PALO ALTO–The Stanford Cardinal who lost by only one last Thursday are getting back to work to prepare for next week’s game against the Washington State Cougars. Although Stanford got the 15-14 win past the Oregon State Beavers Cardinal head coach David Shaw put the blame of the coaching on himself and the Cardinal failed to beat the point spread and win by two touchdowns.
The absence of Stanford running back Bryce Love was the end result of a late scratch due to a lower body injury as Shaw made that announcement 90 minutes before the game that Love wouldn’t be in the line up. It was a very late surprise scratch and it really gave OSU a lot of confidence in going into that game. Also Love is a potential Heisman Trophy candidate that wouldn’t be on the field and it really took the air out of the sails for Stanford on Thursday.
