On the Podcast with Amaury:

Former San Francisco Giant, Hall of Famer, and first baseman Orlando Cepeda was rushed to the hospital Monday from a fall that he took injuring his head. Cepeda last season celebrated his 80th birthday to an AT&T crowd who celebrated with him singing Happy Birthday. Cepeda’s status since the Monday fall that he is on an oxygen machine to assist with his breathing and has not gained consciousness since he took the fall. Cepeda has told me that he uses a cane for balance. His family is insisting on their privacy while asking for prayers and hopes for Cepeda’s recovery.

Cepeda broke in with the Giants in 1958 with the Giants and he and Willie McCovey both played at first base for the Giants until the end of the 1966 season when Cepeda was traded to the St Louis Cardinals. With St Louis he went to the World Series his first two years with the club in 1967 and 68.

Cepeda played and started for those Cardinal teams and was thrilled to be part of two World Series teams that had players like Roger Maris, Del Maxwell, Julian Javier, Lou Brock, Curt Flood, and Bob Gibson just to name a few.

Baseball has announced changes that they will limit the amount of times a coach or a manager can come out and visit the pitcher or make a pitching change and baseball wants to limit the amount of time ads run during TV breaks to help speed up the game.

With TV ad times being cut will advertisers cut their ad campaigns with baseball knowing that any promotion will now be limited because of the TV break time limitations.
