Daejon Davis returned to his hometown of Seattle, and came away with his first career double-double for the Stanford Cardinal’s 73-64 Pac-12 men’s basketball victory over the Washington Huskies at Hec Edmundson Pavilion Saturday night.

Davis finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Reid Travis also had 16 points as the Cardinal (10-8 overall, 4-1 Pac-12) completed its first two-game road conference road sweep in eight years. Stanford had not recorded a Pac-12 road sweep since beating both Oregon schools in February 2010.

The Cardinal benefitted from a lengthy Huskies scoring drought in the second half to register their fourth straight win. Michael Humphrey contributed 13 points and nine rebounds, and Kezie Okpala added 10 points for Stanford.

Davis was a local prep star in the Seattle area who played at Garfield High School and originally committed to Washington. When Lorenzo Romar was fired as the Huskies’ coach last March, Davis de-committed and signed to play at Stanford.

Davis, who also finished with five assists, was booed periodically throughout the game. His only 3-pointer of the game put the Cardinal up 65-60 with 3:23 left.

The Cardinal led by 13 after Okpala’s dunk with 8:40 remaining in the second half. Washington responded with an 11-2 run, pulling within four (60-56) on a David Crisp basket with 6:09 to play.

Matisse Thybulle sank a pair of free throws with 3:52 to play, pulling the Huskies within two (62-60), but that was as close as Washington would get. After Davis’s 3 pushed Stanford’s lead back to five, a couple of empty possessions preceded a Dorian Pickens 3-pointer. With 2:25 remaining, the Cardinal built a 68-60 lead.

Jaylen Nowell led the Huskies (13-5, 3-2) with 20 points, and Crisp added 11 points. Stanford outrebounded Washington 48-28.

The Cardinal return home for a Wednesday game against Arizona State. Tip-off is at 8 pm PT.
