Kings find a way to beat Warriors in 122-115 win

The Sacramento Kings turned the tables on the Warriors Sunday night as they beat the Warriors 122-115. The Kings and Warriors played for the third time this season. The Warriors won the first two and hoped to make it three in a row over Sacramento. The Kings wanted to exact a measure of revenge as they lost by three points last Mondy night in San Francisco. The Kings felt the referees blew a call on the last shot of that game. Had the call been made, the Kings could have tied the game.

On Sunday night, Kings’ coach Mike Brown wanted his team to find a way to bottle up Warrior guard Stephen Curry. Curry scored 47 last Monday night, and Brown wanted his players to make life miserable for Curry. The Kings’ defense held Curry to 27 points in the game. Their strategy was to make the other Warriors beat them. It worked.

In the first quarter, the Warriors, led by Curry’s 13 points, finished with a 13-point lead, 39-26. Things did not go well for the Warriors in the second quarter. Mike Brown inserted his sixth man, Malik Monk, into the game. Monk’s play lit a fuse on the Kings’ offense. Everything went their way. The Warriors did not play well on defense. They turned the ball over too many times. The Kings went on a 21-7 run to take the lead 47-46. Sacramento outscored the Warriors 38-23 to finish the first half with a slim two-point advantage, 64-62.

The Kings knew the Warriors loved the third quarter. Brown’s guys found a way to slow down the Warrior attack. The Warriors scored the first six points in the period. Curry made a four-point play. Draymond Green a deuce. The Warriors led 68-64. Sacramento didn’t wilt. They answered and outscored Golden State by five to lead by seven, 98-91, at the end of three periods.

Sacramento led 107-98 when the Warriors went on a 13-2 run to take the lead 111-109 with 4:19 seconds left. There was a lot of time left in the game to play. The Kings, led by Domantis Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox, went on a 9-0 run to lead 119-113 with 2:03 left. The Warriors missed three or four three-point shots down the stretch. Sacramento held on to win 122-115.

Game Notes- The Warriors lost for the seventh time on the road. They have yet to win a game away from home. They are now 5-8. The Kings improved to 6-7.

Curry led the Warriors with 27. Curry made three threes in nine tries. Curry did not score a point in the second quarter. The Kings held him to 14 in the second half. Andrew Wiggins finished with 26. Jordan Poole had 18 for the second straight game. Klay Thompson added 17. The Warriors shot 46% from the floor and made 16 threes in 46 attempts.

Sabonis almost had a triple-double, 26 points, 22 rebounds, and eight assists. De’Aaron Fox came to life in the second half and finished with 22 points and eight assists. Malik Monk had 12. Rookie Keegan Murray and Kevin Huerter knocked down nine threes for the Kings. Murray finished with 21 points. He hit five threes. Huerter had 17, and he made four threes. The Kings were 51% from the floor and 43% from three-point range. They outrebounded the Warriors 54-46.

The Warriors return home to face the San Antonio Spurs Monday night at the Chase Center. The game will start at 7 pm.

Warriors win nail-biter beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 106-101

Somehow, the Warriors found a way to come back from a seven-point deficit late in the fourth quarter as they down the Cleveland Cavaliers 106-101. The game was a definite nail-biter. There was no question about that whatsoever. Both teams played great defense.

The Cavaliers did their best to keep Golden State guard Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Jordan Poole bottled up for most of the game. The Warriors had to find a way to stop the bigger Cavs’ team from scoring inside the paint. It was a tough task. Yet, the Warriors went on a 17-4 run late in the fourth quarter to win.

The game was nip and tuck for the first 45 minutes. The teams were tied at 25 at the end of the first period. The Cavaliers outscored the Warriors by four in the second stanza to finish the first half leading 52-48.

Curry led the Warriors with 15. Wiggins had nine, Poole 12, Thompson three, and Anthony Lamb seven. Draymond Green did not score, but he had seven rebounds and eight assists. In his first season with the Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell led his team with 14. Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Kevon Love each added eight.

The Warriors went up by three, 55-52, early in the third quarter. The Cavaliers went on a 13-0 run to lead 66-55. The Warriors were ice cold. The Warriors started to connect on three-point shots. Wiggins, Curry (2), Poole, and Lamb made threes. The Warriors trailed came with one 75-74. Cleveland answered with a bucket to finish the third quarter leading 77-74.

Both teams knew the fourth quarter would be a fight to the finish. Could the Cavaliers stave off the Warriors? Could the Warriors stop the Cavalier offense? Would Cleveland find a way to keep Curry from beating them? Neither team would give an inch. The Warriors took the lead 82-81 as they rallied from an 81-76 deficit. Poole connected on a three, and Wiggins made a two-point shot to tie the game.

Kevon Looney put the Warriors ahead 83-81. The Cavaliers rallied to lead 89-85. Curry made it 89-87. The Cavs scored the next six points to lead 93-87. The Warriors were unhappy as the Cavaliers Caris LeVert made a three-point shot in that sequence. The referees called Poole for a flagrant foul.

LeVert was awarded two free throws, and Cleveland retained possession of the ball. It could have been a six-point play. LeVert made one free throw. The Cavaliers scored the next basket to lead 95-97. There were less than four minutes left to play. Many of the fans were getting the feeling that the game was slipping away. Keep in mind the Warriors have the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA.

Curry worked his magic against the Sacramento Kings last Monday night. Could he do it again? Could Cleveland find a way to stop him? The Answer to the first question was yes. Curry did it again. No, Cleveland could not stop him. Curry and the Warriors went on a 16-3 run to win the game 106-101.

Game Notes and Stats- With the win, the Warriors are 5-7. The Cavaliers dropped to 8-4.

Curry finished the night with 40 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Curry made six threes. Curry scored over 30 or more points in nine of the 12 games. Wiggins added 20, Green had a double-double with ten rebounds and 13 assists. Poole added five points. Poole knocked down four threes.

Lamb will be getting more playing time in the second unit. Lamb finished with ten points and made two big three-point shots. Thompson had nine. Thompson contributed with a three in the fourth quarter, and his defense on Mitchell helped the Warriors secure the win.

The Warriors held the Cavaliers’ offense to 40% from the floor: the Cavaliers made eight threes, the Warriors 15. The Warriors were 49% from the floor. The one negative was the number of fouls committed. The Cavaliers had 26 free throws and made 19. The Warriors made 11 in 14 tries.

The Cavaliers had five players in double figures. Mitchell led his team with 29 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. Mitchell made three threes. Big Evan Mobley had a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards. LeVert had 11, Jarrett Allen 13, and Darius Garland 15. Kevin Love, coming off the bench, had nine.

The Warriors travel to Sacramento to face the Kings Sunday night at the Golden 1 center. The game will start at 5:30 pm. After Sunday’s game, the Warriors return home to face the San Antonio Spurs Monday night at the Chase Center. Tip off at 7 pm.

Kings Finish Off Lakers in Final Seconds 120-114

Kings Finish Off Lakers in Final Seconds 120-114

Friday night the Sacramento Kings (5-6) took on the Los Angeles Lakers (2-10) at crypto.com Arena. The Kings were coming off a 127-120 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers while the struggling Lakers lost to the Clippers 114-101 on Wednesday.

LeBron James had to leave the game against the Clippers with a groin injury and was unable to play Wednesday. The Kings picked up their third win in their last five games defeating the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles 120-114. It was the Lakers fifth straight loss.

Game recap: The game was all tied after the first 12 minutes 23-23. The Kings took the lead for much of the first quarter but could never distance themselves from the Lakers.

The second quarter remained close until the five minute mark. The Lakers began to chip away and built a 12 point lead. With three minutes left in the half, the Kings began to make a push and after two quarters Sacramento had rallied and only trailed 60-56.

DeAaron Fox had been quiet through the first quarter and most of the second. The final two minutes of the half saw Fox turn things around heating up and finishing the half with 11 points. The slow start Kevin Huerter had also turned around in the second quarter.

The Kings took the lead mid-way through the third quarter but this game remained close. With 4:56 left the Kings were clinging to a one point lead 75-74. Domantas Sabonis had really stepped up from the start of this game. As the third quarter wound down the teams were trading the lead. The Lakers led after three quarters 88-87.

The early minutes of the fourth quarter were as tight as a game could be between these two teams. With 1:06 left in the game the score was tied 114-114. Sacramento dug in and took a 118-114 lead with 32 seconds on the clock. The high for the Lakers was Anthony Davis with 24 points and Russell Westbrook finished with 21 points off the bench.

This game was a dogfight with the Kings coming out on top. Fox finished with 32 points followed by Sabonis with 21 points. Terence Davis finished with 12 off the bench. Sacramento fought hard from start to finish and it paid off.

Sunday night the Kings will be back home taking on the Golden State Warriors. The Kings got close last Monday losing to the Warriors 116- 113. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

Sac’s Sobonis leads with 21 pts in 127-120 win over Cavs; Kings pick up fourth win in last six games

SACRAMENTO–The Sacramento Kings were back in action on Wednesday night in Sacramento. The Kings last played on Monday in San Francisco when they took on the Golden State Warriors. The Kings played an excellent and hard-fought game! Unfortunately, Stephen Curry exists, and the NBA refs are atrocious.

The Kings lost that game 116-113 in a very upsetting fashion for the Kings.

Game recap: On Wednesday, the Kings welcomed the upstart Cleveland Cavaliers into town at 7 PM PST. The Kings defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 127-120 on Wednesday night.

In the first quarter, the Kings came out swinging. The Kings put up 34 points in the third quarter compared to the Cavs 29 points. The Kings could have finished the quarter up by a more significant margin, but they didn’t finish strong. Domantas Sabonis started the game hot, scoring eight points in the first.

In the second quarter, it was a similar tale. The Kings started the quarter hot and cooled off toward the end. However, Keegan Murray led the Kings in the final minutes to stretch out the lead. The Kings defense struggled to contain the Cavs in the first half, but the offense was producing at a high clip.

The Kings managed to outscore the Cavs 69-58 in the first half, putting them on a good path to victory. The Kings were led in the first half by De’Aaron Fox, who scored 13 points for the Kings. However, the Kings have struggled to come out in the second half with energy; Wednesday night was a good test of that.

In the third quarter, the Kings defense continued to struggle. The Kings offense was the only reason the Kings were still in the game. The Kings allowed the Cavs to score 35 points in the third quarter. No doubt coach Mike Brown was disappointed by the defensive performance so far. However, the Kings still led the Cavs 97-93 heading into the game’s final 12 minutes of action.

In the fourth quarter, it was a back-and-forth battle. It was intense until the end of the game. Both teams played their hearts out, but ultimately, only one could emerge victorious. In the game’s final minutes, the Kings came up clutch to beat the Cavs.

Kevin Huerter came up with a clutch three-pointer as Malik Monk distributed the offense. The Kings outscored the Cavs 30-27 in the final quarter to come away with the win. The defense for the Kings was lacking all game. Yet, when the defense mattered most, the Kings got the job done down the stretch.

The Kings leading scorer was Domantas Sabonis, who dropped 21 points. Donavan Mitchell led the Cavs in defeat, dropping 38 points on the Kings. Nevertheless, it was a big win for the Kings, who improved to 4-6 on the season.

Up Next: The Kings travel to LA to take on the Lakers on Friday at 7 PM PST.

Warriors End Five Game Losing Streak Beating Sacramento 116-113

Monday night the Sacramento Kings (3-6) took on the Golden State Warriors (4-7). The Kings are coming off a Saturday night overtime win against the Magic 126-123. The Warriors had lost five games in a row and the Kings would like nothing more than to make it six for the Warriors. The Warriors got some strong offensive help from guard Stephen Curry with 22 points and Golden State got by Sacramento 116-113 at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

The Kings fell behind in the first quarter trailing by 12 points only to make a push winning the opening quarter 31-29. This season the Kings have played some terrific basketball and have been in every game they have played this year. The Kings had six three’s in the opening quarter with De’Aaron Fox leading the way.

With six and a half left in the second quarter, the Kings took their largest lead of the game 48-37. Sacramento hung onto the lead for most of the quarter and with two minutes left in the half were clinging to a 57-53 lead. The Kings had really cashed in on the 21 free throws that the Warriors had thrown their way making 19 of them.

At the half the Kings had a 67-55 lead. Fox had 18 points and off the bench Malik Monk had 17. Domantas Sabonis already had a double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Kings were looking to build on two terrific quarters going into the second half.

The Kings opened the third quarter with a couple of sloppy turnovers Golden State taking full advantage of the mistakes. The 12 point lead had shrunk to one point with eight minutes left in the quarter. Every push the Warriors made saw the Kings up for the challenge. Sacramento continued to play hard and built their lead back up to 88-79 after three quarters.

With under two minutes left in the game the score was tied at 107. A Curry three gave the Warriors the lead since the first quarter 110-107. The Kings had the Warriors pinned against the wall but they could not contain Curry in the final minutes of the game. It was a tough loss for Sacramento.

Fox finished with 28 and Sabonis had 19 points and 14 rebounds. Off the bench Malik Monk turned in 24 points. The Kings had an offensive let-down in the final minutes of this game which made all the difference.

The Kings will be back home at Golden 1 Center Wednesday night to take on the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

The Golden State Warriors (4-7) returned home after losing five games in a row on the road trip. Their opponent Monday night was the revamped Sacramento Kings (3-6). The Kings beat Charlotte and Orlando on their road trip but lost to the Miami Heat when the referees missed a traveling violation.

Kings’ head coach, Mike Brown, has his team playing much better this season. The Kings gave the Warriors a tussle Monday before losing 116-113. Fans at the Chase Center saw Warrior guard Stephen Curry do his magic as he led his team to the win. He carried the team in the first half. Curry was at his best when things looked bleak in the fourth quarter. Curry played 37 minutes and tallied 47 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and knocked down seven threes. It was a most impressive performance.

The Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was concerned about the Warriors failure to play defense on the road. The team had allowed over 122 points a game while losing five in a row. Kerr was trying to determine who would be in his second unit. Kerr made some changes, and his team responded with a win. 

The Warriors starting five got a good start in the first quarter. They led 27-15 about halfway through the period. Kerr made his first substitutions of the night, sending in Jordan Poole and Anthony Lamb. Jonathan Kuminga entered a few moments later. The Kings caught fire at this point. Sacramento went on a 16-2 run to finish the quarter with a two-point lead, 31-29.

Sacramento, led by Domantis Sabonis, De’Aaron Fox, and Malik Monk, extended their lead to eight, 48-40. Curry made a three and a two-pointer to close the gap to 50-45. The Warriors trailed by four when Sacramento went on a 10-4 run to end the first half with a 12-point advantage, 67-55.

De’Aaron Fox paced the Kings’ offense with 18 points. Sabonis had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Malik Monk added 17. The Kings connected on ten three-point shots. The Warriors made five. Sacramento made 19 free throws in the first half. Curry had 22 points to lead the team. Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green each scored eight. 

If the Warriors hoped to win the game, they knew they had to dominate the third quarter as they have done so many times. 

The Warriors came out firing on all cylinders. They went on a 13-2 run to make it a 69-68 game. Wiggins and Thompson each made a three in the run. The Kings regrouped and fought back. Every time the Warriors closed the gap, the Kings answered with a bucket. The Warriors won the quarter by three points and trailed by nine, 88-79. 

The Warriors had to find a way to win the game. They had to stop the Kings’ offense and find a way to get someone other than Curry to make plays. Andrew Wiggins stepped up his game in the fourth quarter. Wiggins connected on a three to make it 88-82.

The Kings scored the next four points. Wiggins scored a deuce to make it 92-84. Sacramento hit a three. Curry scored a bucket and was fouled. He made the free throw. Thompson connected on a three. The Warriors trailed by five 95-90. Sacramento refused to cave.

With the score 100-92, Wiggins made another bucker. Curry followed with a three. The Warriors trailed 100-97 with five minutes left in the game. There was still plenty of time left to pull out a win. Could the defense hold down the Kings’ offense? Could they stop Sabonis, Fox, and company? The Warriors answered in the affirmative. Warriors made a three to bring the Warriors to within three 102-99. Sacramento increased the lead to five 107-102. Wiggins made another three with 2:26 left.

The Warriors trailed 107-105. Curry took charge. Curry’s two-pointer tied the game at 107. He hit a three to give the Warriors their first lead since the first quarter when they led 29-28. The Kings fought back. They hit a bucket. Curry answered with another two-point play to make it 112-109. Sacramento scored. Green scored. The Kings came back 114-113 with 25 seconds left. Curry ended the scoring when he was fouled with 1.3 seconds left. He made both free throws to ice the win for Golden State.

Game Notes: The Warriors are now 4-7, and The Kings are 3-5. The Warriors meet the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Chase Center Friday night. They play the Kings again Sunday night at the Golden 1 center in Sacramento.

The story of the game was Curry. He was magnificent in leading his team to victory. He scored 47 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and seven threes. Wiggins had a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. Wiggins connected on four threes. Thompson added 16 points. Thompson made three threes. Green had 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Poole scored just two points. 

The Warriors won the second half 61-46. The Kings made ten threes in the first half but only four in the second. The Warriors story was just the opposite. They made five threes in the first half and nine in the second. The Warriors shot 50% from the field and held the Kings to 40.7% 

The Kings had five players in double figures. Sabonis finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Fox had 28, Monk 24, Davion Mitchell 12, and Kevin Huerter 11.

Kerr said he was pleased with his team’s energy in the fourth quarter. Kerr knew the Warriors had to improve on defense as well. They did what they had to do to win and snap the five-game losing streak.

#1 Barbara, how depleted do the Golden State Warriors seem after resting their three key players Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson and taking a nine point 114-105 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night in Pelican town.

#2 The Pelicans Brandon Ingram lead the Pelicans with 26 points and contributed on offense keeping New Orleans in the drivers seat for most of the game.

#3 What was remarkable was Ingram had missed four games in a row due to a concussion and was glad for the timing of getting back in the line up to face the Warriors.

#4 The Warriors Jordan Poole led Golden State with 20 points and nine assists, Ty Jerome had 18 points, and Kevon Looney was the only regular starter that was in uniform.

#5 The Warriors return to the nest tonight at Chase Center and host the Sacramento Kings who are coming off two road wins against the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets.

#1 The Sacramento Kings De’Aaron Fox hit a key overtime buzzer beater that won it 126-123 over the Orlando Magic in Orlando.

#2 The win was the Kings third win in their last four games and second win on this road trip.

#3 The sequence that we talked about the Kings were up 123-121 after Jalen Suggs hits two free throws, the Magic’s Chuma Okeke got a two point thrown down to make it 123-123 to tie it up. With no time left in front of the half court line Fox took a jumper and hit a overtime buzzer beater for the three point win 126-123.
