#1 The New York Islanders (8-4) are heading to the third round after the playoffs after their second round defeat over the Boston Bruins (6-5) on Wednesday night crushing the Bruins 6-2.

#2 The Isles scored three goals in the second period and two in the third and the Bruins who were noted as one of the more prolific NHL offensive teams just couldn’t answer back at the Nassau Coliseum.

#3 The Bruins got only two goals one in the first period and one in the third period both from Brad Marchand but Marchand couldn’t provide anymore and got no help as the Islanders provided defense to keep the Bruins out of the net.

#4 Mary Lisa you look up and down the Bruins line up with Marchand, David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron, Craig Smith, Nick Ritchie, just to name a few with shooters like this how shocked do they have to be about getting beat in the elimination game by four goals?

#1 The Montreal Canadiens swept the Winnipeg Jets in four games on Monday night with a 3-2 win. Tyler Toffoli who scored at 1:39 in over time sent the Canadiens to the next round. The Habs have won seven straight games since being down 3-1 to Toronto.

#2 New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz is a genius of sorts the Isles who had a three goal lead were starting to lose control but Trotz calling a time out and calmed everyone down and the Islanders skated out and played their game getting a one goal 5-4 win over the Boston Bruins taking a 3-2 lead.

#3 The Tampa Bay Lightning are headed to the next round of the playoffs after getting a 2-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night in Carolina taking the series 4-1. The key to the game 5 win comes from the help of Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy who stopped all 29 shots for the shutout.

#4 Offensively the Lightning got scoring help from Ross Colton and Brayden Point who scored a goal each and it was enough to win game 5 to advance. Len, talk about Colton and Brayden’s scoring on Tuesday night for the win.

#5 The Vegas Golden Knights Mark Stone got a crucial goal early in overtime on Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche for a 3-2 win breaking a 2-2 deadlock. Both goaltenders Marc Andre Fleury for the Knights and Phillipp Brubauer for the Aves were playing standing on their heads in this nail biter.

#1 The Montreal Canadiens (2-0) wasted no time jumping to a 2-0 series lead over the Winnipeg Jets (0-2). The Canadiens who had a successful previous series against the Toronto Maple Leafs that they won in seven games have really come into this series with a head of steam.

#2 The Canadiens took game 1 rather handedly 5-3 on Wednesday and on Friday night got an amazing shutout in a well played defensive game 1-0. Habs goalie Carey Price stopped all 30 shots for the shutout and they got their only goal in the second period by Tyler Toffoli which stood up for the win.

#3 The Vegas Golden Knights (1-2) avoided going 0-3 with a one goal win over the Colorado Avalanche (2-1) 3-2 on home ice at T Mobile Center in Las Vegas. The Knights got scoring from William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault, and Max Pacioretty.

#4 Matt, talk about tonight’s games we’ll start with game 4 between the Boston Bruins who lead the series over the New York Islanders 2-1 the Islanders have home ice at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.

#4 The Carolina Hurricanes are down 1-3 against the Tampa Bay Lightning (3-1) as they faced off today in Tampa Bay for game 4. The Bolts come away with a 6-4 win over the Canes with game 5 Tuesday night at Carolina.

#1 Mary, the Vegas Golden Knights who normally can hold their own were whipped in game 1 of the series by the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday 7-1 and lost a close game 3-2 on Wednesday night now down 0-2 in the series.

#2 The Knights defense improved over the course of game 1 to game 2 but their offense in both games definitely absent.

#3 How much credit does Avalanche goaltender Phillipp Brubauer deserve, in game 2 Wednesday night he stopped 39 out of 41 close enough to hold it together for the Avalanche.

#4 The Knights are noted for the offensive prowess but Brubauer is a goaltender who can frustrate you.

#5 Game 3 is Friday night at the T Mobile Center on the Vegas Strip will having home ice and being down 0-2 change the picture a bit for the struggle Knights as the Avalanche take some momentum into game 3.

#1 The Tampa Bay Lightning (2-0) got by the Carolina Hurricanes 0-2) 2-1 Alex Killorn and Anthony Cirelli were the Lightning scorers and it was enough to get by the Hurricanes in game 2 a very close game 2-1.

#2 Len talk about the job between the pipe for the Lightning’s Andrei Vasilevskiy stopping 31 out of 32 shots.

#3 The Hurricanes only goal was from Andrei Svechinkov in the third period but time ran out and Carolina finds itself two games in the hole to Tampa Bay.

#4 For Vasilevskiy before the game was nominated for the Vezina Trophy which is presented to one of the top three finalists for NHL goaltenders the other two nominated Marc Andre Fluery of the Vegas Golden Knights and Phillipp Brubauer of the Colorado Avalanche Vasilevskiy in game 1 stopped 37 Carolina shots and had 15 saves in the first period.

#5 So after the first two games in Carolina the Lightning and Hurricanes head to Tampa Bay where the Lightning have home ice and a 2-0 advantage.

#1 The Vegas Golden Knights (4-3) advanced by beating the Minnesota Wild (3-4) convincingly on Friday night 6-2. The Knights opened up the flood gates with three goals in the second period to run away with the game 7 win.

#2 Marko, talk about the Knights Mattias Janmark who scored two goals in the third period for a hat trick that added insurance goals for Vegas’ victory.

#3 On Saturday night with the their backs to the wall 3-2 the Montreal Canadiens pulled off a close shave with a victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Belle Centre in Montreal to stay alive and tie the series at 3-3 in over time.

#4 It all boils down to game 7 on Monday night at the Maple Leaf Garden as the Canadiens and Maple Leafs face off to decide who goes to the next round as the Leafs have the advantage of having home ice.

#5 The Boston Bruins wasted no time with a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders at TD Garden in Boston to open the best of seven series. The Bruins one of the most potent offensive teams in the NHL proved that with this three goal win on Saturday night.

#2 Mary with all the talent the Penguins have on that team Sid Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jason Zucker, and Jeff Carter to name a few is it any surprise the Islanders were able to take the Penguins out in six games?

#3 The Tampa Bay Lightning (4-2) took out the Florida Panthers (2-4) in six games though the Panthers won only two games against the Lightning they made those two games a fight but the Lightning were too much and in game six shut the Panthers out 4-0.

#4 Mary, talk about the job in net that goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy did stopping all 29 shots to shutout the Panthers Vasilevskiy practically had to stand on his head to stop a team like that.

#5 Mary Lisa goaltender Cam Talbot of the Minnesota Wild (3-3) got a game one shutout against the Vegas Golden Knights (3-3) on Wednesday night in Minnesota 3-0. Talbot stopped all 23 shots and the Wild did all their scoring in the third period to 3-3 tie the series.

#1 Toronto Maple Leafs (3-1) @ Montreal Canadiens (1-3) , the Toronto Maple Leafs led from start to finish with a 4-0 win. The Leafs dominated on defense over the Canadiens in game four of the first round of the playoffs.

#2 Len talk about the job between the pipes by Leafs goalie Jack Campbell shutting out the Habs and facing 32 shots. How much of this game did Campbell have to stand on his head.

#3 The Canadiens simply couldn’t get the puck in the back end of the net with the kind of offense they have with players like Joel Armia and Nick Suzuki how surprising was it to see Montreal get shutout like this?

#4 Nashville Predators (2-3) @ Carolina Hurricanes (3-2) game 5 was a close as you can get out of a playoff game as the Carolina Hurricanes who were down 2-1 came back to tie the game in the third period got a overtime win to take a 3-2 lead in the series.

#5 Len talk about the Cane’s Jordan Staal’s overtime score past Preds goaltender Juuse Saros, Staal took a swing at the puck that ricocheted off Saros and got the biscuit in the basket for the win. By the way the game ended at 11:45pm east coast time.
