Brandon Crawford picked up a team record seven hits in the opener of the three game series, and one night later, the San Francisco Giants could not even muster that.
Tom Koehler pitched seven strong innings, as the Miami Marlins defeated the Giants 2-0 at Marlins Park.
It was the second shutout in three games against the reeling Giants, who are now 3-5 on their nine-game, three-city road trip.
Koehler allowed just two hits, walked three and struck out six, as he improves to 3-0 with a 0.67 earned run average in his last four starts.
The Marlins scored both their runs in the bottom of the first inning, as Giancarlo Stanton hit a RBI double and Marcell Ozuna drove in a run on a groundout just one after the two teams combined for 15 runs in a 8-7 Giants win on Monday night.
Fernando Rodney came on for an injured A.J. Ramos to close it out for the Marlins, as he picked up his 19th save of the season in 21 opportunities.
Bruce Bochy returned to the Giants dugout after spending Monday at the University of Miami Medical Center with an irregular heartbeat.
Crawford, who became the first major league player since Rennie Stennett in 1975 to have seven hits in a game took the collar on Tuesday night, as he went 0-for-4.
Stanton’s double scored Dee Gordon from first base, after he led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk.
Ozuna then followed Stanton with a groundout that scored Martin Prado from third base to give the Marlins the only runs of the game
Matt Moore gave up the two runs on the night on three hits in six innings of work. Moore also struck out seven and walked five, as his record is now 7-8 between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Giants.
In all, the Giants picked up three hits and Pagan had two of the three on the evening.
The Giants went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, just one night after going 6-for-21 in their thrilling 14-inning victory on Monday night.
