HOUSTON-The San Francisco 49ers finished off their preseason schedule strong with a 40-13 victory over the Houston Texans on Thursday night. The 49ers won the game with ease with great contribution from all the back ups.

Only three starters started on both sides of the ball for San Francisco. They game was played by the second and third stringers and the rookies that were looking to prove that they belong in the NFL.

Quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Josh Johnson both contributed with touchdown passes on the night.

Rookie linebacker Chris Borland and free agent aquisition Chris Cook both recorded interceptions.

The great performance by all of the reserves makes the roster decisions for Harbaugh and the management harder as they will need to trim the roater to a 53-man roster by weekends end.

The 49ers will open up their season in Dallas against the Cowboys next Sunday and 1:05 pm.

SANTA CLARA- The San Francisco 49ers will play their preseason finale against the Houston Texans on Thursday night in Houston.

The Niners are coming off of their first win of the preseason as they beat the San Diego Chargers 21-7 on Sunday.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh will make the final roster moves after the fourth and final preseason. San Francisco will look to finish the exhibition season with a 2-2 record before they fly to Dallas to take on the Dallas Cowboys on September 7th.

The roster will have to be trimmed down to a 53 man roster by Sunday the 7th. The big question is how many receivers will the Niners look to keep as they have a healthy receiving core that can contribute on the offense and on special teams.

The 49ers will also have a tough decision to make as far as how many linebackers to keep.

Regardless, this 2014 San Francisco 49ers team will be the deepest team that they have had in many years.

WASHINGTON D.C.- The San Francisco Giants were defeated by the Washington Nationals 14-6 on Sunday in the nation’s capital. The loss resulted in a series loss to perhaps the hottest team in baseball.

Stephen Strasburg started the for the Nationals and was roughed up but was not hit for the loss as Washington was able to rally back and win the series.

Despite putting up six runs, the Giants bullpen were unable to hold the lead.

Although the series loss to Washington hurts, the giants offense has been consistent, which has to be an encouraging sign for manager Bruce Bochy.

The Giants will host the Colorado Rockies on Monday at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

WASHINGTON D.C.-The San Francisco Giants fell to the Washington Nationals 6-2 on Saturday night in the Nations Capital.

After an impressive 10-2 victory on Friday night, the Giants could not pull it together offensively.

Hunter Pence hit his 18th homerun of the season to put San Francisco up 2-0 in the dirat inning for the only two runs of the game for the Giants.

Jordan Zimmerman continued his success against the team by the bay beatung the Giants for the fifth time in his career and improving to a 5-1 record against them.

Tim Lincecum historically has never pitched well against Washington. Lincecum was roughed up for 5 runs in 2 2/3 innings pitched.

The Giants will go for the victory and the series win over the Nationals on Sunday before the fly back to San Francisco to host the division rival Colorado Rockies.

SANTA CLARA- The San Francisco 49ers will look to earn their first win of the preseason on Sunday as they will host the San Diego Chargers in the second preseason home game at Levi’s Stadium.

The 49ers were defeated by Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos 34-0 yesterday in the preseason home opener at Levis. San Francisco’s first team offense moved the ball but were unable to put any points on the board because of two missed field goals by kicker Phil Dawson.

Coach Jim Harbaugh said that he was not worried about his offense putting up only 3 points in their first two preseason games. Harbaugh commented on the upcoming week in preparation for the Chargers.

“It’s going to be a big week, we need to make decisions on who we are going with. We cant keep experimenting,” said Harbaugh.

The Chargers will be the third prrseason game, and the third gane of the exhibition season typically results in the increase of playing rime for starters for most teams.

The new stadium brought a lot of excitement to the game, but quarterback Colin Kaepernick said it did not make much of a difference on the field.

“When you’re on the field a field is a field. It didnt make too much of a difference. I think here we’ll get more noise in our favor, but thats about it,” said the dual threat quarterback.

The 49ers will host the Chargers this Sunday at 1 pm before wrapping up the preseason in Houston with the Texans the following week.

SANTA CLARA- The San Francisco 49ers will host the Denver Broncos for the first ever football game at Levis Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The 49ers preseason home opener will oficially open up the new billion dollar facility to football activities.

The 49ers come into the game with a preseason record of 0-1 as they were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. The Broncos, however, will come into the contest with a 1-0 peseason record as they defeated the Superbowl Champion Seattle Seahawks on Friday.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers will look to get into the win column as the starters will see a little bit more playing time in game two of the preseason. Same goes for the AFC Champion Broncos as Peyton Manning and his starters will see a couple more series this time around.

Although this is only a preseason game where the majority of the context will be played by the back ups, this game will be an anticipation of a possible Superbowl 49 matchup.

Kickoff for the new billion dollar facility will be at 1:00 pm. Levis will be expecting a huge turn out, dispite it only being an exhibition contest.

SANTA CLARA- With a new billion dollar stadium comes a lot of traffic. The San Francisco 49ers new facility looks like it will bring more traffic towards the parking lot of Great America, then it did to Hunters Point in San Francisco.

Levis Stadium will seat more than 70 thousand fans during each game. All 8 home season games are already sold out and there are still tickets being sold for standing room only.

Getting to and from the new facility will be accessible as they VTA lightrail stops just short of the entrance to the stadium. More Public transportation such as busses also run to Santa Clara and close to the ball park. All of this is extra as they have opened up parking lots all around the stadium.

Only problem is, that with many ways to get to Levis, brings the traffic. Getting to and from the ballpark early is highly advised. Plan to get to the game a couple hours early so that none of the event is missed.

Leaving the facility will be the most hectic of them all. Waiting for the lightrail or leaving the parking lots will accumulate a couple of extra hours.

The 49ers will see how this works whwn they host their firat game next week against the Denver Broncos in their preseason home opener.

SANTA CLARA-The San Francisco 49ers will open up their preseason schedule against the team that defeated them in the Super Bowl two years ago, the Baltimore Ravens, on Thursday night.

The title hungry 49ers are looking to get off on the right foot as they look to open up the preseason victorious.

Other than the Super Bowl rematch, it will also be the third meeting against the Harbaugh brothers, Jim and John. John Harbaugh has one the previous two meetings. Although this matchup is not an official matchup that will go on the career records of these two respected coaches, it will certainly bring bragging rights between the two brothers.

For San Francisco, the starters are not expected to play more than a series or two each. All eyes will be on first round pick Jimmie Ward, and second round pick Carlos Hyde.

Hyde will get a good look as he is looking to make an immediate impact for the team that drafted him so highly in this past NFL Draft. With Kendall Hunter out for the season with a torn ACL, and Marcus Lattimore not yet cleared to play, Hyde has an opportunity to shine early and earn some serious playing time backing up the 30-year-old phenom Frank Gore.

Gore, the franchise’s All-Time rushing leader will receive most of the workload during the season, but will sit most if not all of the preseason.

Colin Kaepernick will also try and build some early chemistry with new wide receivers Stevie Johnson and Brandon Lloyd.

Both new wide outs are looking to help improve to the passing attack that ranked 30th in the league last season.

SANTA CLARA- The San Jose Earthquakes (6-8-5) defeated the Seattle Sounders FC (12-6-2) by a final score of 1-0 to open Levis stadium on Saturday night in front of 48,765 fans. The new billion dollar facility opened its doors for the first time to host a major sporting event.

The first half was scoreless up until Yannick Djalo received a pass from Chris Wondolowski to score the lone goal in the game to lead the Earthquakes to the first ever win at the Levi’s stadium. The contest consisted of a great defensive showing from both San Jose and Seattle. After Djalo injured himself Seattle started to apply more pressure but was unsuccessful for the remainder of the game as they were shut out by San Jose’s defensive tactics.

Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch recorded nine saves to earn the win. The save total matched his career high as an Earthquake.

Both sides had a great amount of chances late in the final stanza of the game. But the header from Chad Barrett in the 85th minute was the closest chance by both oppositions.

The Earthquakes will be back on the field at the StubHub Center where they will play against the Los Angeles Galaxy on August 8th.
