SAN JOSE–The San Jose Sharks took on the Nashville Predators for the third time this season. This was the first match-up between these two bottom teams this season.The last time these two teams faced off was on April 23rd in San Jose as the Sharks fell 5-4, 18 seconds into overtime.
Thomas Bordeleau and Fabian Zetterlund both netting goals in the loss. The Sharks came away with a satisfying 4-2 win to snap their three game skid on Thursday night at SAP Center.
Noah Gregor made his “Sharks debut” in Thursday’s night’s Cali fin uniforms. Gregor was acquired in a trade that sent Fabian Zetterlund, a draft pick, and Tristen Robins to the Ottawa Senators.
Will Smith opened up the scoring at 3:48 of the first, scoring his 13th of the season. An example of good puck handling by William Eklund and Macklin Celebrini led to the goal. Previous to this, Eklund provided many opportunities by bringing the puck up.
The Sharks were all over the ice. They extended their lead at 10:16 of the second, Collin Graf with his 3rd of the season. Alexander Wennberg and Mario Ferraro registering the assists.
Chicago cut into San Jose’s lead at 0:10 of the second when Frank Nazar netted his 6th of the season. The Blackhawks had just come off of a powerplay five seconds earlier. The seventh ranked powerplay team missed their first opportunity.
San Jose’s powerplay units got to work scoring their 38th PPG of the season. Collin Graf with his second goal of the night, Will Smith and Shakir Mukhamadullin registering the assists. Smith with his second point of the night.
Chicago cut into the San Jose lead again on a five on five goal. Goodrow and Dickinson had both previously gone to the box for fighting. Ilya Mikheyev with his 15th of the season, Ryan Donato and Teuvo Teravainen registering the assists.
Tyler Toffoli scored an empty net goal to secure the win, snapping a three game losing streak.

The Sharks will be back in action on Saturday back at SAP Center. They will be hosting the Washington Capitals, the last time these two teams faced off was on December 3rd when San Jose came out with a 2-1 overtime win.
