it gives the Kings a semi-respectable 8-11 record since George Karl took command of the club. The victory also secured their first season series win over Phoenix since the 2010-11 season.

The Suns will look to continue their hot-streak against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Charlie O: Karl reason for Kings three game win streak

by Charlie O Mallonee

SACRAMENTO–The biggest part of the Kings three game win streak success has been they’ve been listening to head coach George Karl. Karl came in and said, “I want to look at these final 30 games as a mini season and see what we can do.” The Kings have been working at becoming that team with a dribble drive offense.

Basic philosophy shoot the three or score in the key that’s the whole point of the dribble drive. It’s interesting because one of the reasons why they let former head coach Mike Malone go was over the pace of play. They started to try to make some of those changes with former head coach Tyrone Corbin and they weren’t really able to get those things implemented.

Karl came in and the team has really bought in and there working hard on it. There is nothing in the world that’s harder for a team in any sport to have to try to make changes on the fly during the course of a season and Karl has been able to get a team that has obviously been down in the mouth.

The Kings had a season that went so poorly and their on their third head coach and he’s been able to get them to buy in playing a different style of basketball. You look back over this three game win streak starting off last Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets the Kings beat the Hornets in Charlotte.

So the Kings have a little bit of confidence coming in but Charlotte has a pretty good team and the Hornets are more than likely going to the playoffs. That’s not saying a whole lot because a lot of people would have picked them anyway to go to the playoffs in the eastern conference.

The Kings came in and played some great basketball without DeMarcus Cousins, Cousins has been up and down all season long, as long as we know since he had that battle with meningitis. He’s just not been that tough physically as we might have expected because Cousins is still battling health issues. The Kings are in Phoenix tonight and then in New Orleans on Friday in a bid to try to get a fourth win in a row.

Kings Win Third Straight Defeating 76ers

AP Photo/Rich Pedroncelli

By Jeff Hall
SACRAMENTO –

Despite poor shooting in the first half the Kings found a way to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 107-106 in front of 16,636 fans at Sleep Train Arena. The 76ers scored 70 points in the first half, but only scored 36 points in the second half allowing the Kings to pull away with the victory.

The victory gives the Kings their first three game-winning streak since November 20-25, 2014.

The Kings struggled on both ends of the floor early in the contest allowing the Sixers to jump out to an early lead in the first quarter. The Kings shot twenty-five percent in the first four minutes of the game. The Sixers shot 62.5 percent from the field, but despite their early struggles the Kings got themselves back into the game thanks in most part to the Kings strong play around the basket. The Sixers led the Kings 31-27 after the first. The Kings ended the quarter with 38.5 percent shooting from the field. Cousins Led the Kings in scoring with 10 first quarter points. Gay scored only two points in the first quarter. The highlight of the first quarter was that the Kings only turned the ball over once.

The second quarter began to be a similar style of play as the first quarter until Cousins was successful with a 3-point play and Gay slammed one down to give the Kings their first lead of the evening with six minutes into the second quarter. However, the Kings were not as strong around the basket as they were in the first. Simply put, the Kings were out-shot by the Sixers who scored 39 points in the second quarter and a total of 70 points in the first half. Cousins missed several close shots near the basket late in the second quarter. Despite his struggles, Cousins still led the Kings in scoring with 17 first half points.

The Kings continued to struggle shooting early in the third, but score continued to remain close. You had a feeling that the Kings were going to pull this game out, primarily because despite how well Philadelphia shot the ball they could not get a sizable lead. Cousins took charge and Cousins scored a game high 33 points with 17 rebounds.

The Kings took the game over in the fourth primarily because of the strong play of Cousins and improved defense by Cousins and the team.

Team Notes:

UCLA’s David Wear added to the King’s roster

The Kings signed David Wear to a 10-day contract according to Kings GM Pete D’Alesandro. Wear is a 6-10 235 pound forward who is averaging 16.3 ponts per game in 43 games for the Reno Big Horns, the Kings NBA D League affiliate. Wear played for UCLA. He will wore number 31 for the Kings. Wear did not play in the game against the 76ers.

A new way to find a win

For a good part of the season it has been Kings All-Star DeMarcus Cousins who has clearly been the needed go to man for the Kings to find a way to Win, but since the All-Star break good things happen with the great play of Rudy Gay.

Coming into tonight’s game the Kings have been finding ways to win with Rudy Gay leading the way, Gay started slowly in the first half, but ended with 21 points. In the previous game, Gay scored 26 points. He’s averaged 27.6 points and 51.6 percent shooting over his last eight games, and Sacramento is 14-7 when he scores 25 or more.

Gay credited his second straight start at power forward for helping open things up.

“The shots out there look differently because there is more spacing on the floor and more spacing to drive, not just for me, but for my teammates as well,” said Gay, whose 48.3 field-goal percentage against Philadelphia is tied for his second highest against an opponent.

Before tonight’s game George Karl spoke of Gay’s great play of late. “We’re asking him to expand his game a little bit which is always challenging to a very talented player. He’s done it well, We are getting rewards from it.”

Throwback Tuesday

It was Hardwood classic night at Sleep Train Arena with the Kings sporting throwback uniforms of the Rochester Royals.

Up next the Kings head back on the road to Phoenix to take on the Suns tomorrow night after wrapping up a five-game home stand.

Kings actually look regal in romp over the visiting Wizards

Dunk

By Morris Phillips

Now that George Karl has done his initial tweaks and pokes, Boogie has returned to health, the rest of the Kings have been put on notice, and Vlade’s settled into his office and found a place to smoke, the Sacramento Kings appear ready to win.

Accordingly, the winning commenced on Sunday afternoon as the Kings turned in an impressive performance, blowing out the playoff-bound but road-weary Wizards, 109-86.

The NBA’s most restless franchise can’t seem to stand still with all the roster moves and upheaval, but they appear close to calming down as the season draws to a close. On Sunday, the Kings used their 17th different starting lineup, but the changes worked: Sacramento won their second straight and did it defensively, holding Washington to 86 points after holding Charlotte to 91 on Friday.

“I wasn’t expecting an easy win, but we got one.” Karl said.  “I think it’s the best game we probably played since I’ve been here.”

The Kings started fast, shooting 67 percent in the first quarter to lead 34-29. All five Kings’ s starters would go on to make more than half their field goal attempts, but Gay, working against Paul Pierce, would strike first, totaling 13 of his team-best 26 points before halftime. Karl continued his experiment of playing Gay at the power forward spot, in hopes of getting the veteran in more favorable matchups against slower defenders, or bigger defenders hesitant to chase Gay around the perimeter.   In this case, Pierce committed three fouls prior to halftime guarding Gay and was limited to 17 minutes of court time.  Gay has obviously liked the subtle change, averaging 25 points per game over his last 10 appearances.

Derrick Williams has also seen a slight bump in his floor time under Karl and on Sunday that led to a pair of emphatic dunks, one off a perfectly timed—if not placed—alley oop pass from Gay.  Williams may not be a natural fit to play off guard, but the move does send a signal to frequent starter Ben McLemore that his floor time will have to be earned.

The Kansas product did seem to operate with an urgency as well, scoring all 17 points after halftime.

While the Kings appeared engaged, the Wizards did not, with Kevin Seraphin committing a flagrant foul on Omri Casspi as he drove to the hoop, and then getting called for the dreaded defensive 3-second violation right before the half.   Washington would allow the Kings to shoot 50 percent from the field for the game including eight made threes.

‘We need to come out with more defensive focus or we don’t have a chance.  That’s pretty much it,” Coach Randy Wittman said of the Wizards’ disinterested effort.

The Wizards were looking to guarantee a non-losing season with their 41st win as well as closing the gap on the Bulls in the East for an opportunity to secure home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.  But along with the defensive issues, the Wizards missed 14 of 17 shot attempts from distance and trailed by 20 points after three quarters.

The Kings improved to 24-45 on the season and did so with Cousins back in his familiar starting role after an absence due to injury.  The versatile center played just 23 minutes due to foul trouble but still put good numbers (20 points, seven rebounds and five assists).    His long bounce pass to a streaking McLemore led to a layup in transition and the Kings first double-digit lead early in the third quarter.

Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 19 points along with four assists.

The Kings face the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday in Sacramento to conclude a three-game home stand, prior to playing seven of their next 10 on the road.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Charlie O: Kings working on their defense to keep em in games; Cousins and Gay carrying the weight of the team

by Charlie O Mallonee

SACRAMENTO–The Sacramento Kings regarding their last road trip they got a win in Charlotte on Wed the 11th, everybody was pretty excited because Charlotte was one of those games that was projected for the Kings to have a shot to win it. Being on the road the road percentages usually go against you and you would say usually this will not be a win but they picked up a crucial win in Charlotte during that long seven game road trip.

The Kings got that win on a Wednesday and now that week on Friday the 13th they were headed to Philadelphia. We know that the 76ers are a team that have been horrible all season long. It’s a team that has been accused multiple times of taking dives in games to get another number one pick to try to build up their team.

You look at this game and you say this is a shot for the Kings to go in and get a win, they went in and they played some pretty good basketball particularly in the first half. They scored 42 points in the second quarter of that game and they had a lead as large as 18. So your going “wow” an 18 point lead coming into the second half if these guys play just a little consistent basketball they can win the game.

Well the problem was they didn’t play consistent basketball, in the third quarter they allowed themselves to be outscored 37-18 the Sixers with the wide lead. In the final quarter the Sixers outscored them 26-25 and they came away with a seven point 114-107 victory. It was a demoralizing loss for the Kings because it was one of those games that was penciled in as you remember we talked about before they went on the road trip we had penciled in victory in Philadelphia.

If you win in Charlotte and Philadelphia and now your heading to Washington you have a shot at a potential .500 road trip to be very exciting for the Kings. You lose that situation and it was a particularly tough loss because in the Philadelphia game DeMarcus Cousins scored 39 points pulled down a record 24 rebounds. Now when you have a performance like that and you don’t come away with a victory it not only demoralizes the team but particularly the guy who scored that many points and set the record in rebounds.

They had Rudy Gay in that game and he scored 24 points and they were the only three players for the Kings who scored in double figures ultimately after doing so well in the first half of the game they wound up with 40.2 percent from the floor. Their three point shooting was under 30 percent. Here again were going to keep going back to this and we understand the Kings head coach George Karl dribble drive aggressive offense and the Kings are going to commit more turnovers. This was a head scratching loss for the Kings 114-107.

Kings back after road trip, lose to Atlanta

By Robert Steward

SACRAMENTO–

Fresh off a 2-6 road trip in which the Sacramento Kings allowed an average of 115 points a game and 52% shooting from the floor over the last 7 games, they hosted the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Hawks tonight at Sleep Train Arena. It was quite the entertaining game but, as has been the case too many times this season, the Kings came up short in the end, losing to the Hawks, 110-103. The Hawks were playing without NBA 3-point leader Kyle Korver, who has hit 50.4% from beyond the arc this season. Korver suffered a broken nose Sunday night during the Hawks’ win over the Los Angeles Lakers and will miss at least 3 games. One week ago Korver had torched the Kings for 6 three-pointers, leading Atlanta to a franchise-record 20 trey’s in routing the Kings, 130-105, in Atlanta. Sacramento was also playing short-handed, as Rudy Gay sat out with a left patellar tendon strain.

In what became a familiar theme throughout the game, the Kings opened by missing 3 layups in the first minute of play. Ben McLemore picked up two quick fouls and left the game at 9:41. The Kings made only their second bucket of the quarter at the 8:56 mark, a three by Ray McCallum to make it 6-5, Atlanta, before the teams began to pick things up a bit. DeMarcus Cousins began attacking the basket with regularity, making some layups in the low post and getting to the free throw line. After a Nik Stauskas trey, the Kings led, 29-23, with 34 seconds left. However, Atlanta, who kept getting second chances at the basket following their own missed shots, answered back with a quick layup by Dennis Schroder and following a Kings miss, the Hawks’ Shelvin Mack hit a 3 at the horn to cut the Kings lead to 29-28 after the first quarter.

The second quarter saw both teams going back and forth for the first 5 minutes of the quarter. However, with the score tied at 41 with 6:35 left in the half following a jumper by Cousins, the Kings went cold and proceeded to miss their next 7 shots, allowing the Hawks to build a 50-41 lead until Cousins finally broke the scoring drought with a power baseline dunk with 2:15 left. Cousins had been shaken up a bit following a hard offensive charge call on Atlanta’s DeMarre Carroll with 5:45 left, staying on the floor for a few minutes but came back on the court following a timeout after the foul. The Kings trailed at the half, 54-47. Atlanta shot 46% from the floor in the first half, hitting 5 of 12 from 3-point land. Sacramento tailed off in the 2nd quarter and was only shooting 41% from the floor at the break, although they were 5 of 11 from beyond the arc. Cousins had 14 points and 9 rebounds at halftime, while Atlanta had balanced scoring from Jeff Teague, who had 11 points, and Paul Millsap with 10. Mack and Carroll both had 8 for the Hawks.

Both teams opened the 3rd quarter playing subpar, the Kings missing 4 of their first 5 shots, while the Hawks missed 5 of their first 6, including 3 in a row from behind the 3-point line. The Kings also got sloppy and turned the ball over repeatedly. Despite the turnovers, the Kings only trailed, 57-52, with 8:37 left in the 3rd. It was at this point that Atlanta went on an 11-4 run over the next two and a half minutes to take their biggest lead up to that point at 68-56, forcing the Kings to call a timeout with 6:07 left in the quarter. The Hawks got to the foul line time and time again in the 3rd, hitting 9 of 12 from the charity stripe. But Sacramento did not roll over that easily. Sparked by Jason Thompson and Andre Miller coming off the bench, the Kings fought back and whittled what was once a 13-point Atlanta lead at 73-60 down to 80-76 before Atlanta scored with 20 seconds left to finish the quarter leading 82-76. Thompson scored 8 points in the quarter but the Kings turned it over 9 times in the 3rd.

As the 4th quarter unfolded, the Kings stayed close, trimming the lead on 4 different occasions to two points, despite DeMarcus Cousins picking up his 5th foul with 7:23 left and having to exit the game. Sacramento only trailed 90-88 at the 6:33 mark and had hit 6 of their first 8 shots in the quarter. Thompson and Miller continued to spark the Kings, who cut the lead to 1, at 96-95, following a Miller jumper, which forced the Hawks to call timeout with 3:00 left to go. It was still a one-point Hawks lead, 100-99, when Miller had a chance to give the Kings their first lead since 8:42 left in the 2nd quarter but missed his first shot of the game with 1:28 left. The Hawks countered with a three by Kent Bazemore at 1:06 to push the lead up to 103-99. Atlanta proceeded to put the game away by hitting 5 of 6 free throws in the final 23 seconds.

Atlanta’s balanced scoring continued throughout the game. 4 of the Hawks starters finished in double figures, led by Jeff Teague with 23 points, Millsap had 19, Carroll scored 16, and Bazemore finished with 11. Mack and Schroder came off the bench to score 14 and 10, respectively. Even without Korver, the Hawks still launched 31 three-pointers, hitting 12. Atlanta finished at 45% from the floor. The Kings came alive in the 4th, hitting 10 of 17 from the floor. Jason Thompson had a perfect game, hitting all 7 of his shots from the floor and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. He finished with 18 points off the bench, while Miller had 16 off the bench on 6 of 7 from the floor. Cousins led the Kings with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Omri Casspi had 16, McLemore added 11 before fouling out with 23 seconds left, and McCallum chipped in with 10. The Kings finished at 47% shooting from the floor, including 7 of 20 from beyond the arc, but had 20 turnovers for the game, which proved too difficult to overcome.

Next up for the Kings will be the Los Angeles Clippers when they visit on Wednesday night at 7pm.

Deja Vu in D.C., Kings lose 113-97

NBA.com

by Charlie O. Mallonee

Stop me if you have heard this one before. The Kings start the game strong. Sacramento has an unbelieveable second quarter and goes into halftime with a big lead. Then, the Kings falter in the third quarter allowing their opponents to get back into the game. The other team has a strong fourth quarter and the Kings lose the game.

That is a summary of the Kings – Wizards game on Saturday night in D.C. Sacramento lost to the Wizards 113-97.

The Kings went into the game short-handed. Rudy Gay had to sit out the contest due to a left patellar tendon strain. When the Kings are without one of their big two, things usually do not go well for the team.

Sacramento played a solid first quarter as they outscored Washington 25-21 in the quarter.

The Kings played dominant basketball in the second quarter. As a team, they shot 75.0-percent. DeMarcus Cousins scored 13 points to go with the eight put up by Ray McCallum. The Kings bench scored 18 points in the period. Sacramento went to their locker room with a 64-46 halftime lead. It appeared that the Kings were ready to close out their eight game road trip on a high note.

A different Kings team returned to the floor for the third quarter. Their outside shooting went away as they shot just six for 16 from the field. Sacramento could score only 21 points in the quarter. The Wizards came out on fire. John Wall shot four for six with three 3-pointers to score 15 in the period. Paul Pierce was a perfect five for five shooting, including two 3-point baskets, and put up 12 points. The Kings, who led by 21 early in the third, were now holding on to a one point lead, 85-84 after three quarters.

As the fourth quarter began, the Wizards had never held the lead in the game. That changed with 10:11 to go in the game when Ramon Sessions (yes, the former King) hit a 25 foot 3-point shot to give Washington an 89-88 lead. The Wizards would never trail again and went on to win the game.

The loss dropped the Kings record on the eight game road trip to 2-6.

The Wizards are now 38-28 on the season, and they now have a three game winning streak.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 30 points in 29 minutes on the floor. Cousins fouled out with 5:34 to go in the game. It was the 10th time he had fouled out of a game this season. Cousins also picked up a technical foul.

Derrick Williams and Ray McCallum scored 15 points apiece. They were the only other Kings in double figures. McCallum added six assists.

John Wall led the Wizards scoring with 31 points. Paul Pierce added 17. Washington had six players score in double figures. The Wizards hit a season high 13 3-pointers in the game,

The eight game, 12 day road trip is over for the Kings. They will have Sunday off, and then, the Kings host the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night at Sleep Train Arena. The fun never ends.

Kings implode in Philly

by Charlie O. Mallonee

The Sacramento Kings had an 18 point lead over the Philadelphia 76ers with 8:46 to go in the third quarter of the game on Friday night. From that point on the Sixers started chipping away at the Sacramento lead until they took the lead 81-80 late in the third period. Philadelphia went on to defeat the Kings 114-107 in what is a stunning loss for the Kings.

When we looked at the Kings daunting eight game road trip and tried to project game outcomes, virtually every writer and commentator had Kings winning in Philly. Why not? The Sixers have consistently been one of the worst teams in the “the Association” all season. Some have even accused the Sixers of tanking because their performance has been so bad. So, predicting a Kings win versus the Sixers was a no brainer.

Then, you add to the mix the Kings big road win over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night. Sacramento beat a team that is fighting for a playoff berth. That victory should have given the Kings the confidence and motivation to pick up their third win of the road trip in Philadelphia, but as the man said, “That’s why they play the game.”

The Sixers not only overcame an 18 point deficit but opened up a 13 point lead of their own in the fourth quarter. The Kings fought back and cut the Sixers lead to just three points with 1:15 left to play in the game.

The Sixers responded again to open up another solid lead. An alley-oop pass from Ish Smith to Nerlens Noel that resulted in an easy dunk with 41.9 seconds left in the game gave Philly 108-103 lead. The Sixers added six points off of free throws to seal the deal.

DeMarcus Cousins did everything he could do to lead his team to a win. Cousins scored 39 points in 40 minutes of playing time and added a career high 24 rebounds to his stats for the game. It was Cousins’ 40th double-double of the season.

Rudy Gay had a 24 point game while Derrick Williams added 15 of his own. Cousins, Gay and Williams were the only Kings to score in double figures. The Sacramento bench produced a meager 25 points.

Sacramento shot just 40.2-percent (35 for 87) from the floor. They were just four for 14 (28.6-percent) from 3-point range. The Kings went to free throw line 17 times more than the Sixers scoring 33 points from the line but it was not enough to bring them a victory.

The Kings turned the ball over 17 times and those miscues resulted in 27 Philadelphia points.

Robert Covington led the Sixers scoring with 24 points while Nerlens Noel put up 16. Jerami Grant scored 13. Mbah a Moute, Sampson, Thompson and Smith all scored 10 points apiece. The Sixers bench scored 47 points in the game.

Philadelphia shot 47.4-percent from the field (45 for 95).

Both teams are back in action on Saturday night. The Kings (22-41) have to play the Wizards in D.C. Washington is on a two game winning streak.

The Sixers (15-50) will host the Brooklyn Nets in a battle of non-playoff teams.

Kings Fight Off Hornets, Hold On For A 113-106 Road Win In Charlotte

By Shawn Whelchel

The Sacramento Kings were able to snap a four game losing streak on Wednesday, as a pair of strong performances from DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore lifted them to a 113-106 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

In what proved to be a close game, the Kings were able to execute on both the offensive and defensive sides of the court late in the fourth quarter in order to sneak away with a rare road win.

Cousins was perfect in the fourth quarter, shooting 4-for-4 to reach 20 points and 14 rebounds on the night, while McLemore added 27 of his own. Rudy Gay added a strong showing as well, dumping in 26 of his own points on the night.

The Kings were aided by the diminished role of Hornets star Kemba Walker, who scored just six points in 16 minutes of play as he continues to recover from a knee injury. Charlotte lost another key piece when center Al Jefferson left in the third quarter.

The loss of Jefferson opened the door for Cousins to go to work late in the game, with both he and Gay scoring 18 combined points on a perfect 6-6 shooting from the field.

With Walker still recovering, the Hornets relied on Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for their scoring output, as he poured in 23 points on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting on the night. Mo Williams followed Kidd-Gilchrist with 20-points and eight assists.

The Kings will have a day off before taking on the 76ers on Friday.

Sacramento Kings podcast with Charlie O: Magic were a handful last week can Sac answer the bell for Hornets Wed night?

by Charlie O Mallonee

SACRAMENTO–You look at the two road games that the Sacramento Kings played in Orlando and Miami last week I said that the Orlando Magic should be a win on the road. The Kings got beat up in San Antonio on Wednesday and that wasn’t a surprise and that was the back end of a back to back and that was in New York and San Antonio.

The Kings played back to back on Tuesday the 3rd and Wednesday the 4th before heading out to Florida. It looked they would be able to handle the two games and in Orlando and Miami last Friday and Saturday. On Friday they turned around and let the Magic score 68 points in the first half. It was just insane the way Orlando was playing good defense.

The Kings came out a little slow they came out and picked it up and scored 57 points in the first half but they just let Orlando get out there too far. They were never able to pull the Magic back in, They were able to stay close but there has been a tendency for the Kings and it’s one that they get behind.

The Kings would pull up and get close and get within a point or two and even would take a lead by a point or two but then they would pull back. That’s something that you would see consistently in the NBA when a team does that they wind up losing the game because they spend so much energy putting themselves back into the game.

The other team is just using the energy to stay right there and when it comes to crunch time the Kings don’t have enough to put themselves over the top. Now in the case of Orlando they just owned the Kings they went 14-24 from the field and they scored 32 points a game. The other guy that just tore it up was the Magic’s Channing Frye he finished with 22 points.

Frye was in the game for Orlando to do one thing and that is to throw three point shots. He took a total of 11 shots from the field with three pointers and connected with six of them and wound up with the 22 points. Now the Kings Rudy Gay had a phenomenal game with 39 points and DeMarcus had 29 points. Cousins and Gay came together late in the game but it wasn’t enough and the Magic won the ball game by five points 119-114.

For tonight it’s onto Charlotte and the Hornets as the Kings go into Charlotte with a current road record of 1-3 winning only in New York that started this trip on Tuesday the third.
