On the San Francisco Giants podcast with Michael Duca, there’s a lot of money tied up in that Giants roster and you watch what’s going and when you open today’s sports page and you see the transaction section there’s transactions for 22 of the 32 Major League teams. There’s no organization that goes through pitchers than maybe the Oakland A’s do. The A’s will never let a starter finish a game after facing the first 31 batters, maybe if the pitcher has a no hitter going it’s got to be something that rare.
There’s always someone ready to come in out of the A’s bullpen before they hit 100 pitches and yet Sonny Gray is on the DL and may not pitch again this year. Now it’s been reported that Gray will be out for two months due to his forearm injury and that sounds like they were barely able to keep the flying parts from exploding from his elbow at one point.
When you got the kind of extensive pitching that the Giants have and they have tied up mega millions in contracts and it weighs heavily on you. You got win games any way you can, your scuffling at the All Star break and yet you don’t want to endanger anybody’s future that is there to help your team.
