punchng.com photo: Kenyan team captain Wesley Korir talks with Olympic officials as team Kenya is still stuck in Rio close to a week after the closing ceremonies last Sunday
On That’s Amaury’s Podcast Jeremy Kahn joins Amaury Pi Gonzalez as athletes from the Kenyan Olympic team are still stranded in Rio and cannot leave the country because they can not afford to fly back to Kenya. The Kenyan team won 13 medals the most of any African country. The Kenyan government feels betrayed by the Olympic International Committee and have abandon the organization. The Keyans have said the OIC had mishandled the athletes accommodations, travel arrangements, accreditations, and failure to provide sports kits that never reached the athletes according to Keyan Minister of Sports Hassan Wario.
Meanwhile the Brazilian Government is inquiring about US swimmer Ryan Lochte who lost such endorsement products as Speedo will give testimony on what he earlier claimed to have been a robbery at a Rio gas station. Lochte with swimmers Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger, and James Feigen were not the victims of robbery but were stopped by security guards at the gas station for vandalizing a Rio bathroom while drunk. Armed on duty guards did not point a gun at Lochte’s head as he originally had claimed.
