Sports headline coverage, Discussion on the 49ers and Raiders pre season games with the 49ers hosting the Green Bay Packers on Saturday and the Oakland Raiders hosting the Tennessee Titans on Friday. The Giants-Dodgers series in Los Angeles where Giants pitcher Matt Moore nearly no hit the Dodgers on Thursday night in the Giants 4-0 shutout win. The A’s will open up a three game series in St Louis after dealing relief pitcher Mark Rzepczynski to the Washington Nationals. Cal will open their season in Australia against the University of Hawaii on Friday and Stanford will open their season at home against Kansas State on September 2nd.

The Sharks and Blues are headed back to San Jose for game six of these playoffs a win by the Sharks brings the Stanley Cup Finals to San Jose for the very first time. We wanted to thank our wonderful hosts for having us do our remote at the Franciscan, Owner Dante, Public Relations manager Brandy Marts, District manager Drew, Manager on duty Shawn, Servers Isaac, and Nathan.

Since 1957 The Franciscan offers some of Fisherman’s Wharf finest foods as recommended by our host and restaurant Regional Manager Drew who went over the menu. Famous for it’s crab plates enjoy a wide variety of selections freshly prepared by the Franciscan’s skillful chefs like the famous whole crab, the very popular crab enchiladas, also try the mussels, shrimps, raw oysters on a half shell on ice, crab cioppino, sea bass, salmon.

The Sportstalk staff enjoyed the seafood variety at the Franciscan, David Zizmor enjoyed the yellow tale, a dozen raw oysters, and crab cioppino, Tony the Tiger enjoyed a mixed seafood plate of scallops, shrimps, crabs, and fish, Jeremy Kahn had crab enchilada and Morris enjoyed the seafood mix as well.

Sportstalk podcast live from the Sandbar Restaurant downtown Vancouver BC Tue Mar 1, 2016

Cast: Joe Lami (NHL Analyst), Matt Harrington (San Jose Sharks beat writer), and Lee Leonard (producer) with another edition of Sportstalk from the beautiful Sandbar Restaurant on Granville Island in downtown Vancouver. The Sandbar serves it’s dinner menu starting at 5PM daily, for an unforgettable seafood experience the Sandbar features many of downtown Vancouver’s favorite seafood dishes. The Mixed Grilled Seafood, Cedar Plank Salmon, Scallop and Prawn Jambalaya.

For Tuesday’s podcast at the Sandbar Joe tried the Sirloin steak, Matt had the GI burger, Daisy had the Swordfish, and Lee our producer had the Alaskan King Crab. Our server Tim was attentive, prompt and shared his knowledge of the menu and the NHL. Tyler the bartender told us what was his favorite dishes are and some of the favorite drinks he serves up at the Sandbar, Benny and Anne Fleming the dayshift managers were very hospitable, Sandbar’s executive chef Cooper Green sat in mid show for an interview about his favorite dishes to prepare and the famous dishes at Sandbar he makes a mean calamari, Brooklyn the night manager closed the show out with her recommendations for deserts, we want to thank John Hawkins general manager, also managers Craig Pingle, Scott Tunni Cliffe, Christian Nowak, event coordinator Gabrielle Lee, Executive Sous chef Trevor Booth, Master Sushi Chef Hoshi Tsutomu, and Sous Chef Patrick Guay all for welcoming Sportstalk to the Sandbar.

On the program the Montreal Canadiens had a rough time to prepare to play the San Jose Sharks on Monday after not getting much out of the trade deadline. The Canadiens were expected to be a playoff team after getting off to a shockingly surprising start going 9-0 to start the season only to lose their star goaltender Carey Price. The Canadiens are reportedly having internal problems and you can expect the team to unload some of the players in the off season.

Joe and Matt talk Sharks and Canucks who meet two more times this week after meeting last Sunday. They’ll bring you up to date with everything NHL on this edition of Sportstalk from the Sandbar Restaurant in downtown Vancouver.

 

 

Sportstalk podcast part two live at Bridges Restaurant in downtown Vancouver BC Mon Feb 29,2016

Joe Lami (host), Matt Harrington (SJ Sharks beat writer), and Lee Leonard (producer), at Bridges Restaurant in downtown Vancouver BC. On the road trip with the San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks. The Sharks play the Canucks three times in six days. The Sharks who started out the trip playing on Sunday night for the win 4-1 will continue their meeting with Vancouver on Thursday night in Vancouver before concluding the series on Saturday night in San Jose.

Ironically Sunday was the first meeting between the two teams for the season. The Sharks are looking to hold their playoff spot as they battled against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night the Sharks took it to the Canadiens with a 6-2 whipping at SAP Center in San Jose. Matt and Joe will have more coverage from Vancouver’s Rogers Center on Thursday  when the Sharks return   listen in for the NHL podcast.

We want to extend our thanks to our very generous hosts at Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island in downtown Vancouver, Peter Horwood CEO, President, Susan Sharun events manager, Katie Matthews Manager, Natalija Dreseris Manager, Richard Manager, Chef Steve, and our server Torben Rolfsen. The service was the first thing that we noticed that was outstanding as our server Torben was very attentive and also spoke at length with us about what specials were on the menu.

Tobin had recommended the Cesar salad hot seafood and his recommendation couldn’t have been better with a nice bed of lettuce choice with shrimp, local salmon, and sea bass to compliment the salad, Joe Lami enjoyed the fish and chips and the restaurant in the winter uses snapper for the fish portion Joe recommended this on the podcast to all our listeners. Matt had the steak cooked to perfection and enjoyed it with a side of mash potatoes. The soup de jour was a patato base with bits of smoked salmon. The deserts were to die for as Matt enjoyed his raspberry gelato and producer Lee had the banana split.

We know we’d love to come back to Bridges and especially thank everyone at Bridges for their warm hospitality in hosting our podcast.
