Kris Bryant may have gotten all the Pomp and Circumstance from the Chicago Cubs organization and the fans; however, they must have forgotten Tommy La Stella also played on the North Side of Chicago.
La Stella, who played for the Cubs from 2015-2018 showed them on the field, as he drove in five runs on a two-run single in the top of the second and then added a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning, as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Cubs 15-4 at Wrigley Field.
Kevin Gausman went the first six innings for the Giants, as he allowed three runs on eight hits, did not walk a batter and struck out and saw his record improve to 14-5 on the season.
La Stella gave the Giants for the good in the top of the second inning, as he hit a two-run single off of losing pitcher Zach Davies and then Brandon Belt continued his hot hitting, as he added a three-run home run in the five-run second inning.
Wilson Contreras gave the Cubs an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, as he singled off of Gausman to give the Cubs the lead that scored Frank Ortega.
That lead last all of a half-inning, when La Stella hit his two-run single and Belt hit his 23rd home run of the season.
Asides from Belt, Evan Longoria also continues to hit the ball well, as he singled in the top of the fourth inning that scored Bryant to give the Giants a five-run lead.
The Cubs decided that a five-run deficit was not big enough, as Ian Happ tripled to centerfield to score the hot hitting Frank Schwindel, a day after he picked up the only two hits for the Cubs on Friday. Following the Happ triple, Contreras picked up his second RBI of the game, as he singled to cut the Giants lead in half.
After Longoria walked with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning, Mike Yastrzemski broke the game open with a two-run single of his own and then La Stella hit his fourth home run of the season that gave the Giants a 12-3 lead, when they scored six runs in the inning.
Once again, the Giants put up a crooked number in the top of the eighth inning, as Thairo Estrada walked with the bases loaded to score Belt and then Longoria added another RBI with a sacrifice fly that scored Curt Casali, who replaced Buster Posey in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Wade, Jr., drove in the final Giants run of the game in the top of the ninth inning, as he singled to score La Stella.
Caleb Baragar pitched the final three innings for the Giants, who have won six in a row and are now 5-0 on the road trip that ends on Sunday.
In his three innings of work, Baragar allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out two.
Davies lasted only two innings for the Cubs, as he gave up five runs on four hits, walked three and struck out one and saw his record fall to 6-11 on the season.
NOTES: This is the second six-game winning streak for the Giants, their longest winning streak of the season. They also won six in a row from August 7-13.
With the victory, the Giants have now won 47 games on the road, and it is only the sixth time since moving to San Francisco Giants in 1958 to have won this many road games in a season. They also won 46 games in 2012, and the record for most road wins in a season is 53 that was set by the 1993 and the Giants have seven road games remaining this season.
UP NEXT: Logan Webb goes for the Giants on Sunday afternoon, as he looks for his 10th win of the season and the Cubs will send Justin Steele, who is looking for his fourth win of the season.
