It’s gong to be a festive night on January 7th at SAP Center when the San Jose Sharks pay tribute to the Bay Area’s first NHL team the California Golden Seals who played at the Oakland Arena from 1967-1976. Former Seals will be there Norm Ferguson, Bert Marshall, Gary Simmons, Gilles Meloche, and Dennis Maruk. The players will be joined by former Seals radio announcers Tim Ryan and Joe Starkey. The Sharks will handing out five card players sets to fans and you can bet they’ll be some fans who just might bring their old Topps Hockey cards to the rink of the players to be signed. Yours truly Len Shapiro who was the team’s media relations director will be on hand.

Sharks road trip: This last road trip was fairly successful the Sharks had three victories and one defeat the one on Sunday night was to the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1. The concern is still on the offense and they had the nine goals. It was alright but they had two games where they really came from behind and went into overtime to win games in Ottawa and Toronto. The game in Montreal last Friday if you listened to last week’s podcast it should have been a different game with Canadiens goalie Carey Price on his home ice.

It certainly was a different game at the Bell Center and they chased him out fast and created a lot of controversy in Montreal because Habs head coach Michel Therrien pulled Price out in the middle of the period and didn’t wait until the end of the period and in the Canadien lore that’s kind of an insult.
