It was the battle of the LA backups in the San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche contest on Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center. Avalanche goalie Jonathan Bernier’s stopped 39 Sharks shots. Both starting goalies Bernier and San Jose Shark goaltender Martin Jones are former LA Kings goalies. The Sharks Joel Ward goal scored to get the Sharks on the scoreboard.

The goal by Ward was flukey as the puck ended up by him and he ended up getting the puck in the net. Bernier got lots of protection as the defenders help Bernier stop shots and hits in front of the net. The Avs did a lot better job than the Sharks did in attacking the net and on defense the Avs did a better job protecting Bernier than the Sharks did protecting Jones.
